Hubbs has a small plane and likes to fly semi-locally and get lunch on a weekend. We flew to the airport right next to this place, hopped the barbed wire fence, and were there around 2pm on a Saturday. The green chili cheeseburger was recommended by several helpers. I was skeptical, but this was a shockingly GREAT burger. A hand/formed patty, and you could definitely taste the green chilies. They were not hot, but provided great smoky flavor. A bit of bacon, lettuce, onion and cheese rounded out this burger perfectly. I will be thinking about this burger for a while, and probably should never go back bc it won't live up to this expectation again. The onion rings were on point too--Hand battered. A minor quibble would be they could have been sliced a bit thinner. I didn't love the high top tables and chairs that seemed a bit wobbly. Bathroom was clean (a lighted light switch would be a great improvement since that bathroom is dark.) Service was good and fast. read more

Two hour wait for food, it was incredibly busy with large parties but two and a half hours wait on 7 people was too long. If you're a smaller party it seems fine, waitress was nice and was attentive, I don't blame her I blame the kitchen and management. I understand it's a "dive bar" but the place really was very dirty. Be careful sitting outside there's tons of spider webs and spiders above your head. read more

I have been to this place 20-30 times over the last 5-6 years. It's usually ok and is exactly what you would expect... a dive bar with ok burgers etc. I will never go back after tonight. We were not acknowledged until we had been sitting at the table for 20 minutes. We quickly ordered and received our food 2 hours later. I'm guessing this was the responsibility of the kitchen, but our waitress was equally terrible. We rented a house on Possum Kingdom lake for the weekend. The first night we ate here and were very pleased with the place. It is a bar but it's kid friendly, so that's a plus. Lots of families came in. Our waitress, of course I forgot her name, was fantastic. I ordered whatever she recommended. We started with oysters, which were great. The salad bar is in a boat, which was cool. Great selection on the salad bar. Now we get serious. A medium rare ribeye and loaded baked potato. Yummy! It was wonderful to the last bite. The music wasn't too loud. The drunks weren't too loud. It was a great evening! Let's do it again! read more

Went here on a Friday night, arrived at around 6:30pm. There were a few cars at first, but man did people start showing up! Apparently someone was celebrating a birthday. The music was really LOUD - so much so, that the 2 other couples my wife and I met there couldn't hardly visit. I ordered the fried catfish with onion rings and it was just ok. Could have been worse, just didn't blow me away. The server was very good, however. Got our orders right, gave us our separate checks without error, and checked on us frequently. First time we ate here was to go & my kids love their chicken strips. 2nd went in; we had a big group and everybody was accommodating & staff was great. The salad bar was delicious and my catfish was delicious. 2x we went inside I had the salad bar again plus the chicken fried chicken and that was delicious. And they seemed to be short staffed this round. We waited an extremely long time, and my kiddos were hangry by the time we got her food. It has a laid-back atmosphere. Overall had a terrible experience. Our server seemed like she had never worked in a restaurant before and our wings and burger took over 45 minutes to come out. Both our meals were cold and the quality of chicken was awful. Much to pricy for such a mediocre experience and would never dine there again. My husband and I ate late lunch/early dinner here tonight. (4pm). It had a few customers already. We couldn't find a waitress to give us a menu. She finally came over with menus and took our drink orders. She was pleasant and friendly but we couldn't ever find her. Meal came about 40 minutes after ordering. Really for 2 hamburgers?? She never came back to ask how it was or if we needed anything. Burgers were way over cooked, dry and tastless. I would not recommend going here if you are in a hurry and want good burger! read more

They have one of the best, freshest salad bars in the area. It can get noisy, because there is a pool table and shuffle board where players can get exuberant, and juke box always providing music in the background. You can belly up to the bar or choose seating from tall tables, regular tables, or booths. It appears to be a family-friendly dining experience, with a separate room for smokers. read more

Went to Boondocks last Monday 5/28/18 for lunch. The restaurant was only half full. We ordered chicken fried chicken and a hamburger steak dinner. After 45 mins of waiting for our food I got our waitress's attention and asked if our food was almost ready and she told us she would go check. Well after an hour we still had no food and our waitress never came back. So me and my husband decided to walk out. Lack of service seems to be a huge issue here. read more
