I love BAM the affectionate nickname for Books A Million. Only come to the store here in Port Richey Florida. It's a great store and the clerks are very nice. One clerk in particular I called on the phone and her name is (McKenna) and I told her I wanted the old farmers almanac 2025 box calendar. When I got there, she had three different ones and I picked the one that I wanted. I posted a picture of it. The store is awesome and I always meet interesting people as I just did now, I met an artist that specializes in a number of things, but when I said cats, she gave me her card because she does portraits of pets. I am going to be doing business with her get yourself over the Books A Million, a.k.a. BAM and enjoy a cup of coffee and buy a book or read a book plenty of room to do that and meet interesting people. read more

Bookstores are great places for dates. My Beau and I had just come from where I used to live (I wanted to show him my roots) and we ended up here for a Cup of coffee from Joe Mugs and looking at books, both of us are voracious readers. We spent time perusing the stacks, where he found just what he was looking for and I rekindled my love for Mercedes Lackey and her fantasy series. I love the way a bookstore smells and BAM is no different. One thing that they have above the other retail sellers? They take used books, including school books. YES! They're a new and used seller, how's that? They also have a huge selection of comics and the like. read more

I absolutely adore this store! I always feel a craving to come here. It's the only place within 20 miles of me that sells manga, and its with amazing deals too! The customer service is over the top and the employees are beyond friendly. The card is also nice because of said discounts and free shipping online. They also sell more than just books! I always call this place books a 999,999... because the ONE book I want, they don't have. this has been a consistent experience over the years at just about any location I go to. upon comprehending that the book I'm looking for is not in stock I am always given the option to order the book from Books-A-Million. why would I have driven my car to a store to order something? I can do that at home and probably get a better deal even with shipping. I guess I'm just spoiled by book stores such as The Strand, Powell's City of Books, The Iliad, and even places like Book Off. those places are like the ultimate vacation. Once I go through the doors I never want to leave. I very much enjoy shopping the sale tables but, I've yet to find something that I need or simply just want to read. The real highlight in this store is the ginormous collection of magazines that line the entire back wall. I am guessing that receipts have proven profitable in selling various things in the store... I used to go to bookstores and they would be just lined with books whether they be hole-in-the-wall independent booksellers, textbook shoppes, or big box retailers. Now every store has the need to have a coffeeshop and a boutique to satiate teeny bopper, crazy cat lady reader types and the sci-fi/PC/hipster geek. Forgive me but, a bookstore to me is about making a purchase. The Lazyboy is at home, along with wireless internet, a freezer with Hawaiian coffee, a cupboard full of tea and a deluxe, 3 in 1, Krups espresso cappuccino coffee maker. In closing, I cam honestly state that after each visit I usually go home and order the book on-line from another source. read more

This used to be my favorite "new book" store, but now it just seems overpriced and they have dedicated at least 1/4 of the store to anime. I don't have anything against people who enjoy anime, but what about those of us that don't enjoy it, but still want a good book? The rest of the selections seem to have started diminishing. More than anything else though, the prices are outrageous. You can get a new hardcover book for less than $20! Paperbacks are around $15. They also took away you option to sit and read a book. That was my favorite part of going there as a kid. Now you can't sit down and relax which is strange to me. Maybe they took that away because people were taking advantage of it. Either way, BAM has changed quite a bit and I don't think it's worth going in there. Support a small business and go to a mom and pop used book store. They are more than willing to order new books for you, and they are still cheaper than BAM. read more

I was surprised to find this store--been a long time since I have come across one, and it reminded me of my college days. Visiting this store was cool. I just love books and book stores in general--especially if there is pretty paper, journals, and note cards. This BAM has all of the above, in addition to the cafe. The man at the register was very friendly and animated and the prices were very reasonable for what I purchased. I can't give a five star just because I didn't really roam into the actual books. I won't be back because I'm tired of them pushing those stupid cards (you don't "save" money if you have to keep coming back and spending if you normally would). I have seen what employees say on Glasssdoor about that card and how they will be cut loose if they don't sell the quota of them. Ridiculous for a company who wouldn't pay more than minimum wage nor hire me, a disabled vet, because I asked for accommodation of being able to sit occasionally. I was told no, and I'm pretty sure that is illegal. Two stars because the non-book stuff to buy is a creative selection. Bought a set of "mermaid" cosmetic brushes. read more

In a world taken over by Kindle, it is rare to find a BAM. Located right off of US 19 there is ample parking. The staff is very friendly, welcoming you as you walk in the door! Obviously there are hundreds of books everywhere. But! Did you know that BAM also sells vinyls? Or Crosley players? How about ukuleles? Yupp! It's your everyday one stop shop, haha. The reason for one less star is that their inventory doesn't seem to be in good alphabetical order.. I have a hard time location certain authors sometimes, only to find them out of order. read more

Big location! The staff was very friendly. The horror section was kind of a joke though. A ton of Stephen King with Dean Koontz peppered in there as well. THAT'S IT! Have a really good history section as well as a lot of cookbooks. I will be back for more. read more

I received a book for Christmas from the Port Richey, FL store that I can not use. I was told that I can not exchange the book without a gift receipt, which I don't have. There is a tag on the book (so they know the book came from their store) and I only want to exchange, not refund. This is a burdensome & totally unfair policy! NEVER shop at Books-a-million! The store itself is nice. Good selection and variety. However considering we're in a pandemic and just in general if we weren't, the ladies bathrooms were absolutely disgusting! Mold and dark rings in every single toilet stall, no toilet paper in a couple and very low in the others. Dirty, just all around unsanitary vibes. I would hope they get some staff to start keeping up with that, after they have a professional cleaning crew go in and get it up to par. read more

I called Books A Million to find out if they had a particular book in stock that I wanted to get for my daughter. A lady named Rachel answered the phone and was very knowledgeable and personable. She knew exactly which book I was looking for (a popular kids book), told me they had a special display to promote the new release and that they had a bunch of them in stock, and even suggested another book in the series that I didn't know about. When I went into the store to purchase, the books were easy to find, and the check out process was extremely pleasant. Unfortunately, I was in a bit of a rush, and didn't notice the name of the young man who rung up my purchase. Kudos to the staff at Books A Million in Port Richey! read more

A large, nice bookstore that is clean and has a coffee bar inside where you can relax with a drink while you look over a book or magazine. This is a typical BAM, still, nice but nothing above and beyond the norm. The employees are nice enough when you approach them but I've never had them go out of their way to be friendly. read more

this store has ridiculously overpriced things. I'm 10 years old and I got something that was a little toy called kitty in a pocket I just got 1 and they didn't have the price on it and my dad paid with a credit card.my sister got somethings to. So we paid for it and once we got In the car my dad looked at the receipt and it cost 6$ plus tax, witch was 42 cents. I saw that I could get 6 cats for 1$ and 96 cents at Walmart. read more
