Came here after seeing it on so many must try lists. My mission was to try my first espresso martini and it did not disappoint. I had to refrain from finishing it quickly it was so delicious and smooth. We came for drinks and ended up also getting a charcuterie board. The entire experience was tailored to great customer service with a high end feel. The board was beautifully laid out and had a variety of meats, cheese, jam, hummus and toasted bread. It fed three of us with some left over bites. The drinks are crafted by a bartender who clearly knows what they're doing. Perfect balance of alcohol and mixer in very cute glassware. The bar is intimate. When you walk in there is a crescent shaped booth to the right followed by the bar with stools. Then to the left are single booths lining the wall to the back of the bar. We sat in the crescent booth and had a great spot to people watch and enjoy the vibe of the bar. The room is red. The chairs are leather. And the music is jazzy with an old school Sinatra feel at times. Once the bar was full and the line was out the door the bartender came and slide a door open between the crescent booth and bar. The lighting is dark, getting seated is always awkward as no one greets you immediately and you just stand in the middle of the walkway amongst seated patrons. I don't usually give out 3 stars but I've been to this place two times now and although the actual setting is cool - dark, speak easy type - I found the service and food/drinks OK. The name itself is deceiving because it seems like it would be a strip club or something. It is a small, lounge-type space (long and rectangular) with some booths or bar seating. There two areas that could fit more than 4 people if needed. The colors are more retro and red/gold/black vibes. The music however is hard to describe. Older times - maybe 50s? Which as you can imagine doesn't give a very diverse type of genre/atmosphere. As for the service, the women (there weren't any men except the owner that I saw or met) unfortunately are not the friendliest. They don't really look at you and seem like you are bothering them vs being patrons. That really turns me off. It also seems like they cater to the "regulars" or maybe that's how I felt since they seemed to be more attentive elsewhere. This to me is very important and I felt that there were some unfair treatment going on. The food was OK- fried food - we had the burger with garlic Parmesan fries. We wanted medium but it came well-done. Too hungry to send back. The drinks were pretty good though and nice variety. All in all, I am not sure if I will come back or refer others to this place. We stopped by on a Wednesday night and it was lively without feeling crowded. The bar lighting was sultry and honestly gave off "red room" vibes, in a fun, mysterious way. Seating is limited, but the bar is fully stocked! We ordered the chicken caesar salad and the Lil Saigon Sliders. We waited quite a while to be seated and it appeared that there was only one server working. In general, service was a little slow. Everyone ordered drinks, I got the breakfast and Tiffany's. Even though it was near the end of the evening, Taylor greeted us with such a warm, cheerful attitude that you would have thought it was the start of her shift. She has a wonderful way of making you feel like a valued guest, even on your very first visit. We didn't order any food, but the drinks were well made, and the atmosphere was relaxed and inviting. Andrew also stopped by our table to check on us, and he was just as friendly and welcoming. The outside of the building definitely doesn't hint at what's inside. It's actually not bad ambiance wise. Pretty decent setup. That's where it ended for us. Maybe because we showed up soon after opening, but the service was atrociously slow. 30-35 minutes to get drinks for our group. Granted, there were 8 of us, but only two other tables in the building were filled. Food was even longer. We only had apps. While we there a couple actually sat at the table next to ours and waited probably 15 minutes with no service so they left. My suggestion is to read this review not necessarily as an implication of how poor this place is, or in isolation, but compare it to other reviews here then make your decision. First visit to the Boom Boom Room. This place is eclectic and retro, but in a good Sinatra kind of way. I really loved the speakeasy soundtrack they play. It is relaxing and mellow and brings you back to a different time. We were on display in our seat at the entrance so I was a little intimidated at first but I changed my perspective to have a good time regardless. The hostesses are gracious and are happy to provide suggestions. I shared some chicken Caesar salad with chicken which was very good. Instead we ended up with dessert, drinks, and lively conversation. He's from Vegas. Ended up in Tacoma because his buddy was opening this place, and he knows food and he knows Vegas. He was funny and entertaining. As we talked somehow the topic of chocolate came up. My wife said "now I want chocolate!" We hadn't even ordered dinner and Chef Vegas (I forgot his name too) say "hold on. I got you". He leaves and retuns with dessert. I delicious blonde brownie topped with ice cream and drizzled with caramel and chocolate. Eventually we decided on dinner. We ordered the fish and chips as it's easily shareable. Chef said I would like the tartar sauce he makes. I assured him I do not like tartar sauce anywhere. He proved me wrong. The fish was really good. Perfectly cooked to golden brown. Crispy on the outside but not overcooked. The fries were the kind that have the crunchy coating of some kind. Making them delicious. Another round of drink. Wife had the tiki