My family had dinner here while in Concord N.C. A nice restaurant featuring typical Hibachi entree menu items ( steak, chicken, shrimp, scallops, and vegetables) which came with a choice of 2 sides. Soups, salads, appetizers, a kids menu as well as sushi and Chefs specials such as fish or chicken katsu were also menu items. Our waiter was accomadating, the food was plentiful and delicious and prices reasonable. We ordered clear soup, hibachi meals which all came with broccoli and mushroom . Also ordered some sushi. Food came out hot and plated nicely. Some thought their chicken was a bit dry. Overall an enjoyable, tasty meal in a comfortable atmosphere. read more

It has been a while since I reviewed Hokkaido so I wanted to give a more current review. Unfortunately the quality has gone down somewhat. Where Hokkaido used to stick out due to their quality, portions, and price now they are average in all categories listed above...this doesn't mean I wouldn't recommend their product; but now they fall into the same category as every other quick service Japanese restaurant in the area. Staff is always very friendly and with the small team they do produce dishes very quickly. Restaurant is clean and always very quiet due to most folks getting to go orders as opposed to dining in. Their website is a bit difficult to navigate; finding the menu can be tricky...I have been going to Hokkaido since they were in the old location across from the Carolina Mall and writing this review kinda bums me out....Hopefully they can get back to their original business model-offer the higher quality ingredients (cheaper doesn't always mean more profit), clean up the website, and market the brand (it can be hard to find or know it exists due to the tucked away location). read more

They went to take out only for a long time, the price has gone up a lot since then and now they take an automatic 20% if you eat there. I don't know that I am opposed to "mandatory tipping" as I normally tip 20% anyhow, but when mandatory it seems like you might not get that solid top notch service. That said, I just asked for mine to go when I saw this 20% charge. I got the hibachi chicken. I think it used to come with noodles and rice? It also used come out to like $8.50 after tax and I think this last time it was over $11. 20+% rise in base costs and another 20% on top of that? I get it, inflation sucks, food prices have risen, but this place isn't top notch and it's no longer "cheap for what it is". Chicken was a little dry, carrots were cheap, rice was ok and shrimp sauce was the runniest I have ever had. I'll probably be back, other Japanese and Chinese places around town are pretty bad. But it's going to be hard for me not to go to that new International Deli a few doors down if I'm coming to this shopping center anyhow. read more

Love this place! Food and service is amazing! My family has literally tried everything on the menu and it's always fresh and delicious. I mean ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! My favorite is the Godzilla on Fire roll and I love their Shrimp Lo-Mien they put in nice size shrimp and they don't skimp on the amount either! My grandkids gobble it all up every time we order it! ( We usually have to order two because it's so good!) the ambiance is just a quaint quiet clean place. They have a closed off section I believe is for private parties. I've been looking for a spot for some Japanese takeout near me, and I found Hokkaido. I ordered vegetable hibachi and a spider roll online through their website. The website was easy to use. It was towards the end of their operating hours and apparently they were busy, so the website stated the food would be ready in 30-40 minutes. I arrived about 25 minutes after I placed my order and my food was ready. The vegetable hibachi portion seemed kind of small, especially considering I have gotten larger portions of vegetable hibachi from competitors for considerably less (see: Toyama Express). It could have been that way because they were getting ready to close. Despite the portion size, the food was tasty. The spring roll that came on the side had a super satisfying crunch when I bit into it. The spider roll was really solid. I will come back here again and try other things. read more

I have ate here multiple times in the past but this is one of the first times I have ordered take out. I ordered the hibachi chicken and steak. It was all hot and fresh when I received it but the chicken and steak seemed a bit bland to me. I often get the ramen when I go here and I am typically really satisfied but with this plate I enjoyed the spring rolls more than the main course unfortunately. This place has been pick up only since the pandemic. They just reopened their dining room. Now they charge a mandatory 20% tip in you dine there. Their food is ok. But, if I do return, I will be getting my food to go. I have no issue with tipping if service is good. But forcing someone to pay 20% is not going to happen for me. read more

I ordered my meal from Ubereats and decided to give this place a try. This spot has gotten great reviews for sushi, so why the heck not? I ordered 6 cheese rangoons, chicken teriyaki with noodles and a spring roll. The portion sizes were on the smaller end for dinner, but I guess you get what you pay for. This was my first time trying Hokkaido and I was very impressed! Their sushi is delicious and their customer service was very warm and inviting. I had yellowtail nigiri and a sunshine roll with their house sake. The sushi exceeded my expectations! I see a lot of people complaining about portion sizes but people forget that American/ Western food is served in super sized portions which, is very uncommon throughout all of Asian countries. I also see a lot of people complaining about their mandatory 20% tip which, to this I say that if you cannot afford to tip that you should not be eating out. Tip culture is uncommon in most countries because servers are paid a decent wage but here in the United States servers are paid horribly and make most of their living off of tips therefore, order takeout if you're mad about it. We also had the steak and shrimp hibachi, which was also great!!!!! Nikki was our server and she was fast and friendly. I just recently discovered this place near my home and finally was able to check it out. After shopping all day, I stopped by to treat myself to lunch. I ordered the chicken ramen and it was delicious! I do wish they had some sweet chili oil but the sriracha did it's job. I also ordered the Godzilla Fire Roll and enjoyed it as well. The service could use some improvement but it was the holidays so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. They kinda rushed me out there but I figured it was because they wanted my table for the Sunday church group. It's a sit down restaurant but I noticed a lot of to go orders so I bet they're great for that too. The hibachi chicken looked amazing and that is definitely what I'm ordering next time. I was really surprised how good the food was. I ordered the chicken and shrimp Teriyaki. The shrimp was very tender. My 1 complaint would be that some of the shrimp were'nt fully deveined. Other than that, the mushrooms that were in the were cooked perfectly. Overall it was very good. read more

I have never ate here and probably won't despite good reviews. I am a celiac and other food allergies. I have called them twice to ask which foods have gluten or wheat in them. They are completely clueless on what gluten and wheat are. Of course they said the cover your butt answer we can't guarantee anything is gluten free. This review is not so much about the food as it is about the owner (or at least I think he is the owner). My wife got a roll that was supposed to have shrimp in it and had crab instead. She asked about getting a credit for the roll. The owner started yelling at my wife that she was just trying to get something for free. She just asked for a credit for the wrong roll delivered. He kept yelling at her that she was lying and trying to get something for free. She told him to go to hell and left. The jerk is lucky that she didn't have a food allergy. Serving the wrong kind of meat or seafood can get you into a world of legal trouble these days. So, I don't care how good the sushi is at this location, their customer service is some of the worst I have ever encountered. Will NEVER be back and will encourage others to go elsewhere! Clean inside and food was good. Had Hibachi combo with chicken and shrimp, oldest son had Hibachi shrimp plate, and my 6 year old had had shrimp kids meal. Combos come with soup or salad and all meals pick 2 choice of carrots, spring roll, white rice, or fried rice. Also ordered appetizer of Crab Rangoon. Everything was good, decent price, and best crab rangoons. So I came back few weeks later and purchased a plate like my oldest son ordered but with chicken. I had no broccoli this time and the server tells me because plates don't come with broccoli it's an up charge. Well, my son's plate had broccoli on it our 1st visit that he end up giving to me. I didn't make a big deal about it though. After eating almost half of my plate I found a long black hair in my food. ((My hair is dyed red and cut short so I know it wasn't mine.)) The server did take care of situation and got a new meal made for me. I end up taken meal to go since I was on my lunch break . Both times that I took meal in to go box, by time I got back to eat it there is a lot of water sitting in food.
