I have a 17 year old pup who recently developed IVDD. As a result, she can't use her back legs, which can make grooming difficult. I couldn't have asked for a better groomer for my dog, Mylo, than Nicholle! She was incredibly patient, understanding, and truly listened to exactly what he needed. Mylo can be a bit unsure, but Nicholle went above and beyond to make him feel completely comfortable. Because he had an early appointment and hadn't eaten breakfast yet, she actually took the time to feed him. She even walked him in between his grooming to make sure he could relieve his bladder. It's impossible for me to properly describe my dislike for healthy spot in a yelp review. TL;DR: This company is wildly dishonest. They caused my dog to end up at the ER, albeit indirectly, but as a direct result of their refusal to tell me the truth and their bankruptcy. Tailwaggers is a much more professional operation with more variety, better prices, and infinitely better customer support. Here's the shortest full version I can provide: I have an elderly dog who recently had major GI surgery. Shes a picky eater in general, and now has physical GI sensitivity to go along with that. I was elated to find that healthy spot carried a brand of food that my dog liked. One flavor in particular, she would scarf down and her GI health was very good. Here's the start of the problem: healthy spot never had a consistent supply of the food. I was lucky if I could find 5 packs of the food at any of the healthy spot locations. Healthy spot told me very clearly and directly that the food company was unable to give them a consistent supply, and that they're the only retailer of said food in the LA area. As a result of healthy spot completely running out of the food for two weeks, I was forced to try another flavor. This stuff put my dog in the ER and she now refuses to eat any flavor of the food she used to like. I'm back to square one finding her a new food brand with a thousand dollar vet bill to boot. THE LIE: after reaching out to the food brand directly and explaining what healthy spot told me, I learned that they could have easily placed special orders for me to provide a consistent supply of the food, and that they are not, in fact, the sole retailer. Tailwaggers carries the food and immediately set me up with a recurring special order. Too bad my dog won't eat the food anymore. Several days after complaining to the food brand's sales rep, I received an email from the CEO of healthy spot explaining that they went bankrupt several months ago and thus don't have any credit to keep food on the shelves consistently. Just a wildly dishonest company whose lies ended up with my dog in the hospital. Thanks guys. read more

Brought my dog here today for a non-anesthetic dental cleaning because my local vet stopped offering that service. I was so happy to find that K9 Grillz was working out of this location today. I was able to schedule ahead of time and the pricing is fairly competitive. I had never been in this shop before but all the staff were so friendly! They were eager to give my pup Azul lots of attention. It even happened to be his birthday and they offered me a free cookie for him. The shop is also super clean and tidy. I am completely horrified by my first and last experience getting my dog groomed here. Less than 24 hours later, it is clear he has been injured and is in extreme amounts of pain. For context, he has been groomed many times and he has never experienced any issues following a grooming and is extremely well behaved at the groomer. When I picked him up last night at 6pm, the front desk staff even told me of all the dogs there yesterday, he was the most well behaved and calm, so I had no reason to suspect anything He was exhibiting odd behavior last night and dragging his butt on the ground but we assumed he was just a little irritated from the groom because they shaved him down pretty short. I didn't think we had anything to be alarmed by. This morning, however, it became clear his symptoms had worsened because he wouldn't eat or drink or go to the bathroom. Upon inspection, I saw that his testicle area was *extremely* reddened, enflamed, and raw. We're not talking mild irritation. He has been wailing in pain anytime we try to touch him. Our vet is closed today and no place we called could see him. I called the grooming spot and spoke with Marlene. She said she would talk to the groomer and call me back because she wasn't aware of any issues. When she called me back, she and the groomer tried to blame it on the fact that they had to shave down his perineum area, but that's nowhere near his testicular area, and there was no matting in that area, so they didn't need to shave him down in that area too begin with. I am livid because they should have called me right away to inform me of any injury or irritation. They did not. We went back and upon my request they provided us with a soothing cream and a dog cone - but the dog cone had clearly been used and is broken. This groomer charges 2x as much as our old groomer and I was expecting a premium experience. Instead, he is now traumatized and injured. We are hoping with this cream and the cone that his symptoms improve in the next two days and if not we're taking him to the vet on Monday. Again, especially given that we know he is extremely well behaved and calm when being groomed, and that he has no skin allergies or history of experience with skin sensitivity, this is truly appalling. read more

This is by far the most absurd and horrible haircut I've ever experienced- the groomer Sara chopped off his entire mane in front his has no hair on his face (mind you I showed 4 photos of normal haircuts he's gotten) and she bizarrely left the ears crazy long and did not cut them at all. This is totally crazy I'm literally unsure how it could even happen. The manager gave me a discount on the cut and was apologetic but please do not take your long haired dogs to this groomer. Our white Labrador, Dolly, loves this place. Sometimes it's just a quick pedi, other times it's the full spa complete with blueberry facial. Dolly loves rolling in dirt and playdates with her dog friends, so she gets extremely dirty. I can give her a bath at home but it's such a production and water everywhere!
