I had this place for the first time today and am quite confident I will not be back. I ordered it to go at lunch time as it seems to be a popular lunch spot. I had to call in the order as there is no online option. Though, it was rather straightforward. The first thing I tried was the soup. I was told that it was in a big container but still the same amount. Though, you can see by the line that it wasn't the case. It was also clearly separated and I took the pic after much stirring. It was unlike any Tom kha gai I've ever had. It was one note and filled with rice noodles and even cucumber. I couldn't eat it. Next up was the spicy tuna. It was a terrible texture so no amount of soy or wasabi could save it. Lastly was supposed to be tofu pad Thai but it was full of the strangest veggies for a pad Thai: broccoli, celery, and tons of cabbage. The taste was very sweet and did not hit on any of the other notes of pad thai: sour, spicy, or salty. Was ketchup used? I hated it and the mushy rice noodle texture. I was extremely disappointed as I couldn't eat anything that I spent $30 on.

    This was AMAZING !

Was in the area and googled the location. I received a very warm welcome upon coming in the door. I ordered a spring roll appetizer that was amazing. The dip that came with the spring rolls was awesome. My meal came and it was very appealing in sight. I ordered a dish that had a slight kick to it. When I say that it was good.. .it was good. The vegetables were cooked perfect. Even the rice was hot and tasty. I am not much into carrots but they were good also. And to complete my meal I ordered a sushi roll that was recommended by a staff member. The Dynamite sushi roll is definitely something I will order again. This place is a hidden jewel. If you are in the Kannapolis area come check Bonsai Kitchen out. You will not be disappointed!

The bar area and side bar seating looks like it will be reopened soon after being shut down in 2020. But the food has stayed as good as from previous owners. We place large orders every time we go, always tipping well, as the wait staff were fantastic. Tonight I called and ordered like I always do, and my sister went and picked it up. I noticed the bags and containers were different, portions were much smaller, and most upsetting, the Pink Lady roll I always get had spicy tuna mash in the middle instead of the normal whole salmon (which has always been my absolute favorite). I tasted it, realized what it was, and was disgusted. To me, spicy tuna is inedible, so I took it back to be remade, thinking that it was a simple mistake. Upon arriving, there is a new girl at the counter, and I inform her my roll was made incorrectly. She looked at it and said, "No, that's a Pink Lady." Since I had never seen her before, I assumed she was new and didn't know what she was talking about, so I told her I've been coming here for over 10 years, this isn't a Pink Lady. She then informs me that the menu has changed due to a change in ownership from the old owners to their son. So I glance at the new menu and I'm like oooookkk, so the Pink Lady is different now. Can I have the rolls remade the way I would like them please? She walks back to talk to who, I assume, is the owner, and she comes back saying that they will remake them the old way. So I'm like ok, thank you, just for my clarification, when I call in the future, how do I order to get my favorite roll, as I do not like spicy tuna. She goes back to talk to who I assume is the owner, taking a long time, before returning and saying, "This is how the menu is now, there is no way to make the modifications you want as we do not want to confuse the new sushi chef, he has only been trained on the new menu and there is simply no way to make any modifications." It was in that moment I knew I wouldn't be returning to my favorite restaurant. The interaction was very rude and dismissive and I was not informed of the change of ownership or menu changes when I called to place the order either. I don't know if it's lesser quality ingredients, inexperienced staff, cutting corners, or just the general way customers are treated during this change, but me and many more people I know will not be returning, and I've seen other people reviewing similar unsatisfied experiences. I miss it the way it was, and it's crushing to know it will never be the same. If I were the old owners who had built this into the thriving family business it has always been, I would be disappointed at the current reviews.

Sadly, there is just not much as far as decent selection within at least 30+ minutes driving in the area. However, Chef Thai is exactly what I expect and want from a wonderful Thai restaurant; slightly tacky decorations, nothing fancy, and wonderful smelling aromas coming from the kitchen! As of now June 2022, they are ONLY DOING TAKE OUT. So if you want to eat there, please call to see if they are open. They do take orders for takeout by phone as well. The staff I have dealt with are always very pleasant and they are extremely fast for the quality of food. My first time in I was delighted to see they had my favorite Thai specialty on the menu, Pad Prik Khing, and it may be the best rendition of it I have had anywhere! As with most places they offer their entree in a range of spice, I typically get "hot" and it is not as hot a a lot of other places, so if you want really hot, go for "Thai hot". Chef Thai is definitely a great place and I hope they continue to do well as they are definitely one of the best quality restaurants in the surrounding area, even though they may not be very well known.

