Books-a-million certainly lives up to their name: I spent 3 weekends counting their inventory, and they had EXACTLY 1 million books! My only problem was when I tried to buy a book, they wouldn't let me leave without replacing the book I was buying with another to keep being the only store with such an even number. I called my cousin and she brought one of my WWII books to replace the copy of the joy luck club I had set my heart on ... would go back, but I'd bring my own books to exchange the next time read more

Great medium-sized bookstore that is less overwhelming than the big chain, but packed full of a lot of things- including Best Sellers, Manga, games, puzzles, Funko, a large children's section, & fairly impressive wall of magazines! Clean store w/ all of its contents in perfect condition. Pricing is fair, but can't yet speak to a purchase experience. They cater to a young crowd more heavily than the serious reader, but happy to have this retail option when so many in-person purchases are disappearing. read more

Established in 1917.

Our company was founded in 1917 based out of Birmingham, Alabama as Anderson News. Over the course of the past 100+ years we have grown into becoming the second largest Book Retailer in the United States of America. Our brand encompasses Books-A-Million, BAM!, Second and Charles, 2NC, Yogurt Mountain, Joe Muggs Coffee, and AWBC. We started as family owned and operated and continue to this day!

As the District Manager, I love being able to combine my passion for reading and getting lost in a world of mystery and adventure into my career as well! Books-A-Million is a great way to provide to our communities endless possibilities for your next great adventure! Every genre of reading, from Fiction to Non-Fiction, Manga, Teen Fiction, Children’s, and Faith is available with us plus so much more online! We also offer a wide variety of exciting gift merchandise that is ever changing with new trends arriving weekly. In my 10+ years with BAM! I started as a Part-Time Bookseller and it has been one of the greatest experiences to be apart of the company to be a resource for readers and avid collectors.
