I came by the store last weekend during the heatwave and was helped by Mario B. This was my first time going to a clothing store that provided tips and fashion advice on how to pick out pieces that complement each other. Mario had me try on clothes that best fit my body type and definitely made sure that my girlfriend and I were comfortable in the store by giving us water to cool down during the record breaking heat. It's hard as a man to go shopping. Luckily my wife took me and MARIO helped us out big time. He patiently helped me try on about 6 different dress shirts and found the right fit. The first shirt I tried on had a 16'' neck which i thought was much too small. Then all the 16.5" necks made the shirts too baggy. I recently visited a Bonobos store while traveling and was initially pleased to have the opportunity to try on their clothing in person. The store itself was small and somewhat cramped, with a limited selection of items available for browsing. Despite the tight space, I managed to find a suit, a few shirts, and a blazer. The fit in the store seemed acceptable, though a bit snug; the salesperson assured me this was the intended style. However, when the items arrived at my home via their central shipping, the fit was much worse than expected. The suit pants were uncomfortably small, and the suit coat restricted my arm movement. The shirts were too short, riding up when I walked. I decided to return the items, but quickly realized there was no packing slip included in the shipment. Additionally, their website only allowed exchanges for the same size-there was no straightforward process for returning items for a refund. The return process itself was frustrating and inconvenient. There was no direct customer service email, phone number, or chatbot available, only an online form that provided little to no assistance and no confirmation of receipt. I was required to print my own return label and find a shipping location, which was not always conveniently located. Overall, my experience with Bonobos was disappointing, especially regarding their return policy and customer service. If Bonobos wants to maintain loyal customers, they need to make significant improvements to their in-store selection, sizing accuracy, and, most importantly, their return and customer service processes. They do nothing to win back business. This is why men hate shopping for clothes, especially online. read more

I was a fat guy visiting San Francisco, and all I brought was "soft pants" because my partner said we were going to have a "casual" and "relaxing" weekend. I needed some real pants! Bonobos, from the website, carries my size, but this place is for fine clothing, which is not something I'm interested in, but if that's your jam, good for you! Popped my Bonobos IRL shopping experience yesterday. To be honest, I didn't know I was walking into a GuideShop as I just put Bonobos in my Maps app and walked to the closest one! I had only previously ordered some of their clothes online so I was excited to try some of their fits that I'd been curious about. I was assisted by the lovely Lead Guide, Ashley, and she offered the best suggestions and styles to try out. I was well taken care of and felt comfortable to try on things knowing I wouldn't buy them that day, but for future shopping purchases and be confident what sizes to get. I'd highly recommend coming to the Bonobos GuideShop and getting fitted by one of their helpful and thoughtful Guides. I wanted to see if they had the pants they want, I need navy blue slacks for work. I have a pair at home they're divert nice. they said they don't sell it in store I was cool with that so I told them my size. They said it didn't work like that that I had to try to them on and they would tailor the pants to me so I did. When I got out of the changing room they said they didn't have pants my size, 32 30 a common size, that they're out of stock and asked me if I wanted black when I already told them I wanted navy blue for work. So the whole tailoring thing was a big lie they wasted my time making me take my shoes and pants off just to be disappointed when I could have just shopped online. Now I know but even though I like the pants it was such a shitty customer service experience I will boycott this store. You don't need 3 fucking air heads in a store that their whole job is going on a website. read more

Shopping is often an intimidating experience for me because I don't really know what I'm doing, and it's especially easy to fall into decision paralysis in a store like Bonobos with all its options. However, my guide Ashley Griffin, made it all a very friendly and smooth process. She patiently helped me find the right fit and patterns for me -- we tried on a few sizes and then once I was happy, we went through all the patterns on their tablet and ordered the ones that I liked. For most patterns, I asked if I could see them in real life to know what the colors actually look like, and Ashley always offered to search through the store to find it (and often found it). There were a few technical glitches such as the tablet not loading images or losing internet connectivity, but Ashley persevered by switching tablets and re-selecting whatever was lost. Bonobos - now a part of the Walmart family, has well fitting clothes at an upper middle class price point. The guide shop concept is very interesting. Try it on at the store (after making an appt.) and then they ship it to you. I made an appointment online, and went in for my fitting. It took about a half hour. The service was fantastic and they have many stylish options in several sizes. I struggle with style but my guide (I cant remember her name unfortunately) was fantastic. She was helpful in getting me set up with clothes that matched, fit and a suit that looks fly. They have 3 styles of pants(skinny, athletic, normal) and many styles of shirts. I walked out with a suit and 2 shirts for +\-$400; as a point of reference. I do not believe suits are not full canvas for you suit connisours out there - but as my everyday business wear this should work just fine! I'm interested to see how this suit wears with time, it seems like it should be pretty resilient but I'm deducting a star for the fact that you can not acquire items in their store. read more

