I waited 7 years to write this review. I genuinely wanted to love my suits. I had saved up for over a year to buy a couple of suits made with Italian fabric from the same town that my grandparents were from. The gentlemen who helped me was very nice but clearly new. The more experienced salesmen just sat at his desk and did nothing. Perhaps he should have helped the new guy out, but instead he was busy on his phone. I made it clear from the very beginning that suit jackets always fit me strangely, and that I wanted a jacket that finally fit me well. The employee told me they could absolutely do that. I should have known something was off because when I came in to try the new suits, the experienced employee told the newer employee to put a bigger jacket on. It fit better than the one I was buying, and the more experienced employee knew the new guy had made a mistake. Did he offer to make it right? Nope. I bought two suits. Both suit jackets fit me strangely just like everything off the rack. I was told that the fabric would "relax" once I wore the suits a few times. Well, I have now used the suit quite a bit over the past 7 years, and the fabric has never "relaxed". I saved up for over a year for a jacket that fits me as well as one off the rack at a Macy's. Further, the seem on one of the pants is coming undone. If you want a custom suit, go elsewhere. read more

I scheduled an appointment, and somehow I booked at the wrong location. This meant that there was a double booking. I felt terrible and apologized, but Juliano's reaction was condescending, passive-aggressive, rude, and disrespectful. He was agitated, and it was evident that he was only interested in making a commission. He told me that he had been waiting around (3 hours before my appointment time) for me to arrive as if it was my fault. This experience almost wholly turned me away from doing business with Beckett & Robb. I emailed my complaint to Shop@beckettrobb.com on 11/23/21, and a simple apology would have solved the issue, but I never heard back. I would recommend Becket & Robb to train their employees to be respectful to their customers and provide good customer service. read more

I came here to get my first made-to-measure suit and have been really happy with the experience. Juliano in particular has been incredibly helpful. They have a ton of different cloths and customization options and Juliano thoroughly explained everything, giving solid advice when I asked for it but ultimately letting me build my own suit. It was a fun experience and I'm really happy with the final product. The only issue during the entire process was an unexpected delay of a few weeks during production. I also appreciate how helpful Juliano's been even after the suit was finished. I've come in a couple times for complimentary pressings and he's answered my random questions about how to care for it, good places to look for shoes, etc. read more

Jared has been incredible to work with, is very knowledgeable about proper fit, fabric, style, and what needs to be done to make the full outfit really look incredible. I only had an initial measurement + initial fitting to completely nail the fit. I also find that the suits, which I have had for years, hold their shape and withstand the test of time very well. Being made-to-measure suits, you may need to have adjustments made if your body changes. You don't want the suit to become embarrassingly snug or too baggy. Please be aware: Beckett and Robb does NOT work with women. I'm a queer woman with a very masculine aesthetic who wanted to purchase a custom suit for my wedding. I scheduled an appointment online, and received a call from a dude a few days prior stating: "Well, uh, this should be...interesting. We're usually a man's type of shop. But, um, we can probably work around certain body abnormalities that I don't have myself." Really? ABNORMALITIES?!! Are you talking about boobs? Hips? Is the type of body carried around by 51% of the population really "abnormal"? Surely they've never had to tailor around some lazy dude's beer gut, or a gym rat with huge biceps and chicken legs. Rude treatment aside, I'm not about to drop thousands on a suit from a tailor who can't account for a few bumps. Needless to say, I cancelled my appointment on the spot. It would've been nicer to just hear "we don't usually work with women" - but I'm sure that's illegal, so instead they scared me off by acting as repulsive as possible. NEWS FLASH: Women wear suits. Being located in the SF Financial District, I would imagine the bros at Beckett and Robb actually see women walking by every day wearing suits. Well I decided it was time to buy my first serious suit. I had worked with Indochino before, but at the end of the day I wanted something actually fit to my body. After being recommend Beckett & Robb I gave them a try and I am grateful I did. Despite my being far from an expert, Julian walked me through the whole process and made everything easy and delightful. It was a great balance between giving me options and helpful opinions to keep me from drowning in choices while at the same time making sure I got the suit that was right for me. I never felt upsold or hustled and the price was right for a beautiful end product They measured and altered and measured and altered again to make sure that the suit fit to me, no matter the curve of my spine or shoulders. Read First before going... I am a ny'er who wears custom suits regularly. I left NYC to live in sf for a bit and was in need of a new custom suit maker. I tried B&R and was extremely disappointed. First, I had to go in for 3-4 fittings. Whatever they tell you, this is NOT ok. A good suit maker or tailor only needs 2 times to get it right. The people who measure are not the tailors and something always keeps getting lost in translation. Frankly, I don't think they know what they are doing, they dress well and understand style but they have zero clue how to measure or tailor a suit. Second, the price - this place is way above average for the suit that it is and the quality they supposedly are. A two piece suit with 120s or 130s at a reputable place can be made from $750-$1100 depending on fabric and quality - my suit cost close to $1600. This is a rip off when you consider how poorly these suits are made Second, the quality - these suits are extremely poorly made - they are glued in places that should be sewed, they don't have layers in places that it should and the overall fit of the suit and the place where it buttons is just weird. I have owned this suit for 1 year. I have worn it about 7 times - taking it to celebrity dry cleaner every 2nd use. The zipper on the pants fell apart and would not stay up and the "sewing" or shall I say glue in the back of the jacket by seems has come off. Furthermore, the pants have come apart by the knee from sitting like a normal person. For a $1600 suit this is not ok. I did not want to leave a negative review when I first got my suit nor was I going to leave a good one bc I wasn't that happy with the end result. After my experience 1 year out, I had to leave a review, especially after this suit embarrassed me in front of a client. I believe there are much better tailors and suit makers in SF than this expensive and poor quality establishment that pawns itself as bespoke. Update*** After reading the response from manager, he only furthers my point of the suits being of inferior quality - I own nearly 25 suits from many different brands, most are high end or custom and some are everyday suits from other more common brands like Hilfiger or boss. I dry clean my suits all the Time from very reputable dry cleaners. This is the very first time I have ever had any of the issues that I have stated above. In addition, the suit was only worn a handful of times and not dry cleaned anywhere near as much as any of my other suits. Again the issue that I have and only shows further just how inferior the quality of these suits are and their respective tailoring. For how many times I wore them and dry cleaned, I should NOT have the above issues. Just because a suit looks good, doesn't mean it's of good quality. When I left the shop, it looked good. That doesn't mean I approved of it's quality. Also, it took so long to get it right, that I was well worn out from from the arduous process, at a certain point just took what was given to me. I guess that is on me and my mistake. Never again. Lesson learned. Plain and simple, for what this place charges for a custom suit, they are of inferior quality by a margin of half. Meaning, if they charged half of what they charge, I would be ok with what I received. read more

