Service: 2 stars Food: 3 stars We stayed next door/above the Bonne Bouche. I was excited as I looked through the patisserie windows and ogled the walnut pie and other goodies. It certainly made breakfast easy staying here. This reviews is based off two morning visits back to back. The first morning we went in and it was hard to effectively communicate with the staff. Not sure why, there was no language barrier. I think how I was working out the people and orders in my head they were becoming impatient and the store was busier with more and more people entering after us. I vowed the next day I would not be the problem and it was a better transaction but I have to say I identified that the employees were not very friendly or interested in delivering great customer service. So go for the food not the service (and this is all from the to go shop not the eat in shop on the left.) Breakfast sandwich with bacon: good Breakfast sandwich with sausage: my husband said the bacon was better Croissant: fine Walnut pie: delicious (I've never had this before!) Yogurt with honey: no complaints from my cousin Cinnamon pretzel: hard and my 8 year old did not enjoy it. I tried it and I would not order again Tea: standard Coffee: standard I also tried some sort of white chocolate ball but was disappointed when milk chocolate was in the center. A London coffee shop, and one that was just around the corner from our hotel. As such I was eventually going to find myself here, not that I found it all that great. In a way it was a little tacky, but in a trendy sort of way. The problem that I had was that they basically much up my coffee, and didn't seem to be all that pleasant in other ways. Okay, I might be being a little harsh, but the place really didn't seem to warm to me all that much. Maybe because it isn't actually just a coffee shop, but then again from what I could see from the outside it was. read more

Since I kept seeing traditional English breakfasts everywhere (duh, we were in London), I decided to try one myself. The place was very nice, and a had a good selection of pastries and menu items. I craved tea, so I ordered the breakfast tea. It was very hot and tasty, no sugar necessary. The breakfast (picture) was quite delicious, although filling, to the point where I could not finish it! It came with my choice of toast bread as well. My friend had a sesame baguel with cream cheese and ham, as well as a glass of mango juice and she liked both, so I would recommend this place. My only con was the language barrier between the waitress and us, since she spoke very little English. However, she was nice and prompt, and the guy behind the counter was very lively, so I'd recommend this place. read more

I didn't realise this was a chain, but they are good at what they do. Okay, so I'm a sucker for the multitudes of truffles, fruit flans and larger cakes, but the french baguettes with turkey and cranberry, brie and ham, and chicken and bacon are absolutely delish. Unfortunately if you want to sit in they up the prices by 60p for table service and the use of cutlery, but they will also do you a nice quiche or add a side of salad or chips to your sandwiches. The sit-in cafe area is small but there are about six tables in there. The staff are nice, but in such a tourist area I think they get run off their feet easily. read more

I ordered chicken escalope on ciabatta and it was very bland. It came with a salad and what looked like a half packet of crisps. The sandwich needed some mayo or something. I forgot that in the UK there aren't free refills so you have to pace yourself when drinking your soda. The place was pretty small, but pretty standard for London. The desserts in the glass looked good but I didn't get to try any. One side of the place was fine in and the other side was take away. I'd go with the take away side next time. read more

I don't like it. There. I said it. I feel like I've just said something sinful considering the number of regulars it has, and the length of the lunchtime queues trailing out of the door. The coffee is bad, and there's something just off the mark with their pastries, traybakes and cakes. I can't quite figure it out... whether they're stale, or bad quality ingredients, or just simply the wrong proportion of ingredients. I've tried too many times to like it, purchasing Friday sweet treats several times. I eagerly open the paper bag, take a bite... and it's just such a letdown and not worth eating more. read more

I was passing by this shop many times, and a few weeks ago I finally decided to get in. I should not have done that! ;) As I needed some lunch, I chose some toasted baguette - which was very very tasty. But even better than there baguettes etc. are, I assume, all the desserts, cakes, and staff they have to offer. I went for a piece of strawberry cake, but almost anything behind the counter looked incredibly delicious, so I'm afarid I have to go there many times to try all the good stuff ... my strawberry (or raspberry? don't remember exactly) cake was fantastic. This nice little bakery is a place you should not miss if you wander around Paddington and like either desserts or sandwiches! read more

The sandwich portions are generous for the prices, and they have a wide selection. The bread looks better than it tastes, and they use cheap mayonnaise. The coffee is disappointing; the massive cake section is a bit hit and miss. The ladies that work there are really fast, friendly and gorgeous; swiftly dealing with the queues of customers that arrive every day. read more

Disclaimer: I was on the hunt for croissant this morning. Specifically of the viennoiserie. Ok granted I have never been to France and tried viennoiserie pastries there, I can only judge from the viennoiserie-variety one can get around Silicon Valley and areas close by (think Bouchon Bakery, Yountville or Tartine, SF). So when I looked the term up around my hotel area, I came up with Paul and Bonne Bouche. I tried Paul first, took a bite and promptly put the croissant away and headed to Bonne Bouche. I am betting that Paul's Paddington station is just too small for better quality control with their pastry but back to Bonne Bouche's croissant... The first bite of the croissant was crispy, I pulled out the inside and it was fluffy and chewy. Yom! 4 stars from me. read more

Firstly the cakes and other foods here are delicious and there is a wide choice. It is popular at lunchtime and although staff try hard you may have to wait for service. Two reasons to drop a star: firstly it is quite expensive. Secondly they are still handing out single-use plastic forks, it is time all businesses behaved more responsibility towards the environment and offered biodegradable cutlery. read more

Bonne Bouche, popular with medical students, doctors, nurses and hospital staff galore (mostly due to its location right opposite St Mary's Hospital, Paddington), as well as other local workers. This little bakery/patisserie/sandwich shop does exactly what it says on the tin - a good mouth(ful). They have a good range of rolls, baps and sandwiches as well as the panini variety made fresh with tasty fillings. The bread itself can be a bit stodgy, and the filling very mayonnaisey but sometimes you just need to treat yourself. And why not give in and get a cream bun or apple turnover while you are there. For those with eyes bigger than their stomachs they do full size cakes and gateaus as well. Prices are very reasonable and you can walk away with a baguette/sandwich etc... plus a drink, big packet of crisps and a pastry or bun for less than a fiver. Perfect for beating those lunchtime pangs. read more

A very standard place, nothing special here. However the sale on sandwiches (after 6 pm) makes it worth a visit every once in a while.

Best place we have found so far! Their croissants are fabulous & so are their panini! The staff is friendly & provide prompt service! Highly recommended, if you're anywhere near by, don't miss the opportunity to experience this wonderful bakery. I love their cappuchinos as well! read more
