There was a small hiccup in our initial experience - when trying to book online, the confirmed appointment time didn't match what was actually requested (tried more than once and it was always off by an hour). In the end, it was easy enough to email the consultant (Maggie) to fix the issue. We met with Maggie a few times over a few months. The initial meeting was getting an idea of what Knot Standard offers, prices, timelines, etc. Throughout the meeting, we felt informed but didn't feel overwhelmed (for the most part) nor pressured to continue the process if it turned out not to be what we needed. The following meetings were consultations + advice, measurements, fittings, and any adjustments. Maggie is very experienced and was able to answer our million questions! In the end, he chose a blue-ish purple fabric (from Italy IIRC) for a 3-piece tux. Very surprised at how well the suits fit my husband. Living in Reno, there is nowhere to shop for suits and because of the shape of my husband (arched back, wider hips) everything he wears for work needs to be tailored with the hopes that the tailor is not only good but current in style. After returning to the office and needing a complete wardrobe refresher, I found Knot Standard during tailored made suit searches. I'm making an appointment was very easy to do online. Maggie was our sales rep and she moved at lightening speed making recommendation of patterns, styles, and textiles. After just a quick 45 minutes, we purchased 3 suits, 2 jackets, and 2 dress shirts. The total was roughly $14k for all of this. Unfortunately one of the suit fabric was out of stock but a close substitute was made. About 6 weeks later, I followed up on the arrival of the clothing and scheduled an appointment for the fitting. During the fitting, my husband and I were shocked that everything fit him perfectly without needing any adjustments. He said the clothes fit him so well, they felt like they were clipped on him like a Lego piece. He was so happy with the look and fit of the clothing, he purchased another suit. Additional Comment-The unfortunate part of my experience is you must be the one to follow up with your suit's arrival. I recently started buying custom shirts and was starting to look for a nice suit for special occasions. I found Knot Standard on yelp and decided to check it out. They were super flexible in working around my schedule (I think for some reason I had my first appointment at 9 am on a Saturday). I worked with Monica who was absolutely great in helping me choose the right styles and the right fabrics (I ended up buying 2 suits and a blazer). I actually had a work event come up where I didn't need a suit, but wanted one. Monica worked to expedite my order and it came in just in time for my event. Super grateful for the Knot Standard team. It was my first time wearing a custom suit, and I literally got a compliment from every person I spoke to at my work event. It was an amazing experience and definitely worth it! While I like to dress well on occasion, I have rarely invested in tailored or bespoke clothing. I do have a handful of custom made shirts and a couple of tailored suites (from a tailor in Shanghai), but the majority of my suits are the off the rack and altered (vs full tailored) from Macy's or Nordstroms. The same goes for my sport-coats and blazers - mostly rack and altered from Bergdorf Goodman in New York. So when the opportunity to get a custom made shirt at Knot Standard, I jumped at the chance - and I am glad I did. IT wasn't just a "what do you want and let's measure you" appointment. We talked for a bit about what I do, when I wear my suits, color schemes I was looking for, etc. before she pulled out any of the large selection of fabric samples. I am glad we had that discussion because I was thinking originally of going for a standard type shirt that would go with one of my suits. But as we were talking I realized that I don't have very many shirts that go well with a couple of my cashmere jackets that I picked up in New York. Since I didn't have them with me, Jocelyn had to quiz me about them enough to get a good match. All the while I had a nice glass of scotch to sip during the process. The attention to detail and customer satisfaction was superb. The suggestions and exchange of alternative ideas was very professional. In the end we picked out the fabric, collar style, cuffs, and all the other details in a way that made me feel comfortable with the selection. When Jocelyn started taking measurements there were more questions - for example she wanted to know which arm I wore my watch (and what style of watch) to make sure the French cuffs were roomy enough for the arm with the watch. BTW, the Chinese tailor did not do this and the French cuff shirts from him are a little snug over the larger watches I wear. Now note, they do not do the tailoring on site - the