After my appointment, I went back and read the negative reviews, and honestly, those matched my experience much more closely. The first red flag was that I walked in to ask about pricing, then left to think about it, and one of the employees actually came out into the parking lot to convince me to come back. That immediately felt off. The second red flag was that I asked for almond-shaped acrylics, and the technician immediately started putting tips on without ever asking what length I wanted. He just assumed I wanted them short. By that point I was already committed, so I just went with it. As the service went on, I also noticed the salon wasn't as clean as I would expect. There were leftover decorations up and everything was just dirty and had stains on it, and debris around the work area, and it just didn't give me a great feeling. To be fair, the pedicure came out really nice. They opened what appeared to be a sealed pack of sanitized tools, which I appreciated, and I'm happy with how my toes turned out. The acrylic nails, though, were another story. The technician left noticeable gaps between the acrylic and my cuticles, as well as along the sides of my nails. They're also extremely thick. My boyfriend, who normally doesn't notice nails at all, actually asked if they were press-ons because they looked so bulky and fake. It's only been about a week, and because of the large gap near the cuticle, they already look like they've grown out for several weeks. I know sometimes a last-minute appointment is all you can get, and that's why I stayed. But if I could do it over again, I would have gone somewhere else. Unfortunately, I can't recommend this salon based on my experience.

Seven years ago, my daughters had their nails done by Cassandra when she was at Lollipop in the Camp - once with stamp art, and another time with hand-drawn Pusheens. The art was so memorable that my daughters continued to remember and talk about it years later. Fast forward to a few weeks ago, and my youngest - now 12 - asked for a manicure with Pokemon characters, and we both immediately knew who we would contact: Cassandra! Our appointment was yesterday and she did the most joyful and beautifully detailed art for both girls - Pokemon for one and cats for the other. She took her time, and really connected with the generational vibe of my kiddos (she was super familiar with Pokemon, and asked my eldest if she wanted one of her cats to be derpy!). My very first appointment she talked about nail health and I honestly learned so much. I've been coming back ever since. I have NEVER not been completely satisfied with my nails and the experience. I look forward to coming in and catching up with Rachel and leaving with nails I can't stop staring at. She is an artist through and through and I love showing off her work to everyone I know. I get basic gel (or at least I think it is) and my nails always last - I go about 4 weeks between appointments. I've also gotten by nails done by Grazziela, another artist at Vacation Nail Collective. She too did an amazing job! I've been meaning to book a pedicure with her and have been eyeing her books. Just need to commit! The location is also super cute. There's parking either on the street, the lot behind the building, or a parking structure about a block away (don't worry it's free). If you park in the parking garage there is a very cute cat that lives in the nearby houses and it will likely come out and greet you if you walk by (10/10 experience).
