Really liked this gym - till it became too much…read more The community - Best part of the gym Some of the staff - Cool people Equipment - gets the job done. But, 2 of those things (community and staff) can only get you so far when you're paying a ton of money. Since I've been going to FFC (about 7 years total?) and starting at Elmhurst, it was pretty good. The cost, from the beginning has been high - but, what you get in return is less of a crowd. With that being said, FFC Oak Park has hit me with a monthly increase per year since I've been there and I don't think I can do it much longer. It's unfortunate because its a decent gym but, I've never been to a gym ( and I've been to quite a few ) where the monthly payment has increased yearly.

We were brushed off as if we aren't paying thousands of dollars every year. And if you ever have an issue that needs to be resolved, don't expect them to get back to you. I went in with a billing problem and spoke to three different people who all said they would follow up, none of them ever did. When I finally brought it up with the manager, he tried to turn it back on me and offered absolutely no help.

I am the type of person who needs a safe space to exercise and people around me who feel supportive and encouraging, and at Club Pilates Oak Park, I found exactly that. I invested in an unlimited membership and have attended over 50 classes so far. Every instructor I've worked with has been amazing, but a I want to give a special shoutout to Pete J., who's made working out feel fun for me again. His classes are challenging, he always helps me push myself a little harder, but most importantly, he makes me WANT to be in the room. I wake up and look forward to being in class because of the energy he brings to the studio, and it's because of him that I continue to call Club Pilates Oak Park one of my "homes" now. As long as Pete is teaching, I'll be going to Club Pilates Oak Park! (Plus, he's a Cubs fan!)

We wanted to give it a try and then sign up if we liked it. We were never given that chance. I believe we were judged based on our names at registration. We've had issues since. It's Otherwise, why cancel? If there's only 12 spots why allow 23 to register? I'm disappointed and disgusted in the way this was handled. I'll never support this location. His behavior is not isolated or accidental; it reflects a troubling pattern that makes the space feel unsafe and uncomfortable. Even more disturbing is the gym's response: management has been informed and has taken no meaningful action. Instead of protecting its members, the leadership appears more interested in protecting its own image. This is not only negligent but sends a clear message that the safety and well-being of members--especially women--are not a priority. If you're considering joining this gym, I strongly urge you to look elsewhere. There are many fitness centers that take member safety seriously and foster an atmosphere of respect and accountability. This is not one of them. Until real changes are made and accountability is enforced, I cannot recommend this gym to anyone. Sad they have to ask yelp to take down the review instead of letting people be aware of how certain employees are. Still no action.

Nice walking track but somewhat monotonous as it's 15 laps to a mile - it can get old fast unless there's an interesting game going on on the basketball court below. Clean and bright. Not sure how busy the fitness equipment gets since I haven't been in that space but I did see lots of people headed that way so it seems large enough. Nice addition to Oak Park if you live or work nearby.

They've recently added machines to the fitness center which, while adds to the variety, also minimizes the space. There fitness center is quite small, clean, and has 3 sanitizing stations to spray down the equipment. There is also an attendee, or two, at the front entrance, and a couple of (muted) TVs. Unlike a conventional fitness center, there is no music played, so headphones are encouraged, and they don't have AC or fans. There are also small lockers available. The walking path is exactly as it sounds. It's a clean walking path, with a few lanes, and a large clock so you can keep track of time. There is also a sanitizing station there, a couple of mats (for stretching), and a punching bag. It smells a bit like rubber, but that's due to the path itself. The gym is divided into 2 spaces. It's a pretty standard gym offering volleyball, basketball, pickleball, open gym, etc. (There are schedules to notify you of what is available.) If you're looking for a typical fitness center experience, this is not the place for you. You should not expect it to compete with, or compare it to, Planet Fitness, LA Fitness, Xsport, etc. It's a community recreation center. I've found that my experience varies depending on how many people are there and, more specifically, on what machines. As I stated, space is limited in the fitness center. I wish they did have a few mounted fans, or AC, to move some air around.

