Our first day at Possum Kingdom lake, we ate lunch here. The outdoor patio and view are great, but it was just too windy to enjoy it. Inside we went. Great waitress that knew every dish. Glenda got the enchiladas lunch special. Of course I stole a bite. Delicious. I had the green chili Swiss cheeseburger. Marvelous! Another great stop on my Texas Burger Bucket List. Are we through? No way! The peanut butter chocolate dessert was really good. The four of us came back one night and split 3 different desserts! Sorry, no pictures. Bad boy! We went for lunch & all I can say is if you happen to like microwaved shrimp then this is the place for you. Grilled shrimp were so so bad. They didn't look nor taste grilled. Barely warmish. We usually don't complain but we were scared we'd get sick. They waitress kindly took off 2 of our meals with shrimp because they were inedible. The other meals were not seasoned & just bland. The prices do not reflect the quality. Even with 2 meals removed we still paid $65 & we had no alcoholic beverages. Sadly, I'd recommend not eating here. read more

I went there for lunch, it was close by and pretty much the only place open. Service was quick and the waitress was friendly. I would have liked the table to be wiped after a guest is done, the wipe can up pretty dark so I guess they don't do it often. The food isn't great. You can tell it's all frozen/canned and that is what they cook with. In the end it's very expensive for what you get. I would have expected at least something to be done in house. I was also pretty disappointed that they only use disposable things like plastic straws, foam cups etc. That's how you get crap in the lake. read more

I was underwhelmed by this spot. I had sausage gravy over biscuits for breakfast and it just wasn't good. The biscuits were large, but tasted like cardboard. The gravy was runny and the only taste I could distinguish was salt. The sausage inside the gravy wasn't fried and crumbled as I expected, but was put in the gravy while raw and the only cook time was simmering in the runny liquid. read more

Stopped there for lunch/early dinner. Had the cheeseburgers with regular fries & sweet potato fries. They were excellent! Burgers were a good size and cooked just right, not greasy. The waitress (I forgot to ask her name) but very nice gal and was rather eager to share with us that she loves where she works and who she works with and for. Very nice to hear when people are treated well and appreciated on both sides. Place was very clean and was a great, comfortable place. We ate at the Bonitaville while on vacation at the Possum Kingdom Lake. We had the calamari, fried catfish, popcorn shrimp, and fries. The smaller catfish basket (under Healthy options) is the right size for one person. The larger one if good if you want to take leftovers for the next meal. The food was very good, and the location is very nice, right on the lake. The wait staff was very attentive. Definitely recommend. read more

We had lunch here on a recommendation from a local when we were visiting PK lake. It was around 100 degrees outside, so we ate inside, in a tiny, cramped room overlooking the lake. My stool was crooked, so I changed it out for another that was just as crooked. I spent the entire meal trying to keep from falling forward. The first thing I noticed was how pricey it was. $15.95 for CFS. Around the same for fried catfish. The CFS was nothing special, especially for the price. I've had better and cheaper at a chain. My mom's catfish was marginally better, though the frozen french fries were limp and soggy with grease. We couldn't figure out who our waitress was. One woman handed us menus and took the drink order. Another came to take the food order. Then we were ignored entirely. I had to flag someone down to get a tea refill. Even the tea was weak, almost clear. No lemon offered. Service was nonexistent. Finally a third woman brought us the $39 check. Then almost ten minutes went by before she picked up my credit card. The mediocre food wasn't worth half what we paid. Service was worth nothing. It was the first time I've tipped less than 20% in years. My mom told the owner about the terrible service. Owner was apologetic. No need. We won't be back again. Way expensive. No-big-whoop food. Service totally absent. What a waste of time and money. 6/16/18 addendum: It's obvious that the food wasn't "real," wasn't freshly prepared by anyone resembling chefs. Everything was frozen or pre-cooked and just heated up. Frozen, pre-made chicken fried steaks just needed to be unwrapped from the freezer and dropped in a fryolator, then topped with "gravy" made from a package mixed with water. Limp fries or tiny, weird-looking, stuck-together onion rings, soaked with grease because the oil wasn't hot enough, rounded out our sub-par meals. The corn came from a can. Something else I didn't notice but my mom did. She was watching the other tables and two other parties had their orders messed up, with some eating while the others waited. If over-priced glop, non-existent service, and smoking cigarettes on the patio are your cup o' tea (no lemon), this is your spot. But hey, look over there! A lake! read more

