Have I not posted a review? Oh my goodness. The staff here is so friendly and wonderful. They make delicious cocktails and the flatbread is out of this world. On my recent visit, I had the margherita flatbread and some sort of peanut butter and jelly drink. Wow! My only suggestion would be to have more vegetarian options. There are several Asian themed dishes and I would love to try one. read more

So went last night to meet up with a friend I haven't seen in a while. I love the vibe here. Always quiet and a little dark. It just feels cozy. The servers are always super friendly and pretty attentive. We just got drinks last night since it was late and it was happy hour. Beers I feel like are a decent value but I got the old fashion that was on happy hour since that is like my go to drink. It was one of the smallest old fashions I've had. Like two sips. My buddy asked for the old fashioned that was not on the happy hour menu and it was basically the same drink. Super confused. read more

described themselves as "casual neighborhood bar" and that is right on point. local customers (older), local brews, locally owned. tiny bar but cool vibe even a lounge seating toward the back with a tv. it took a while for us to get even acknowledged bar tender and wife(i assume) kept their conversations going with those at the bar while noticing we came in a sat but gave us no menus or came up to us or even smiled as to acknowledge our existence -- we waited about a little over 5 mins for any menus. i wasn't mad but just fyi service super casual. i wouldn't eat here it was expensive especially for the portion and what they were serving ($14 for rice beef patty and one egg). kind of interesting menu... mexican, thai, "hawaiian", and standard burgers and salads available. if i was in the area and wanted a nice local beer without grunge or a weird crowd id come here but would not come out of my way. shared parking lot that has good amount of parking but is moderately tiny. read more

Great UP spot with great food ideas, outside the box, at reasonable prices. Always a food and cocktail special offered. Parking can be a challenge but you need to hit this place. You won't be sorry. read more

This is a great bar with very good food. I ordered the Blackberry Whiskey Smash cocktail, this drink was amazing. Then I ordered the Loco Moco entree, the dish was exceptional. The servers were outstanding. I left something at the bar, and the staff quickly left the bar and returned my item. This was such an amazing experience, I will definitely return. read more

I have passed by this place MANY times! Finally stopped by for a quick dinner. Now it's one of my new favorite places!! I can't wait to go back with some girlfriends. My meal, appetizer, drink, and customer service were all GREAT! Definitely check this place out, I absolutely love the vibe as well. If they added breakfast I would come here at least once a month because I know it would be a nice spot for that as well. Small but powerful flavors in their food. Thank you for my yummy meal! Great University Place bar to have a drink and food. They have a full bar and local beers on tap, 2 televisions and under 21 are permitted. They post a weekly food and drink special in Facebook so there is something new to try. The staff are fantastic, they talk to you and are quick on drinks and food. The space is small considering how popular it is on the weekend which usually means a little wait time so I suggest a drink at the rail while you wait. Parking can be hard to find due to the lot size and other businesses, spaces do turn quickly. Cheers! read more

Love me some Thirsty Hound ! This is the BEST bar in University Place hands down!! It's always pretty busy but if you can find a seat, go in and check it out !! The staff is always very friendly and accommodating and the food and drinks are too notch. I hadn't been in for a while but I noticed on a Facebook post they had a sliced pie as a special this week which was the BANOFFEE Pie and I must admit I'm mainly writing them a review right now in hopes management will see this review and put this pie on the menu permanently!! It's soooooo yummy with the espresso, sliced bananas, dulce de leche and chocolate. It was like a dessert dream come true for me and while the desserts they have as part of their regular menu aren't bad whatsoever --this is the one I would order every time I come in if they had it !!! It went very well with my favorite drink here, the PBJ drink, which is essentially a peanut butter jelly sandwich in a glass ... which explains why I stop in when I've got the lunch money for it ;) I also recommend the caprese salad, especially when it's hot outside as I has been this week, and the flatbread pizzas but really you can't go wrong with anything on the menu here so if you're as thirsty as a hound dog come by a drink, some grub and hangout ! read more