We prefer eating early, so it's great to be able to avoid the dinner crowds and sip a martini when having our meal. Their food is fantastic, and we've tried so many things! If we get appetizers, we usually rotate between their spicy togarashi shrimp, tuna & avocado-tini, crispy rice with tuna, Korean spring rolls, or pork potstickers. Their miso soup is good, too. For our entrees, my husband loves their bento boxes, seafood fried rice, kung pao, and pad thai. I love their build-your-own poke bowls, smaller sushi rolls (like the spicy tuna, Philly roll, and smoked salmon roll), and their speciality rolls, like the Miss Moffitt's, blackened tuna, and scorching sun. You can also still get old favorites that are no longer on the menu, like my absolute favorite, the Impersonator. But the best thing is that you can order a 1/2 roll, or try two 1/2 rolls from either the regular or specialty sushi menu. I don't have a huge appetite, so the 1/2 roll option is a game-changer for me! The cost is slightly more than half, but it's absolutely worth it! One of the best things that brings us back to Eez as often as we do is the service. We have some favorite servers who know us and treat us so wonderfully, like Allie and Matt. But honestly, everyone who has served us has been great. We can't wait to return!

We were one of about 7 to 8 tables present in a restaurant, with only one server working. Even then, we were promptly serviced, and didn't have to wait a long time at all for our food Altogether, we ended up ordering one order of shrimp egg rolls, one order of veggie egg rolls, one order of shrimp summer rolls, two beef and meatball pho, one combination pho, and one chicken pho. Everything was brought out piping hot, and of course, the pho herbs, condiments, and veggies were super fresh and served in abundance The eggrolls all came out hot and fresh. The wrappers were perfectly crispy on the outside, and the filling was fresh on the inside. I did not taste the summer rolls, but everyone said they were excellent. I personally had the combination pho and wish it had a little bit more meat. I would say the amount was less than at other Vietnamese restaurants, but overall it was still really delicious and filling. The noodles were perfectly cooked, and the broth was perfectly seasoned. The total for the table was only $75, which I felt was reasonable for four people and the amount of food we received. Overall, a solid Vietnamese restaurant in Winston. I look forward to returning in the future.

I really wish Winston Salem had a great Banh Mi available. There are some good Pho restaurants but…read morethey don't serve Banh Mi usually and when they do it's not quite the authentic version I'm looking for. I had the Banh Mi at What Da Pho in the past and remember it was good so that's what I ordered this time. Additionally we ordered crab wontons and summer rolls. The restaurant is a little hidden but if you park in the parking structure adjacent to the restaurant it's super easy to get inside. First impressions are it's quiet- no music in the dining room, and the decor is sort of an afterthought with scotch tape holding LED lights to the walls and some Asian inspired pictures but not very well thought out. It's Ok, I'm not coming for the decor. The service is a little lacking. They are giving the bare minimum here so don't expect your server to be too friendly. The crab wontons and summer rolls arrived quickly. The crab wontons were super hot and crispy right from the deep fryer. They were filled with a delicious imitation crab and cream cheese mixture and when dipped in the sweet chili sauce they were exactly the thing I was craving. The summer rolls were equally as fresh and delicious. The filling of cold rice noodles, crisp lettuce and shrimp then dipped in the accompanying peanut sauce was just as delicious. We ordered one pork and one beef Banh Mi. The first thing I noticed was how plentiful the meat was in each one. Usually it's a light sandwich but these were very hefty in comparison to others I've had. My meat was very savory and had a very tender texture, almost like pot roast. It was also the juiciest pork I've ever had in a Banh mi. The picked vegetables were also really good but both our sandwiches were missing the jalapeno I've come to expect. My husband really enjoyed his beef one as well but we both noticed how the bread lacked that crusty flaky quality that Vietnamese baguettes normally have. This was more of a sub roll with a chewy texture and softer crust. The flavors were great, I just missed the textures I have come to expect in an authentic Banh mi. Our spot in Greensboro will still be my favorite but when I don't want to trek out that far, I can get my fix at What Da Pho.
