We often visit our family lake house in Graham and this is a quick drive from there. We absolutely love coming here. It has a nice dining area and plenty of space inside for diners. My husband loves their fried catfish and says that it is some of the best he's had. We also love the hush puppies & fried okra! We have ordered a variety of foods from here (chicken fried steak, chicken tenders, grilled shrimp salad) and everything has come out delicious. I also love their blackberry Mojito. We had dinner and lunch at the Hungry Fox while staying nearby. We really enjoyed it both times. First was dinner: Queso with chorizo (great) for an app, then we had Their Smash-burger special & grilled fish - both were great! They had live music later in the evening which was fun. The following day we decided to go back (both because it was good and there aren't a lot of options without driving an hour around the lake). Second time around we got nachos for an app (great). I enjoyed the smash burger so I got that again, we also got the fried catfish. The catfish was good enough. They have a great bar, and a surprisingly good bourbon selection. The Meh: The beer on tap was barely chilled, borderline room temp. Get a bottled beer. The service was okay, they were moderately busy but it felt understaffed. This wasn't really an issue because it's the type of place you go to hangout, not to expect the best service of your life. The waitresses were busting their butts to take care of everyone. Overall it was a great spot, we went twice in the 2 days we were there, so that says enough. If you're debating on somewhere to go, just go here. read more

I'm never one to rant on a restaurant as we have owned one ourselves and know how much it takes to run a tight ship and provide excellent service, but tonight we went to the HUNGRY FOX for the first and very last time. We were BANNED. LOL. And this is no ordinary experience..... We checked in with an hour wait. The place was packed out the door, no big deal because we really wanted chicken fried steak. While waiting we strolled over to the FOXY CANTINA, That place was terrible from the second we walked in the door. Service was at level zero. Nobody greeted us. We sat for 20 minutes with nobody's attention. Finally flagged down a waitress and ordered drinks and some cheese sticks. That took 15 minutes. We asked for our check immediately because they had opened the big bay window without warning and flies covered the entire place. Including our food. It was disgusting. After about 10 more minutes one waitress asked how we were doing and we let her know we asked for our check as soon as they opened that door and let the flies in. She asked who was taking care of us and we let her k know that we had barely been served and weren't happy. We eventually went to the bar and paid without our waitress and left to enjoy the lake while waiting for our table at The Hungry Fox. We were seated and the service was excellent the food was amazing BEST OKRA I've had EVER!!! When we asked for our check we bragged to our waitress about how great the service was compared to the place across the way...... and said we would never try that place again but our food was perfect and we were very happy with the way we were treated at The Hungry Fox. Then a little blonde lady with short hair, apparently part of the ownership comes up as were on our way out and rudely tells us THE POSSUM HOLLOW IS NEXT DOOR YOU SHOULD GO OVER THERE. I said you were obviously offended by my criticism of the other place but I'm not going to lie they sucked. She says we own both and if you are going to talk shit about them we don't want you here. Don't come back. I proceeded to tell her F$&K YOU go tell your staff to step it up then lady and you bet your ass I'm writing a review now. She told me go ahead they'll know its just you, and YOU wont even matter. She literally followed us out to the parking lot yelling screaming and cussing at us very loudly and brought other staff outside as well and continued to follow us to our car harrasing us. Chased my car and yelled out that she wrote down our plates as we were pulling out. I told her she really needed to get a grip and take a look at her behavior along with many other choice words by this point. We had felt threatened by her aggressivly approaching us at our vehicle. To make it even more unbelievably crazy is that were even followed out of the parking lot and 10 miles out from the restaurant by a big white ford extended cab driving reckless and speeding around us on the road. This is the most despicable way I have ever seen any establishment allow their staff to behave and I will be calling the BBB. That lady had to have been drunk on the job or really needs to be replaced either way!!! I would NEVER allow anyone to act this way over a critical comment of my establishment. How embarrassing for them! read more

Cool place on the lake. Tried it for lunch one week day when it got hot. It was a cool place to relax and the food was great!