Back in Dec 2012, my girlfriend and I were both thinking "We really need to start doing something…read moreabout working out." We had become aware of BFit b/c I had been doing serious web research into gyms in the area. We had already been to check out Oak Park Tennis Club, and I had previously been a member at FFC, and we were considering some other things like an independent spinning class. We were trying to find something that would be not only affordable, but effective at keeping us on track. We decided to walk by BFit on one of our walks, to see what it's like. When we walk by they were finishing a class, so we didn't want to walk in necessarily, just peek at the services they offered on the door, but one of the staff there saw us looking and invited us in. That was the beginning of a wonderful 8 months of Personal Training with Darryl. We only went once a week, which is too little to actually lose a lot of weight without doing anything else, but we still went from huffin-and-puffin after no-more than 20 situps at the start, to working through 2-3 sets of 70 situps, not to mention all the squats, squat kicks, TRX, and crazy-things-Darryl-would-invent-on-the-fly-that-we-never-could-have-conceived-of-on-our-own that we did. Darryl was always very positive, cheerful, inventive, motivating, real, and funny. As Darryl will tell you, "he's got jokes" :). Darryl regularly pushed our limits, but also respected them - if i mentioned that something didn't feel right, he changed up the exercise, and could always take into account my bad knees. We moved away from Oak Park back in April, we have kept going to Darryl for over 4 months, but eventually, distance and scheduling has just gotten to be too much of a hassle for my girlfriend and me (not Darryl's fault, he was always super accomodating with our schedules). And so, alas, we are left to find something else nearer to us that's as good. In addition to Darryl, with whom we built a strong relationship, all the staff at BFit is awesome. My girlfriend took a couple group classes as well, and it is just such a wonderfully friendly place to truly workout, and get your butt kicked. We credit Darryl with kickstarting our fitness and being a wonderful human being in the process. We'll miss you Darryl! - T&G

This place is absolutely amazing! Lynette and her team of fitness professionals are upbeat,…read morepositive, fun, motivational and all around winners! I've been attending the Saturday morning bootcamp - 7:45AM for $9 cash - and I see and feel a difference in my body and my spirit. They encourage you to push yourself while being respectful of your limitations and instructing you to listen to what your body is telling you. There are ALL age ranges, ALL fitness levels, ALL body types and EVERYONE is made to feel welcome and part of the party. It's inclusive, diverse and fun! And this is a serious bootcamp, so you will sweat and work hard and get your work-out money's worth, so make sure to bring a little towel and a bottle of water (or you can buy one there). I really like that you don't have to make a long-term commitment with a membership and can pay by the class. They do have package-deals that offer savings, but I haven't taken advantage of them. If there's any drawback it would be that the space is a bit smallish, so the bootcamp experience may seem a little chaotic to someone more accustomed to Bally's, YMCA or Fitness Formula Club, but Lynette and her team make the space work. I have been a member at all of the places mentioned above and I will say that BFit is by far and away the most fun, most challenging, most positive work out I've ever had. Honestly, this is a fantastic place with great people and positive energy! If you want to get beach-body ready or just need to move a bit more and want to have fun while you're doing it, this is the place to go!

He is excellent at designing workouts and he has so much positive energy that it rubs off on you. I have always been active, but losing my job, then being on lockdown with a toddler threw me off my game. The gyms were closed, the weather was nasty, and I just couldn't motivate myself to do workouts at home. I gained weight and felt sluggish. I was not myself. That's when I found Tommaso and helped me turn things around. At first, I was not excited about the concept of a virtual trainer. I didn't think it would be much better than a workout video. Boy was I wrong! I signed up for the assessment and decided to have an open mind. After that first session I was really encouraged. I was amazed at how well Tommaso could identify what was going on with my body all through my iPad screen. For example, he could tell that my right side was weaker and knew that I had an old injury on that side without me telling him. He also radiated positivity and talked about mind and body, not just about training or losing weight. I took the plunge and signed up to work with him for 3 months minimum. Now 5 months later, I'm so happy I made that decision. He has helped me transform my body and feel good again. If you're thinking about working with him, just do it! You won't be sorry.

Tommaso setup a 12 week program for me around these needs and I was very happy with the process and results and I then signed up for a second 12 week engagement (currently happening at the time of this review). Everything is virtual which allows a lot of freedom and the ability to maintain our workout schedule when I'm traveling by bringing a minimal amount of gear. I was initially skeptical of a virtual approach but after speaking with his prior clients and experiencing it for myself it has proved great - don't let this hold you back. Workouts are tailored to my level and abilities and address aches and pains when they arise. The nutritional coaching has been key for me as we review my weekly eating habits and tweak things slowly over time to eliminate unhealthy cravings with healthy substitutions and mental awareness of eating decisions. I wanted a realistic all around approach to maintain a healthy lifestyle. I have done my share of extreme diets and workout regimens which work for a while but aren't sustainable. Tommaso is focused on realistic long term strategies that will work long into the future and that is what I'm getting. I highly recommend working with Tommaso to tailor a program for you and achieve your specific goals.
