Having lived in charlotte for a bit traveling across the southeast for work I have eaten a lot of bbq, and there really is not much good bbq in the entire northeast. I have gone to many 4.5 rated places and been completely underwhelmed with the offerings. I didn't really like giving negative reviews which is why I stopped posting, but I wouldn't give any bbq place I've been in the northeast above 3 stars being generous. This is probably the best brisket I have had since moving back north. Juicy and fatty slices. No sauce needed at all. Just pure melt in your mouth brisket. This probably wouldn't be a 5 in Texas, but I would still rather eat here if I was in Texas than wait in a 3 hour line. In the northeast, the brisket is probably the best I've had. Can't comment on sauces or sides since I only got 1lb of brisket and a half slab of ribs. I do like the ribs I smoke better, but I still think they are a 5 for the northeast. Check their google listing because as of July they are also open on Wednesday for the summer at least. I really expect very little from bbq up here and that brisket reminded me of some of my travels thru the Carolinas, Georgia and Texas. I have not been to a place before that even remotely reminded of good southern bbq.

It was important to us to have a meal everyone could enjoy a good part of. I had a great conversation with Darrel a month prior and he was very willing and able to prepare the meal to meet our family concerns. It was very refreshing to hear a chef wanting to do something a little different, yet still delicious, so all could enjoy. He made suggestions and told me how he could prepare the dishes safely for those with allergies. And wow did he deliver! All attending the dinner raved about the entire spread. Those with the allergies were so happy with what was available to them, while everyone else didn't even notice what was missing, because the flavors were still amazing. We ordered the smoked chicken, brisket and pulled pork, salt potatoes, black beans and corn on cob. The variety of sauces were fun to try. I saw many going back after sampling to add more of their favorite. Thank you Darrel and crew for a memorable dinner preceding our family wedding!

I'm not going to rave about how amazing the Brisket or ribs or sausage or chicken or burnt ends…read moreare. Everyone has their own idea of what BBQ should be. That being said... IT IS AWESOME! But here's what you should know: There are only a handful of semi-local places trying to use BBQ as their theme for selling their food. This place is not doing that. They make amazing BBQ. Period. It's not a gimmicky fancy restaurant using BBQ to lure you in and sell you drinks or other stuff. These are real BBQ people making proper fresh BBQ. We've been here four times. It's consistently great. They have a set menu of options, mostly meats sold by weight. We got the MOTHER-LOAD - sample of everything they make. It's good for four strong appetites. There are tables to sit at, but this is NOT A sit down fine dining establishment. Be ready to get serious about food by the pound. There are paper towel rolls on the table and heavy duty plastic cutlery. Kids can eat here. Bring teenagers or college kids. They'll all be happy. They are currently NOT open Monday-Wednesday. If you haven't yet, go here immediately. It's in Warrensburg.... So who knows how long the town can support it. You'll be soooo happy you made the trek. I promise. After writing this... I wanna go back.

Brooks' BBQ chicken is some of the best I've ever had. It tastes very much like "Cornell chicken",…read morewhich has a vinegar based marinade & is very popular in the Ithaca/Lansing, NY area. I stop here whenever I'm in upstate NY to pick up bottles of this scrumptious sauce to bring home. This trip, I was delighted to find they had deep-sixed the "meh" buffet & now offered a full menu, including appetizers & desserts. A half chicken dinner ($19) includes their salad bar, a loaf of their homemade bread & one side. If you're not into chicken, which is what they're known for, they also offer ribs, brisket & other charbroiled meats. The salad bar had a good selection & everything tasted fresh & crisp. Their bread loaf is soft, white & served warm with whipped butter. We also ordered an appetizer of hush puppies, which were delicious with the whipped cinnamon butter that came with them. I chose baked beans for my side dish. Tasty & a good complement to the chicken. The chicken... perfectly charred, smoky, tender... wow!!! So delicious. Now for the weird part... we had leftovers & asked for take away containers. Our server brought us each a plastic box for the chicken. I asked for a small covered cup to take the rest of the beans & was told they don't give those out in the dining room. That was part of the meal I was paying for, so I asked her to please ask management if I could have a container. She came back with one but said, "We made an exception this time, but don't let it happen again." What?!? If it hadn't been for this, I would have rated it 5 stars.

The chicken here like I stated in the pass is off the charts delicious. Nothing even comes close to them. The Mac and cheese on this trip was good as well as the macaroni salad. Make sure when you come here you get a couple bbq sauces. The sauce is so delicious. So good that you can even find them sold in your local Walmarts. I ordered online which is super easy to do and ready when they say it's going to be. On Easter Sunday this place was jam packed in the dine in section which made my decision to order and take out online worth it. Just pulling into the parking lot your greeted ti the aroma of bbq and their smokers working overtime. Absolutely amazing. So after a 4 year hiatus, I'm glad to say that this experience was great.

Based on what was already sold out mid-afternoon, I'm guessing the turkey and ribs are popular (I got the last ribs, the turkey was already gone). Those ribs were tender and flavorful, the 2 sauces available aren't necessary but do enhance the flavor even more. The pulled pork was also tender and juicy, though I would have liked a slightly stronger, smokier, flavor. All the sides were delicious, and that corn bread was among the best I've ever had. Only open Thursdays through Sunday afternoon, this is a great end-of-the-week meal option.

I got there right around noon on a Saturday and there was already a line and while things took a little time, it was worth the wait. I got a pulled chicken sandwich and the Mac and cheese and it was so good! I think I would have preferred the pulled chicken alone, without a bun, because the bun soaked up too much of the sauce. Overall a great experience, definitely recommend getting there early if you have your heart set on their best sellers!