Ordered over $1,000 worth of clothes on 5/18 and it's still "being prepared in our warehouse". A friend ordered two items and they were delivered in 3 days. Ever since Walmart bought them out, their customer service has been HORRENDOUS. Go back to the Bonobos way .. current process is horrible and painful working with customer service agents. read more

I've been purchasing most of my wardrobe items from Bonobos for at least the last five years, maybe longer. The slim fit style of the suits, blazers, and shirts is very flattering and takes years off my apparent age. Most of my experience has been with the San Francisco guideshop, working with Keneth, who understands my sense of style and colors extremely well and passes on suggestions for my consideration. Whenever I've encountered technical problems, such as (for example) applying credit from a gift card, Keneth has worked quickly behind the scenes to make everything work smoothly. Since Keneth knows my taste and fit, he assembles orders for my review and sets up the cart so all I have to do is say OK. If ever I have a problem with fit, Keneth arranges for a very quick substitution. I couldn't be more pleased with the Bonobos product and service. I give my highest recommendation. read more

I've been eyeing their pants online for a few months, mainly for golf. I settled in on the Highland golf pants and was about to order the slim in my size, but I decided that trying it on first would be a good idea, so I headed to the Guide Shop on my lunch break. When people get to a door, their instinct is to grab the handle and open it, which is exactly what I did but it didn't budge. I started to look around for a doorbell of some sort, but then saw a sign on the door to pull it hard for it to open. Finally inside, I jumped onto the elevator and ascended to the second floor to the Guide Shop. Right when I walked in, I was greeted and helped. I told them exactly what I was looking for someone went into the back to find my size. They pulled a different color but I was there to see the fit so that didn't really bother me. I tried the "slim" cut on and it wasn't the way I wanted it to fit so I was glad that I went there to try them on. They then gave me the same pair in a "tailored" fit and they were absolutely perfect. Exactly what I was looking for. A nice thin pair of golf pants that would do well in hot weather with a little stretch to them. I headed back to the office and ordered them online. What was strange was that I was going to just have them order it for me at the Guide Shop, but they said it was out of stock in the color I wanted. When I got back to the office, I selected the same color and size and they were in stock. I know their sales model is strictly online, but it would be nice to walk into this store and actually purchase something. Seems strange to walk in wanting to buy a tie, see the one you like right there, have to order online and wait. It is what is. Other than that, the service was beyond awesome. read more

As a masculine woman looking for men's clothing that fits well, Bonobos is one of the main places I shop due to their wide variety of sizes and guide shop approach that helps you find your perfect fit. They have also always been super welcoming and friendly to me, and have never made me feel weird or othered for being in a men's clothing store. Keneth has helped me out twice now, and has a great eye for fit and patterns. I have been super happy with his service. He actually even stayed after closing time to help me get my order place this past time, which was truly above and beyond. The only bummer for me is their shirts don't fit quite right. I needed a suit for a graduation ceremony. Went to Bonobos 3ish weeks before the event which I acknowledge is cutting it close for a tailored look, but the clerk was supportive and helped me pick out the right suit for the event. Now the rough part. I'm a bigger guy, not huge, or at least I don't think I am, the suit I ended up being sold was just outside what I wanted to get, but dealing with my covid weight gain I felt I needed to make the compromise. I was told they'd have my suit ready and delivered to me the week ahead of my trip. Instead of arriving I was told two days ahead of the trip that my order was cancelled on their end as they're no longer making clothing for sizes above 40R. I was devastated, to say the least. I ended up going in a patchwork suit put together last minute, and feeling incredibly embarrassed the entire event in an ill-fitted suit. On top of this the refund for my cancelled order took weeks to arrive which deprived me of the funds to buy another suit, without being in the hole for over a grand total. Their clothes are cute, fashionable, and off qa decent quality. I guess it's fine if your a thin person, or at the very least have a waistline that they're still willing to cater to. read more