Very disappointed in the fried catfish we ordered as take-out from Bonitaville at PK lake. They apparently pound the meat of the fish down to nothing, all 12 pieces were extremely thin. Great for kids! They have a tortoise, prairie dog and other small critters to keep them happy while grown ups can sit lakeside with their awesome sangria! Nachos were pretty good, but the kids ham-cheese, club and chicken salad sandwiches were very basic and pricey for what you got. Will try the burgers and grilled chicken sandwiches next time to see if the grill measures up to the prices. Overall, we went back for the atmosphere and excellent service. La Bonitaville Restaurant is a good place to eat and have a little fun. The owner and son work hard to insure top notch food and a fun atmosphere, however there are a few employees who live in a fantasy land who lied about me and wife trying to have an affair with other people. We have been married more that 30 years and both of us wear our wedding rings when we leave the house. The son told me to stop coming, because of other employees twisted and reckless lies. I sincerely hope that the family choose their employees more wisely. read more

Pretty good food, great environment, terrible service. Nearly 3 hours to eat lunch on a Sunday afternoon at 1:30. Orders wrong, orders missed, then the waitress had to take our order again to get our check. Had to go inside and ask for our check. Had to go back inside to give our credit card. Had to go back inside to get credit card and sign. Took 30 minutes to pay. Simply a bunch of kids running the place that didn't care. Very passive attitudes. Sad, because it is a great place. We had lunch here a week ago. The best part about the place was the view of the lake. All of the fried stuff we had (onion rings, fries, chicken fingers) were good. I got the California wrap sandwich, and it had the worst guacamole that I've ever had - it tasked like olives and had the consistency of old mustard that has begun to separate. I couldn't eat it. The chocolate molten cake dessert was good, but the "molten" part of it was ice cold and had not been warmed up. Service as ok. read more

The atmosphere is pretty good..I got the BLT and got onion rings instead of the chips it come with..it was ok they definitely piled on the bacon but on really cheap bread was pretty tasty though...waiter was nice but seemed inexperienced however it is off season...I'd like to give it another go this summer read more

My husband and I had lunch here today. I was so disappointed. My husband ordered a patty melt and I ordered a BLT. My husbands patty melt was disgusting. The hamburger patty was frozen and then microwaved. My BLT had tons of bacon on it however it was very fatty and probably microwaved too. Not only was the food bad and pricey the service was just as bad. Don't be fooled by the great patio and the view of the lake. Save your money. It's hard to believe this place has been open since 2011. read more

First thing Is realize there are limited choice for eating out at PK. The place is very 'cozy' for lake tyme. They are limited to wine and beer at the bar but the food is good for the price point and they are always personable. Plus you can boat in (limited free slips) for lunch or dinner, gas up and buy a wakeboard etc while you're there. read more

The servers are extremely slow and inexperienced. The waiter didn't bring our forks until 5 minutes after the food arrived, by which point it was cold. The patio is beautiful, but the inside is nothing special. The food tasted like it was probably frozen & then microwaved. We ordered a side of macaroni and I am 99% sure that what they served us was Easy Mac. Unfortunately it was pretty pricey as well. read more

We really like coming to this place! The patio is great, the food isn't bad at all especially on the weekends when they are grilling everything out back, flavor of the shrimp and fish was awesome! Service is sometimes slow; don't be in a hurry- you're on vacation! It's hard to find good help at PK and I think they do the best they can. We took 17 dads and kindergarten daughters here who were camping nearby at the YMCA camp for dinner. The service was excellent. They took great care of the Dads and girls. Our server kept track of 17 separate checks and knew every Dad by first name by end of dinner.