Ambience: This is a friendly neighborhood bar which is usually packed. They show variety of sports games on the big TVs. They also have a leather sofa and fireplace in the back! Drinks: They have rotating beers on tap, list is on their website. They also have a full bar -- blood orange margarita is my favorite! Food: Consistently tasty, restaurant style food with an Asian flair. It is homey, nonstandard bar food and a hybrid between home-cooking and a sit-down restaurant. My most recent visit involved the crab cake sliders and tom ka gai. Both delish! I also like their pretzels. Service: Decent, as long as you're not in a hurry. The wait staff will chat with you as well. Overall it feels like going to a friend's house and their mom just made lunch. (Except now I'm an adult and there's a full bar.) You know the theme song from "Cheers" - Where every one knows your name" I think the Thirsty Hound is one of those places. After my wife's birthday dinner, we (me, daughter, wife) decided the evening was still young and went here. Our daughter had been here a couple of times and the bar staff all remembered her The people at the bar were so welcoming. It's a small bar which really makes for conversation. A couple seated next to me said this is their "local". He said by coming here, he met many of his neighbors who otherwise would have been faceless. We did not eat but only drank. I'd like to come back to try the food based on the recommendations of all at the bar. read more

What a fun place and exactly what University Place needs. Biggest problem is it's small and the parking lot is small and shared with several other businesses including a Domino's Pizza, so Parking can be a challenge Don't try to go on a Friday or Saturday night that's for sure. After trying a couple of times we finally went on a Wednesday afternoon about 4:30, scored a table and by 5:30 the place was packed. They have specialty drinks, wine and beer both on tap and bottled and a good selection of both. A few entrees but the majority of food is bar food which is just fine and fits perfectly. We had a hummus plate that had pita, veggies and the hummus is made in house according to the bartender. Was yummy and we ate every bite. We also had the cheese dip with pretzels which stole the show in our book. Two huge soft pretzels and a cheese beer dip that is more like a spread which is also made in house. When the pretzels were gone, we used veggies to make sure there wasn't a drop left. My husband being a big eater wanted more so he got one of the three hot dogs they offer. they are the really big kind and his came with chili. Every day they have a food special. After a bit of a mix-up with our group. This place was amazing, over the top. There were 8 of us, and this is a picky group, everyone loved their meals. The beer was awesome and my PB&J cocktail was amazing. 2 of our group had the Thai chicken and both just about licked their plates another two had the Cajun shrimp tacos..both loved it. The service was outstanding. Everyone was so helpful and friendly. Though in the beginning I was called ma'am twice in not a nice way, oh how I dislike that. Will be back for sure!!!! I've passed by the Thirsty Hound many times and finally stopped in for dinner and a beer. It's a cute little drinking hole with a small but well thought out menu They offer apps, salads, flatbread, burgers, main entrees and dessert. The cocktail menu looked great but I was in the. mood for beer, which they had a nice tap list. Opted for the Cobb Salad which was good and the service was great. Decent little pub like place located in the University Place area. It's more of a place for people who live nearby since there isn't a huge amount of options for pubs in this area.They have guest taps with a selection that isn't too bad. I had a very good pilsner from Black Raven here. I knew I'd enjoy the beer because I always enjoy beer from Black Raven Brewing. Atmosphere is so so. I liked this spot! They have a good selection of beers, I had an Occidental beer from Portland. They have a small selection of food as well. We shared the charcuterie plate, chicken and waffle sliders and the beef skewers. They have several larger meals to choose from as well as some rotating specials. We can not say enough great things about this little hidden gem! We went because of the great reviews and they did not disappoint! The place is so nice, full bar and great selection of beers on tap. The people that work their are so attentive and the owner Steve was friendly and so passionate about his restaurant. The menu has a many a great variety of items to pick from.