I absolutely LOVE Bonobos. I have been stalking them online for a while and finally bought some pants. I love shopping online but wanted to try the pants on and did so at their SF guideshop. Giovanna was very helpful and friendly. She was incredibly helpful as I looked at pants, suits, coats etc. I liked the ability to have a 1 on 1 session with someone helping me pick out clothes. I happened to have my girlfriend with me but if you are a single guy this is like having a girlfriend with good taste in clothes helping you out. My problem in the past had always been that pants were either too tight or too baggy. My solution was Hugo Boss clothes or Banana Republic slim fit but even Banana had shirts that were a bit too long or just a bit too baggy. I recently purchased $200 jeans at Nordstrom and I found that I liked my $80 Bonobos jeans much more and they fit way better. I have found that as Americans have gained more weight the sizing of pants followed so the fit of pants and shirts was not ideal for me at 5'10" and 180 lbs. I consider myself athletic and wanted clothes that were not super tight but fit my form well. If you are a 32 x 32 for pants you should be in luck as they may have your size as the samples in the store. Bonobos nails this fit concept. I love their jeans and chinos and I am currently drooling over the purchase of a Gramercy top coat and their Navy trench coat. Price-wise the jeans are moderately priced. I consider cheap jeans to be $30-$60, middle priced $60-$120 and high end at $120+. Bonobos jeans are around $98 and they usually have sales so it's a great price point for me and the fit is AWESOME. read more

