Due to some scheduling and traveling challenges over the past few months, getting to Epic wasn't convenient for me, so I went elsewhere for a few trims and and no one had been able to fix my bang fiasco. (See another of my reviews for a different place in regards to this ginormous mistake!) I knew that Adrienne could work her magic and correct the problem, so I made an appointment as soon as time allowed. I could no longer stand my "wings" after living with them for several months and had three failed attempts at getting them tamed. I was almost embarrassed to be going back, but I was welcomed back with a big hug and a stylist that was genuinely happy to see me again! As I expected, I walked out loving my fresh color, and of course, my bangs FINALLY were under control and I really liked my style again!! It was a huge relief. I know that sounds a little dramatic, but have you ever been super self-conscious about something? I feel like the stylists at Epic really take the time to listen to what you want, and get to know both you and your hair before they even take the scissors out. I made an appointment several days prior to the day I needed to have this done in order to go on vacation without gray hair. On that day, just 40 minutes before my appointment (it's about a 45 minute drive away), while driving to my appointment, my phone rang and a hair stylist who was not even the one scheduled to do my hair called. She told me they were running "a bit behind ". I assumed she meant about 15 minutes. She then told me it would be an hour later than my appointment! I could NOT do that . I was leaving the next morning and had worked before leaving for this appointment and had not packed and needed some last minute things for my trip. When I informed her I couldn't wait that long and asked why I was just being informed so close to my appointment time, I got no explanation other than "running a bit late". I was then put on hold, she came back and informed me she would "make it work ". I asked how, she replied; " I have my ways". I was so relieved. Then, 5 minutes later, my cell phone went off again and it was the owner, Leslie. She informed me that they could not provide the "quality of service " they usually do, therefore she told me my appointment was cancelled! I told her I needed my hair done for my vacation. She repeated they would not allow me to come in. Completely unprofessional and unreliable! If you need your hair done for any special reason, they cannot be counted on and they make NO APOLOGIES!

I had my hair dyed black with green and purple highlights streaked in two weeks ago. The black and…read morefashion colors started washing out within two days and by a week later my hair was that light ashy brown again. and bleach from under the green was showing through. I knew the fashion colors would wash out but in way way did they tell me it might begin within two days. I would never have spent $240 before tip on a cut and color if they had told me that. And regardless, the black should NOT have washed out. Then when I went back with the plan on letting Crystal re-do it I lost faith in them.when she told me that she used a semi permanent and this time would do a permanent, which of course I assumed was already done. THEN when speaking to Kathleen she said they used a demi not a semi, even though she wasn't the one who did my hair. She also told me that she had worried about the color lasting when I told them that day that I had issues with color in the past fading quickly. So my next question was, WHY didn't you say something that day when I asked instead of telling me not to worry, the chemicals used are different, and that it would work out just fine. I was so happy when it was done, and now so sad, and no, I wont let them touch my hair again. Either I was intentionally lied to, misled, or they just don't know what the heck they're doing, and either way I don't trust them anymore. They wouldn't refund any of the money, even though I told them I thought the cut was awesome and that I wasn't asking for a full refund since part of the service was great. I just expected them to recognize the poor quality of service for the rest and respect that after their stories kept changing that I would prefer not to have them re-do it for me. Apparently my expectations were too high. Addendum: My mom was upset on my behalf and commented on the photos of my hair on the company FB page which began a back and forth comment war between her and the owner, who again altered her story, adding to it, and changing it. She even stated that medication was the reason that my hair color didn't take, and that her client (that would have been me) told her I took medication. This was a fabrication. The day I had my hair done I showed a cute little pill case to her that I had found recently because she was talking about trying to find something like that. She commented that I must take a lot of meds to carry a pill case around with me to which I advised her that I take a number of vitamins over the course of the day as I had had weight loss surgery in the past. Her tale has changed so many times that I'm sure that some would understand my reluctance to have them try and fix my hair. Now, if, as the owner said the day I came into the salon to talk about these issues, she was concerned about medication that might effect my hair taking the color why was I told the day of the treatment when I expressed concern regarding my past history with hair color that it would be no problem and that the chemicals they use are different? It is now my opinion that what was said was simply what needed to be said to have me get my hair done there that day, because once the money was in hand I would have no recourse but to have them re-do my hair if it came out poorly, or walk away with nothing. Isn't it telling that I chose to walk away from the $240 plus tip I spent then have people who omit and misrepresent information, and outright lie when called on their conflicting statements, touch my hair again. I very much regret that there was an issue here, and truly wish it could have been dealt with appropriately and considerately, but instead it became fodder for drama, which is something I neither need nor want in my life. I am cross posting my review at other sites, including YELP, Yahoo and YellowPages in case, like the conversation with my mom, this review is deleted from the company's FB review page. I am sure this business will survive, and indeed, I don't want to see it go out at all even with this experience. There are few enough local merchants and service providers in our neighborhoods, and I think they are sorely needed. What I do here is choose not to remain silent, to express my experience as best I can, and let others decide what they will do with the information.
