If you're looking for one of the best patios on Possum Kingdom Lake, Hemingway's Possum Kingdom is the place. The lake views are beautiful, the atmosphere is relaxing, and it's a great spot to enjoy a meal and a drink. We sampled several items from the menu. The burger was good, but not $18 good. The chicken wrap was solid but didn't particularly stand out. The real highlights were the catfish, which was cooked perfectly, and the pizza, which was absolutely exceptional and easily the best thing we ordered. Our server was clearly handling a lot of tables, but she remained friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. Between the delicious food, tasty drinks, and fantastic patio overlooking the lake, we had a great experience. We'll definitely be back, and next time we're planning to try some of the more upscale dinner options on the menu. read more

We live in Mineral Wells and there isn't a place that has a good steak. So my husband and I will driver the 45 mins to the lake to Hemmingways for their ribeye! We just moved to this area, and what a gem this place is! The food is incredible as is the service and the views. We went here for lunch on Friday and I had the chicken fried chicken and my wife had the smash burger. Both entrees were magnificent! It was so good we came back that night for dinner and everything was amazing again. The Cajun pasta was out of this world and my top shelf margaritas were as well. We came on a Monday not knowing the patio was closed (we're from Lubbock, TX) since we had my dog with me and my boyfriend but they seated us inside since it was 104° outside and they didn't want my dog to get hot. We had very good meal and they provided my dog with free water. My dog was well behaved and we all had a good enjoyable dinner there even with unexpected plans of the patio. I am back to give a glowing review of one of the best spots on Possum Kingdom Lake. When I say it is the best spot on Possum Kingdom Lake I am not holding back. The view of the harbor is fantastic, the indoor ambiance and amazing patio are just a few of the many things that make Hemmingway's top notch. With new management of Wendy & Kirk not a single thing is overlooked. They are both the hardest workers, and friendliest faces along with our fantastic server Mikayla. The service is impeccable, the food - gosh where do I start!! Portions are enough for 2 on most all dishes, taste is superb, and presentation is the best. We had the dip trio - couldn't finish it, and we were a party of 4, the chicken fried steak - 10 out of 10, and drinks to die for. Edit: FYI, to the manager or owner or whoever said this didn't happen in May, 2024. This most certainly did happen in May, 2024. It was the night that it appeared that there was a bachelorette party or some sort of celebration with a large group oh young women. We have a credit card receipt to prove it. I also have only given one "one star" review regarding Hemmingway's and it was in May. We really like the food at Hemmingway's. That's why we came back. Your denying that this happened to us last month and the way you have treated us in the past is inappropriate and not professional. We arrived around 7:45-8:00. We were told it would a 30 minute wait for a table. Not a problem. We sat at their bar and had a drink. We got to our table and waited for a while for the waitress to show up. When she finally showed up, we asked for a menu. She said no menus. Use the QR code. My husband ordered a beer and when she finally brought the beer, we ordered our food, shrimp and the baked chicken. She informed me that they had run out of chicken, so I ordered the bake ziti. Nothing too difficult to prepare. She brought my husband's salad. We waited and waited. We asked twice when our food would be ready. She said she would check. She came back after a long wait and apologized and said they were backed up because of so many big parties of people. She said it would be a little while longer. She came back a little while later and said there were two orders ahead of us and showed us a screen shot of the board. She said it would be at least 20 more minutes and she said it with hesitation. Time was then 9:50. We told her that was ridiculous. We asked if we could just order a baked potato. She said she could serve us chips, salsa and guacamole, no baked potato! We said no thanks, just bring us the check for the beer. Also, during all of the time we waited, she never offered to refill my water or ask if my husband would like another drink. I understand that it's a Saturday night. But, to wait almost two hours to eat for a party of two is unacceptable. read more

A wonderful atmosphere with absolutely delicious food. Sitting outside provides wonderful views of the lake where you can enjoy live music at night. You couldn't ask for a better location to dine outside and watch the sunset on the lake. Not only is the atmosphere amazing, but the food is delicious. We ate there twice while staying on the lake for a long weekend vacation. The first time we had their pizza and second time the chicken fried steak. We brought home the leftovers and ate them on our 6 hour drive back home......that's how yummy the food was! OMG, I wish they had 10 stars to rate this Resturant. Was out on the lake yesterday with my buddy. We were hungry and wanted to try this place out. Got there and had to ask to order a beer, got the beer and waited for menus . Bartender didn't ask if we hungry, I guess they were too busy on their phones to be attentive. I had to ask for menus. Mediocre food and horribly slow service with waitresses who always complain about how many other tables they have to serve (4 tables shouldn't be something to complain about). Couldn't even get a to go order ready in 2.5 hours. The nice thing about it is the location and ambiance, but everything else could improve.