Bonobos has an interesting business model: Their sales are 100% online, but they still have a handful of stores. You can't make purchases at the stores, but you can go to try things on. Their salespeople are incredibly helpful too and will make sure you know what size to order. Overall, this is hands down the best way to buy men's pants. Their approach is perfect for me: make just a few kinds of pants, but make them really well and in a ton of colors. Their core item is the men's chino. The fit is perfect. If you go with their stretch chino ($10 extra), the little bit of stretch in them makes them the most comfortable nice-looking pants I've ever worn. And did I mention they look great? Other items I've tried here include shirts and shorts. Their button-up shirts are decent - the fit isn't as good or as consistent as the pants. Their shorts are awesome - made exactly the same as their regular chinos. There are technically no "stretch shorts", but their line of golf shorts is supposed to be stretchy. I haven't tried those yet. All in all, this place is great! A few of my favorite things: - The fit is super consistent with the pants and shorts (shirts not as much). So once you know your size, there is zero guesswork involved with ordering from them in the future - They are constantly coming out with fun seasonal and limited edition items....think red and green pants at Christmas time, flannel-lined chinos for winter, or flower-printed chinos for summer - They offer 20% off to new customers - They have an awesome return policy: 90 days to get your money back, or up to a year for store credit And my only complaints: - They have some inventory problems. Maybe this is a sign that business is really picking up for them, but they always seem to be sold out of items I want, and there isn't a good way to predict when items will be back in stock (some are seasonal and don't come back until the following year) - Their default free shipping method comes from the east coast and is super slow (their expedited is very quick at least). I bought two pair of the Weekday Warrior pant at Nordstrom and liked them enough to want more. Unfortunately Nordstrom like other stores is closed and I required them asap for a new gig. The slacks came after too long a delivery period and.....THERE ARE NO TAGS WHATSOEVER on the slacks..nothing. This was my first visit to a Bonobos showroom so I wasn't sure what I was in store for. I've seen the advertisements and catalogues, but never went in. I decided to check it out, and made an appointment online. I got there a little early and was advised to look around until a stylist was free. Some things to keep in mind... You should make an appointment online. They didn't turn people who didn't make appointments away, but you get less personalized attention if you don't register. My Bonobos "guide" was Faye and she was great to work with. Most of the available shirts and sweaters to try on are in medium slim fit or small regular fit -- which luckily worked for me. They have a variety of pants, chinos, knits, ties, and suiting gear. As far as I know, they don't sell shoes. Their shirt patterns are particularly awesome. They have your standard gingham and stripe, but they also have funky floral (at least for spring) and color block pieces. I believe this is an all-year promo, but if you're a first time customer, you receive 20% off your total purchase which helps because the brand itself isn't cheap. When you try on clothes, you have a dressing room, but the mirrors are in the common area -- which was a bit strange. But I figured they did that so the stylists can see how they fit on you... and possibly to show off the display clothes to other customers. (That's my business's strategy guess!) I actually liked this because it created a communal feel and made shopping somewhat more enjoyable that way. Now having tried on the clothes, I went home and purchased them online with peace of mind. I'm not really a fan of online shopping for clothes since you can never be sure about the feel, fit, and finish. The Bonobos Guideshop is a great way to get an idea of what the online shop promises. While I am trying to refresh my wardrobe, I was more interested in how this new online/in-person shopping experience would be. I made an appointment online through Bonobos' website. It's as easy as it should be. The guideshop is located on the second floor of a downtown building. The guideshop is almost exactly what I had pictured. Almost everything Bononbos is well displayed in a touchable manner. There are a couple of fitting rooms in the back with flattering mirrors only on the outside of the fitting room. I would've liked some mirrors on the inside of the fitting room so I could check out my out ass without having a Bonobos witness. You get to try on everything you'd like to. I tried the casuals, dress attire, and a suit with different mix and matches. My Bonobos guide-r was helpful in suggesting different options and styles. I would say that since you're dealing with a Bonobos representative they do try to sway you towards purchasing on the spot. I can't fault them for that. Ordering at the guideshop is essentially the same thing as ordering online but with a Bonobos guide-r behind your back. They said that if you order only through the guideshop you'll get 20% off your first order. But the truth is that you'll get 20% off your first order no matter what. I believe orders will come 1-2 days after online purchase. I did like most of the pants I tried on but I wasn't a fan of the way the suit felt and looked. Most of the shirts didn't feel worth the price. Although I found the Bonobos Guideshop experience to be good, I didn't entirely fall in love with the clothes once I tried it on. I'd love to see more details in the clothing and a less standardized look. It's all subjective. It's not entirely my style. More flavor? I'm not sure how Bonobos is that different from Gap or H&M or other retail online shops. I could easily go to the many other specialized boutique stores in SF and try on equally priced clothing. But that's why I try on clothes in-person, instead of purchasing online. Even though I didn't buy anything that day, my Bonobo guide-r did email me everything I liked along with the fitting sizes. We created a Bonobos account and added the clothes to my shopping cart, however when I logged back into my account the next day I found that the clothes were not saved. This was a bummer since I probably would have easily bought some of the pants on impulse. Some things that would help with the Bonobos Guideshop. 1) Use tablets or custom designed workstations instead of MacBooks to give it a less "in your living room" experience. 2) Have a guidebook at the guideshop to show all the color swatches. Maybe a takeaway so I don't have to look at your website. Maybe have already built wardrobes ready to go so I can pick and choose from the start, rather than build from scratch? 3) Give more incentive to buy directly from the guideshop rather than online. ___ If you're on the fence about Bonobos there's no reason not to try the Guideshop. I'm still not 100% sold on buying clothes online but this is a good start. read more

You buy everything through the website, but you get to try on all the fits and see the colors. I'd been eyeing Bonobos for a while; seen them online and in Nordstrom. They're simple, classy, and trendy, so that definitely appealed to me. Finally saw an awesome sale online with pants starting at $38. But how can I tell the difference between light blue and faded blue? I went into the guideshop on Grant St. to try out the different cuts and see which colors I liked. Elizabeth was uh-mazing! At no point did I feel any pressure to buy things I didn't want. I told her I was only interested in sale items, and that was fine with her. I guess that's the benefit of exclusively online transactions. We tried on the straight versus slim cuts, then washed chino vs. Oxley, then all the different colors.