blinders. Definitely a dessert drink meaning it's its own dessert in liquid form. Sweet but tasty. When we were finally ready for our check the bartender comes over. He asked if we were ready. This Boom Boom Room is actually as it says - pretty much one room (with one private add-on room on the side). It was much smaller in here than I anticipated, but it made it all the more cozy and cool feeling. There is a small bar on one side and some booths on another that make for a great date night spot or hang with friends. The red lighting helps set the cool, sexy mood too. The bartenders were so great and on top of it, they made sure I had great food and drinks (which I did!). The bartedner even made me his special Reeses-type espresso martini that I enjoyed as my "dessert", so even though it's not on the menu you might be able to ask for that! For dinner I got the Braised Pork Belly Banh Mi Sliders which were suuuuuper yummy. Just the right portion size for what I was looking for and not too much (3 decent sized sliders). Honestly... I'm not sure where to start here we had a reservation, ten of us together. They put us in the Sinatra Room which is *sweaty* hot. The waitress even mentioned it was hot in this room and when we commented on it she just said yeah it sucks. I have Celiac so this is not a dietary choice, it's a medical restriction. I asked about gluten free options and she said nothing is gluten free (even though the website says it gluten free options available). She then said the best option for me would be the mushrooms or the wings because they are lightly breaded and she is gluten free and does well with those. We paid for our drinks and left. Oooh! After going to the Boom Boom Room Steve and I left there wondering why we didn't come here earlier on when we first heard about it. We absolutely loved our experience here! We were puzzling over where we wanted to sit and were offered the Sinatra Room which was a room off from the main area of seating which we really liked! Atmospheric from head to toe we loved the look here. The food was excellent! We had a Hummus Plate and a Quesadilla. Ingredients tasted super fresh and it was very flavorful and vibrant just like the atmosphere! Since it is classified as a cocktail bar we of course had to try some of those. I got the Smoked Old Fashioned which was superb! Perfectly made and nice and strong cocktail! I have taken a fondness to this cocktail recently but interestingly enough it was a mocktail version and I was really wanting to try the alcoholic version and the version here did not disappoint in the slightest! I really enjoyed this place a lot and it brings me hope that Tacoma's bar scene is bringing in some uniqueness and novelty to dining and drinking experiences and hope only more concept type places (the bar is going off of mid-century cocktail culture... kind of a Rat Pack vibe too) like this open in town. What an incredible place! From the minute you walk throufh the door, the ambiance takes over and it is cool! The staff is friendly and welcoming. The surrroundsing are unique and visually stunning. I ordered a mocktail called the FALSE MANIFEST(NA spiced cane spirit & coffee originale, Tacoma's Manifesto Cold Brew) and it had great flavor to it-very smooth. I also tried the Wordsmjth (rum based drink) and really enjoyed it-the rum was perfectly balanced with the coconut and lime and not overpowering at all. We chose Boom Boom Room for a birthday celebration with a group of seven, and unfortunately, it turned into a really disappointing experience. Everything started off fine--they seated us in the back room, we got our drinks, and placed our food order. Shortly after, another group of five was seated next to us and also began being served. Then a larger group of ten arrived, apparently with reservations. At that point, staff came to both our table and the other group and asked if we would leave so they could accommodate the larger party. Being asked to leave after already being seated, served drinks, and ordering food is completely unacceptable. It shows a serious lack of organization and respect for customers. This was supposed to be a special birthday celebration, and instead it was cut short and left a bad impression on everyone involved. The way the situation was handled made it clear they struggle with managing reservations and prioritizing guests. We will not be returning. read more

The cocktails tasted great and the food was even better. My only complaint was that the drinks took a long time to make. What is up with the woman bartender with the arm tattoos? People have been complaining about her and NOTHING seems to happen. She is super RUDE! They would have received more stars but their lack of service can't be ignored. We just sat and sat until they decided to take our drink and food order. I went up to the bar to see if we had to order there and the woman bartender rudely said no. Right away we noticed they were serving every other table but ours. We kept getting skipped over. Finally the super rude female bartender came to our table for our drink order. I ordered one of their fancy $12 N/A cocktails and she started to snicker. After a while again someone finally took our feed order. He seemed to be the owner. Not only did it took forever for someone to take our food order but it took forever before our food came out. My wife had the chicken wing and mushrooms which she liked. I had the $20 birder and garlic parmesan fries which was mediocre. The $20 burger would had been a $6 burger everywhere else. We really wanted to like this place. We loved the 1960's Las Vegas casino vibe. However, being passed up for service really SUX! We definitely will not come here again. Nuff Said! read more