The service was great, the food was awesome. The restaurant was clean. Everyone was friendly. I would definitely return.

Didn't realize they'd switched solely to family style dining for dinner. $14.95 per adult, pick your protein and 2 family sides for the table, ($3.95 additional sides) salad and hush puppies for appetizers. Salad was fresh and cold, pretty generic though, iceberg, some grated cheese, croutons, and grape tomatoes. Choice of dressing. Hush puppies were okay. I ordered the fried catfish because it's always good, and it was this time too. But I liked the old catfish dinner for $13.95 that included hush puppies, slaw, beans, and 1 side. The family style service is a little clunky, service itself was sporadic, I think they're trying to make the family style idea work to turn tables faster, but just put in a buffet if you're gonna do it that way, how often does a four top agree on two sides? That's about the same average price for a weekend dinner buffet. I liked the menu better the old way, maybe they'll change it back. Catfish was still good though. read more

We visited the Hungry Fox on a Friday night Memorial Day Weekend. The restaurant was full and had people waiting. We had no idea what was going to ensue. They had us wait and cleaned us a table. We were seated 23 minutes. The hostess came by and was like have you been taken care of - and we replied NO. She politely took our order of drinks and went to get our waitress. It was her first night. The hostess also told us it was her first night - YIKES on a Holiday Weekend. Poor planning. Unfortunately all did not go well. We are supposed to be served hush puppies and salad after beverages. Now it has been over an hour, and probably should have left, but there were 6 of us and the kids were hungry. Many customers were looking around in dismay. No one had food, some had the hush puppies and salad, and like us some had nothing. We walked to pursue a manager and requested a plate of french fries for the kids, thinking this would satisfy them for a bit and that they would have some cooked up. This is a family style restaurant. Well more waiting. We came at 6:15 and at 8:20, we had made many inquiries about our dinner, and finally told the manager she had 5 minutes to get food on our table or we were leaving. She brought out fish and fries, but not complete anything. we asked for boxes and a complete fish order for 4 which was 6 pieces of fish per adult - family style - we were brought out more fish and left. This was the most horrific experience to watch play out. Full restaurant, and only thing you could consistently get was from the bar - i.e. a drink or beer of which we were not ordering. A restaurant full of unhappy people with no food coming out of the kitchen. Worst experience EVER - The fist and tarter sauce was good, but who has 2 hours to wait and all the frustrations to go along with it. I will never go back for fear of a repeat experience. The Manager was overwhelmed and extremely rattled. She did not work well under pressure and she had plenty of pressure - a restaurant full of unhappy, hungry people!!!!!!!! This place looks scary. The getting to it is again a bit scary by car- fine by boat. The service is laid back very simple sort of place- probably family owned and ran. The food is AWESOME. I really can't say that I have ever strayed from the catfish myself... it is too freaking delicious to even think of trying anything else. We have also had the nachos as appetizers and they were yummy as well. You HAVE to try this place!!! Some of the best catfish I have ever eaten so 3 stars! The tartar sauce was excellent as well. The rest of the meal was mediocre and the service was flat out awful. The ice tea was tasteless, the coleslaw was bland and no employee ever once acted like they were remotely happy to be there. Had to ask for mustard three times, and had to go and get our own napkins and lemons. The young blond waitress actually walked off WHILE WE WERE ASKING FOR SOMETHING!! Nobody was friendly at all. When tourists are where you make your money, be nice to them! read more

I am not a catfish fan but the catfish at this place is amazing!! Have had the blackened catfish several times and never been disappointed. The bartender/waitress at the cantina, Jasmine, is great!! Very friendly and attentive! We ordered the fried strings and pickles and SHE sent them back because they looked terrible! Terry, on the dock, was friendly and helped us secure our boat. The biggest complaint is that they only serve beer and wine! Wine based cocktails... A full bar would be a great addition to this place!! read more