First the service is great. Derek helped me out immensely and this was my first time getting bespoke clothing. It can be daunting, it can be expensive and sometimes I did wonder why I didn't just go to Nordstrom's. All that disappears the minute your order comes in and that final fitting happens. I don't think they'll let you make a mistake but it's money well spend. Got a pair of suits and shirts and couldn't be happier. When using yelp price and value comes into mind and when you pay a premium, receive a premium service and product with honestly and even accurate timelines, you get 5 stars. Final fitting required no alterations and was as high quality as I could have hoped for. Great job all around B&R looking forward to visiting again. I bought my first suit with Beckett & Robb. I went into it not knowing much about suits so I was looking for someone to guide me through the process a little bit. Juliano was extremely helpful. The fitting lasted over an hour and he earned my trust really quickly. Throughout the process, he helped me understand all the nuances that comes with a well fitted suit including what fabrics to use and color for different occasions, and also details like buttons, inner lining, lapel style, etc. -- things I had never thought about. This business has really figured out how to make a top-quality custom suit that fits perfectly (they take a million measurements, including things like the slope of your chest, whatever that means!) while keeping prices reasonable. Alan and Jared are fantastic. Jared was the one who helped with my suit, but Alan was super friendly as well. This was my first time buying a tailored suit, and they gave fantastic advice and suggestions throughout the process. I had a general idea of what I wanted, and they helped with all the details and it turned out amazing. The suit fits better than a glove, and it looks beautiful. The only issue was the suit took longer than expected (just beyond 8 weeks), but that has more to do with their oversea's tailor/shipping than the actual store itself. I just bought my first suit from B&R. I was helped by Alan, who does his best to work with you. Overall I was impressed with the process, but a little disappointed by the amount of time you spend waiting. My suit took almost 8 weeks, which is in their time-frame, but still a long time to wait. In the end the suit arrived. They had to make some alterations to the jacket since I recently lost about 15 pounds, but after two days it was done and fits perfect! Would I do it again? Absolutely. Bought two suits here and not entirely satisfied. In the The first suit I asked for extra margin in size but it still came back very tight. I probably should have refused delivery but decided to accept with some tailoring. The suit no longer fits me after just one year which is a shame. Second suit I bought was nice clothe but again poorly fitted. The trousers came back way too short and had to be rolled down and the left / right sleeve sap had significantly different lengths. The second suit ultimately came out OK (4/5 stars) whereas the first was complete waste (1/5 stars). In my opinion, the whole point of made to measure is to have it fit better than off the rack.. read more

