I love pastries and this place did not disappoint. This was my first time trying a Kouign-amann and it was one of the best pastries I've ever had. It was crispy and decadent with a delicious caramelized bottom. The banana bread was perfect as well. It was dense but still felt moist and soft. Had the perfect flavor of banana! I always get the pain au chocolat because I'm trying to find the best one and this one definitely can compete. Flaky and crispy but buttery and soft on the inside. The breakfast sandwiches were also good and gave you a nice salty taste compared to the sweet pastries! Definitely would go back and try more pastries! read more

This was our second time coming here. We live in CA and I like to try different bakeries in different places. First time it was late in the day so we didn't have too many options but this time, I think we tried most of the favorite ones and I can see why they are favorite. They are friendly, nice and helpful. They let you take your time because there are so many options to choose. They also warm your treat, if you like. We have bought Almond croissant, koign amman, hazelnut croissant, pistachio doughnut- some of the name I don't remember,sorry- and many others, they were all delicious. Decided to try this place for breakfast and wowee! Just looking at the menu inclined us to come but once their, looking at it made our decision on what we ordered extremely difficult. I ordered the chicken salad on a croissant, triple baked almond croissant, passion fruit donut and a refreshing juice. My cousin ordered a breakfast croissant and a chocolate kouign amman. Everything was amazing, fresh, generous, and delicious. I saved half my sandwich for lunch and am still having a pastry for dessert after dinner. Came here on a Thursday morning and there was no line. I had this place bookmarked on yelp prior to coming to St. George, but didn't plan on stopping here until we saw a billboard on the side of the freeway which named it the best bakery... not sure if it said it was the best bakery in St. George or all of Utah but it could be both. We ordered 5 different things: filled donut, choc chip cookie, kouign amaan (I had to google, it's pronounced queen ahman) a chocolate KA, and something savory- a quiche. I've never liked quiche and I def loved the quiche here. We pretty much devoured all items presented to us in their outdoor patio. They have so many items to choose from that look delicious. Absolutely incredible pastries. I was blown away with the freshness of the Georges croissant sandwich. The eggs were so full of flavor and warmth. The cheese melted over the ham and bacon. We shared everything today and this one I wanted more of. We tried the croissant with strawberry jam and powdered sugar next. It was flaky and sweet. Again so fresh. You know you can tell a fresh croissant when u take a bite and these guys aren't messing around. The raspberry roll appeared like a cinnamon roll except with raspberries. So moist and flaky. The sugar on it was like rock sugar, adding to the crunch. Almond chocolate - sorry forgot the name. I inhaled this one. I wish I got more. Finally there was this unique pastry made with croissant dough but caramelized on the bottom. We got it with chocolate on top and the flavor of this chocolate was not your standard chocolate for the other dishes. It had an impressive flavor. This place totally delivers. It was quite big and I wasn't super hungry so I wasn't able to get through it so thats a plus. Hydrate - this was a little hard to get down, but I don't thing they were optimizing for taste. Wow! I was so impressed with Farmstead. The building is nice and clean. I loved the cafe vibe and the modern decor. They have baked goods, breakfast and lunch sandwiches, and coffee. They had so many goodies it was hard to decide what we wanted! We came around 9:45am and the place was packed. Many were eating at the tables but there was also a decent line which moved fast. The employee was very helpful! We ordered two of the George breakfast sandwiches which they heat up. The sandwich consists of a homemade croissant, cheese, ham, bacon, eggs, and cheese on top of the croissant. They toast it and heat it up for you. It was delicious. The croissant was one of the best I've ever had. It was so soft on the inside. All of the flavors worked so well together. It was an amazing breakfast sandwich. We also got two chocolate sprinkled donuts. They were cake donuts. The donut itself was amazing. It was hard on the outside but so soft on the inside. It was an amazing texture and might be one of the best cake donuts I've had. The chocolate needed more... it was almost like a glaze and not the best but the donut itself made up for the lack of flavor. This place is a gem. We cannot wait to come back! read more

I have been STRUGGLING with what to review this place. To start, all the pastries are EXCELLENT. Just take your pick and you're gonna love at least something if not everything you try. I never even looked at the prices honestly, I saw all the baked goods behind the glass and just ordered away all my problems. For a full box of goods it came to about $25, not bad at all. My personal favorite was the Raspberry Croissant, so perfectly balanced, not too much raspberry or too little. Unlike the Key Lime Pie Donut, which, personally had too much lime filling for my liking, and was too tart, but, that might be your thing. (The Swiss merengue on top however was top notch) The Kouign Amann also was all I hoped it would be! Now after all that you might be wondering why I'm struggling with a rating...? I want to give them the benefit of the doubt, but in an area that is very obviously and predominantly one race, traveling with a mixed group of people brought on some looks, finger pointing and whispers. At least two of the girls there were talking about one of the teenagers traveling with us, whispering and pointing directly at them, in front of my face. What two grown people have to say behind their hands about two well behaved teenagers is beyond me. Unfortunately I can't help but think it's a race thing... hopefully not. Again, I want to give them the benefit of the doubt, but my gut is telling me otherwise. So, I'm willing to go back if I'm ever in the area again, because they got the good stuff when it comes to the baked goods!