detailed measurements are taken and submitted and the shirt is made off site in a central facility. That is how they keep the costs to a reasonable level, even with the detail they provide in the end product. So it takes a couple weeks to get the end product back, and the tailor is not on-site. If there are any issues though, they make the complete commitment to address the issues for you. So while they may not have the complete convenience of a Savile Row tailor working right there, the cost is certainly much less. When the shirt came it fit wonderfully. My wife was impressed with the fabric and the colors (white shirt with fine multi color lines) and it matches quite well to the cashmere jackets I was looking to match. I will definitely be back for more. read more

MAGGIE!! - ordered black dinner jacket - came back blue. In November 2022 ordered suit to get the winter promotion of a free outerwear garment - I got the suit alright but, apparently the coat was a false leader cause it still hasn't arrived. It's now August 2023. Maggie's a disaster! So the coat was a pea coat with epaulets and other details - comes back a plain pea coat. So as with all my other orders, it has to go back to manufacturer. So, if you got an occasion you might want to pass on Maggie - she writes things down but apparently doesn't look at her notes when relaying the order so (in my experience) things get missed. I offered to return the suit and take a store credit, since I bought the suit because it came with a free coat - a 2 for1! But of course giving up (a sale, commission?) for the sake of keeping a customer is out of the question. P.S. - I'm awaiting the crap reply about "store policy" blah, blah, blah as if any reputable store's policy is to dishonor it's promotion. read more

Excellent experience and product! I am definitely a fan of tailored clothing with a modest collection of about five tailored suits and ~30 shirts. Bespoke clothing is pricier but I feel is worth the investment for an impressive look that compliments your body. I've used a variety of tailors from the online (like Indochino) to a friend's own company to flying to Hong Kong to go to the acclaimed Sam's Tailor. Knot Standard provides fantastic tailored clothing that rivals the best I've experienced. The tailor Jocelyn is friendly, knowledgeable, and effective. I feel she really wishes to create a personal product for you. The showroom is tucked away on the third floor with an airy and open layout, pleasantly showcasing their shirts and suits. I had a shirt made here and it is the best fitting shirt I have! The tailor talked about how such a proper fitting shirt would emphasize my shoulders and lengthen my look, creating a taller silhouette. Candidly, the first time I wore the shirt I got that exact compliment going out! I am interested in their suits should I need one. I also had my measurements taken to determine the fit and design of my shirt. There's a diverse selection of colors and fabrics to choose from, all of which look high quality. I was looking to have a suit made for a friend's upcoming wedding. I flew to San Francisco (the closest KS showroom to me) for the initial fitting. I was supposed to be handled by Jocelyn and then had to reschedule, so Gino (the manager) took over. A second last-minute delay in my schedule, though, and I was assigned to Monica. Should have stuck with Gino. At first meeting, Monica seemed like she knew what she was doing. She welcomed me warmly, offered a glass of whiskey and proceeded to go through all of the fabric choices, thread colors, tailoring details, buttons, etc. I pulled up the suit I had designed in their online "studio" so we could skip through some of the choices I had already made. Once everything was set, Monica took my measurements and entered them into an iPad. I paid for the suit in advance and was told that I would receive my garment within 4-6 weeks. About 4 weeks later, on 7/25, I emailed Monica to check on the suit. She said it was almost ready and would be shipped shortly. I had been having some doubts about the next step in their process-- where the suit is shipped directly to you and you have your tailor make any necessary adjustments. It seemed complicated and reduced KS's liability should the suit not come out perfectly. So, I asked Monica if I could fly up again for the second fitting. She said that would be no problem and told me that she would change the delivery location to their showroom. The suit was scheduled for delivery the week of 7/31, so I booked my trip for that Fri. The plan was to come in for the 2nd fitting on Fri and then return on Tue so their tailor would have time to make any alterations. Things headed downhill two days later, on the 27th, when Monica emailed me to ask if I could come a few days later than planned, as she wasn't sure when the suit would arrive. I told her that I had already