They seem to have quality control issues. When I picked up my suit I noticed the pocket was the wrong style. Furthermore, today I realized that the suit is made from the wrong cloth: I ordered twill cloth and it is actually made from plainweave, which does not look as nice. For the pocket they offered to remake the jacket, or give me a discount or a free tailored shirt. I am waiting to hear back about the cloth but hopefully they will offer to remake it. If you're considering going here, it is a good way to get a well-fitted suit more cheaply than bespoke, but it is definitely not a bespoke process. There are several elements to the suit that can not be customized. A true bespoke tailor (check out Seymour's Fashions in San Francisco), on the other hand, can make any customization that you want. read more

However, my order, consisting of suits, a custom shirt, sweater, and miscellaneous elements is now more than a month overdue beyond the promised date. Communications has been poor, requiring me to call and follow-up. Even a month beyond the promised date, they aren't able to estimate a delivery date. Update (27 days after first review): I've reduced my review to one star. Apparently a subset of the clothes arrived. I asked them, and they agreed, to simply ship them to me. However, they haven't shipped them or responded to messages. I'm considering now whether or not to dispute what is a $5000+ charge with the credit card company. read more

The in-store experience was fine, but after painstakingly choosing the right shirt details, my order was late, then "sent to the wrong location". I asked the manager to overnight it to me as i was travelling and needed the shirt soon. It didn't arrive until several days later and had none of the finishes. I walked in for a fitting and left feeling like I had taken a 1-on-1 class in styling and fine men suits. Working with C-Arie is truly a pleasure. He helped me narrow in on and articulate my vision for 2 winter wedding looks, complete with styling tips and recommendations. He enthusiastically walked me through each step of the process from selecting cloths, colors, patterns, and textures. The fitting is a bit misleading because it's really a wraparound styling service that C-Arie provides. He even offered to meet me after the fitting to return a personal belonging I left behind at the store. I'd definitely recommend B&R to others. I had seen the shop previously while purchasing a pair of shoes nearby. I did a little research and decided to make an appointment. I showed up for my consultation and was greeted by Jared. At this point I have to say that Jared is what made this such an enjoyable experience. He walked me through the whole process and explained everything to me while giving me great style pointers and advice. On top of the expertise, Jared is relatable and easy to share your ideas with. Amazing experience with Juliano at Beckett and Rob. I came in here with the mindset that I was going to get a personalized experience with a welcoming ambiance. Juliano had helped a friend of mine with his wedding suit and raved about his friend Juliano who helped him. Little did I know that I was going to purchase my suit the first day I walked it but I never looked back on my decision because Juliano + Beckett and Robs collection of material and customization options made it worth it. They walk you through different material to make sure you get a feel and look for the suit your going to create. Explain your vision and they will bridge the gap for you. Great tips on what lapel size, type of jacket, button color scheme, stitching, interior color of the jacket and other little details I can't remember. I really trusted Juliano and allowed him to throw in his recommendations. It's sort of like a tattoo artist who has creativity; just let them create. Suit came in perfect to size. Minor modifications on pant length and will test it out 2 months before the wedding just in case my body shape changes. Overall, amazing experience and awesome service with a personal touch. My experience with Beckett & Robb was excellent. In particular Alan, who seems to mostly work Saturdays (?), is a consummate professional. He is extremely knowledgeable about fabrics, cuts, etc, but also skillful in the way he measures and adjusts suits for fitting. My suit fits amazingly well and I am going to enjoy it for a long time. This is in sharp contrast to my experience at indochino (which you can read about in my other review). Everything on the weekend is by appointment so they really provide you their full attention and are quite meticulous. I recommend this place highly! A few tips for shoppers: I was shopping for a wedding suit. The custom suit does take some time, for me that was about 1.5 months including the Christmas holidays right in the middle of that. My pants had to be slightly adjusted which took 1 extra week (but was not an extra charge). And the price was totally reasonable and within budget. My husband wanted a made to measure suit for our daughter's wedding. After much research, he contacted Derek at B&R and spoke over the phone on style, cut, color, etc. Showed up for appt and was impressed with their knowledge and friendliness. They guided him through the process and style decisions (who knew there were so many options!) and with their knowledge he was able to get exactly what he envisioned at a reasonable price, done on time! I've now bought two suits and four shirts from Beckett & Robb. I'm very happy with the fabric selections, tailoring and advice. I've worked closely with Alan, the store manager, who was extremely helpful in making my choices. They have a wide range of fabric choices, and the prices are only a bit above what you'd pay at Nordstrom or Bloomingdales. And here, you get a suit that fits you perfectly with all of the fun details (canvassing, lining color, button style, stitching, etc.) that make buying a custom suit a much more pleasurable experience than buying an off-the-peg suit elsewhere. As for customer service, there's really no one better. They listen to any concerns and react promptly to ensure that the customer is fully satisfied. Really poor customer service & planning. They had me go all the way for a fitting on a Saturday morning while neglecting to let me know that their factory was closed all month.