booked my flight. She said she'd check with their "logistics team" to see if they could change the routing to the SF showroom. I thought that had been done two days prior. She responded on the 28th that it had shipped the day before and that the routing could not be changed. The suit would be delivered to my home and I would need to push back my flight to receive it and bring it with me to SF-- if that's what I still wanted to do. So apparently, the request she said she had made on the 25th never actually happened. I emailed Monica & Gino and told them that this was not acceptable. The suit wouldn't even arrive for a week. Surely there was some way to reroute it to their own showroom. I asked her to escalate my case and find a way to get the routing changed. I also asked her to provide tracking info. It took a day, but she provided a UPS tracking # that showed my suit being shipped from Qingdao, China to Devens, MA. I then did a little research of my own. Turns out Knot Standard is one of many online apparel retailers that uses a company in Devens called Quiet Logistics to process, package and ship their items. Apparently, KS's Chinese manufacturer only ships to QL and then QL ships to the customer. There was simply no way for Monica to have rerouted my shipment until it reached them. It would have been nice if she had been up front about this instead of telling me she would do something she couldn't do. Gino responded to my email that same day and we talked by phone. He seemed knowledgeable and genuinely interested in rectifying the situation. He said he had already put in a request to have QL expedite processing and to have it delivered overnight to the SF showroom. The following Monday, Monica informed me that the order had been expedited and that the suit would be in SF the following day. No need to change my travel plans. This was a relief and I assumed that my troubles were over. The following Friday, I returned to SF and saw my suit for the first time. It looked great, but seemed a little skinny in the middle. I tried it on and, sure enough, the jacket was a full 5-6 inches too tight in the midsection. I asked how this could have happened. Gino looked frustrated. After a brief conference with him, Monica told me that "someone" must have entered that measurement incorrectly. If you'll recall, dear reader, it was Monica who entered those measurements. Strike two, Monica. I asked if their tailor could work some magic. Monica said she would find out right away and give me a call. I didn't hear from her until late Sunday afternoon. She told me that there just wasn't enough material to let out the jacket enough. At this point, I feel another company would have pulled every possible string to have a replacement jacket made and shipped by my 8/28 wedding deadline. Instead, Monica told me there just wasn't enough time to make a replacement. With no other options, I requested (and received) a full refund. The off-the-rack suit I bought for the wedding looked OK. It certainly wasn't the suit I wanted, though. Guess it just wasn't meant to be. No more KS for me. read more

We really enjoyed our experience choosing my wedding suit and working with Monica. It's clear how much care Monica puts into getting the details right, I ended up making four trips in total (design and order, first alteration, final alterations, and pick up). The first set of alteration was to fit the vest better across my chest and stomach and open jacket up a bit more. When I came back the suit was ready to take home as it was, but Monica convinced me that the sleeves and pants would be even cleaner with a bit of taper and she was totally right when it came out. The suit also had some unique touches to make it stand out as a custom that made it extra special for my wedding. I really recommend coming here if you have the time for the process. They have an incredibly extensive catalog of the world's finest fabrics. So, skip the department store drag, schedule an appointment with with a KS stylist and step your game up! I'm 6'7", shopping for clothes has always been a burden. My closet was an utter disappointment and I had given up on clothes and fashion. It was a shame. Now, after working with Jocelyn at KS, I am excited to dig into my closet and pick out an outfit to wear. They make me feel great, and I honestly look so freaking sharp! Seriously, what's better than a custom fit? I always work with Jocelyn. She's a dynamite personality and has a keen eye for design. From start to finish, she provides a first class experience. Helping with insider tips on what works and doesn't. The more I work with her, the more I sit back and let her take the reigns and take me to the promise land. It's a collective creative process and I really enjoy the care that goes into designing each piece. Jocelyn was even able to do the entire groomsmen party for my friend's wedding.
