I've been coming to Booya's for over 10 years and have always loved it. I understand that with the current economy, prices and costs can fluctuate. However, lately I've noticed the portions have become inconsistent, especially with some of the younger employees. Today I ordered a large burrito and received what looked like maybe one scoop of steak. For the price of a large burrito, I expected a fair portion. I'm not trying to complain just to complain -- I've been a loyal customer for years -- but I'd really appreciate more consistency with portions going forward. read more

I was passing by this location and thought to stop in to grab lunch. They off various Chex mex dishes from burrito bowls, tacos and nachos. All the ingredients were fresh and the chicken had a mild Buffalo flavor. They have other chicken flavor options so maybe try the other flavors. The restaurant has plenty of seating inside and outside seating. I didn't have much interaction with the staff besides walking them through what I wanted on my bowl but they were nice. read more

This is still one of my favorite places to get a burrito. Some days it's not as good as others. Most of the time it's great. They make huge burritos and I always get the same thing along with a bag of chips, which is only $1 more. I have been patronizing Booya's for years and I have loved it from the start. Of course their Tex-Mex is outstanding, especially their tilapia tacos and burrito. They are super generous with their portioning, almost to a fault! Most of their regular sized burritos are knife and fork meals! I'm not reviewing their Tex-Mex though. I've always enjoyed their burgers but recently I discovered you may order the meat to your preferred temp. I like my beef medium and I rarely run across a chef who can do that outside of a high end steak place, much less an eat in counter service restaurant like Booya's! However, the last three times my wife and I have eaten here I've ordered a burger, cooked to medium and every time it has come out perfect! In fact, I would say, outside of my own ;-) it is the best burger I've ever had! No joke! Of course you may get it dressed however you like, but the meat is amazing. It made no difference whether they were in a lull or completely slammed...perfectly cooked burger. I do have to say I miss the salsa bar but they will give you as much of the pre-prepped containers as you like so try them all! The other great thing about this place is the fact they like to hire local high school students. I'm not sure what their training methods are but I've never seen a harder working group of teenagers in my life! It is controlled chaos or a crazy ballet behind the counter while they churn out food as you like it all the while they are all smiling and never seeming to get in each other's way. Booya's is a great spot to have lunch , a casual date night , catch up with friends or even bring your family ! The restaurant is split vertically down the middle with the restaurant on one side and the bar and high tops on another. My favorite dishes are the chipotle shrimp in a taco basil shell , steak fries and a wine or cocktail to compliment. The service is fast and the employees are always polite . This was my first time trying Booya's. The steak quesadilla was so flavorful and filling. The chips were just tortilla chips and nothing remarkable about them. The seasoned fries were okay and would be something good to share with the table. They weren't really remarkable either. The quesadilla was the star of the show, though. Better than Chipotle Booyah's offers fresher ingredients. A salsa bar offering fresh never premade. I've had everything from Burritos Burgers & Taco Salads. I have yet to be disappointed with their service dinner orders & moderate bar selection. If you're holding a party with a large group & decide to celebrate your Birthday or any get together. They offer any back room to accommodate you & your party. If you wish to enjoy the nice weather with a Margarita or your meal. Booya's offers a patio area. If you wish to stay in that's fine as they offer a reasonably sized dining area. It's not bad but I feel it needs to be expanded a bit to offer more seating to accommodate the volume of patrons who come in & have a meal. The bar area is a bit small I'm not too impressed with it. I wouldn't recommend it if you just want to hang out at the bar. I'd suggest going somewhere else if drinking is your Forte. Service was good kind of weird that you have to order separately for drinks and food but ok. Food was just meh. Not a whole lot of flavor. While shopping in Collierville this evening, with a friend of mine, she recommended to visit one of her favorite restaurants she spoke so highly of Booya's Collierville, and I was excited to give them a try. They were busy as are most restaurants are amidst the recent reopening of the city. We take to the social distancing protocols and wait on the patio as instructed to place our order to-go. We wait, place our order with a server and proceed to sit outside with the other guests. Promptly 10 minutes later our server brings out our food and walks away. We inspect our food, to make sure everything is fine, but also take the fact that we hadn't paid. We stop a different staff member and notify him that we hadn't paid and that we would like to. After paying and presented with the receipt to sign, I noticed under the server information that the server entered "Black People" as our guest name. Mind you we were the only black people there... it was very obvious. We know we're black... very simple. Immediately, disgusted and appalled we ask for the manager. To our surprise the "manager" could have cared less... we were presented with a mild "apology" and a shrug as to what he was suppose to do about this situation. He lacked compassion, empathy, moral and tact. So it's not surprising that a staff member would feel comfortable doing something like this. After realizing that OUR concern was none of HIS concern, I tried my best to be modest, I offered an explanation as to how disrespectful and embarrassing this was to us. My friend immediately ask for the owners contact information, as the situation was not being handled properly at all. We were then offered a sheer apology from the staff member and brushed off with a $15 gift card also never refunding me for food. As if this was just a coincidence and how dare we speak up about it. In the midst of everything else going on the world right now, I really can't explain how I felt in the moment. The stares of the other customers, listening nearby + being the only minorities in the vicinity, I didn't feel safe to express my true concern for their behavior because I am a black man in a predominantly white area, nor did I feel validated as a person or as a customer of Booya's Collierville. The only thought running through my mind was that this wasn't going to end up good and if I say the wrong thing we could be the next hashtag. I honestly felt that they were insulting my intelligence by trying to get another coworker who they think would make me feel better about the situation tell me he put it on there. This is unacceptable no matter who put it on there. I have worked in food for man years and know you never do that if you do not have the guest name. Booya's Collierville, I am very disappointed in the mishandling of this situation by your staff and the "manager" on duty. Went to Booya at 1:30 pm on Monday, ordered 2 fried catfish taco's as it come with added jalapinoes. was given 1 fries talipa taco with no jalapinoes, told server about the error, she said "ok". 15 minutes later still no food, went to back to see about it and all employees are outside chit chatting, then had to wait another 10 minutes to ask about my order, they said "oh", knew nothing about it. I am burrito crazy, unfortunately not for this one. Flour tortilla is steamed not heated on a grill so it makes it very doughy. I ordered steak but it tasted just like pot roast, if you like pot roast go for it ! Added lettuce that tasted like the plastic bag it came out of, sour cream that was so thin you couldn't taste it. Booya's is simply a really good place for an alternative to the same old fast-food and even though I've been there when there's been quite a few people in the queue the line moves at a steady pace. It's by no means fancy but it's it's definitely casual, pretty clean and comfortable. It has a lot of seating and they have made a reasonable attempt at creating an atmosphere that's great for a quick lunch or a good sit-down meal for two or the whole family. The menus are big chalk boards behind the counter and near the area that you step up to place your order. That's the drill here, you walk in and proceed along what resembles a cafeteria line or maybe a cattle chute (lol) and step up to the bustling group of folks behind the counter who will either commence putting together your custom order right on front of you or will pass it along to the other folks that are hidden away in the kitchen behind them. Then you proceed to the end of the procession to the cashier who takes your drink order, and if needed, gives you a little placard with a number to prominently display on your table so they can deliver your order, then gives you cups for your fountain drinks, a tray and rings you up. About the menu, the taco sales are kinda the star and they appropriately make them custom and available in steak, ground beef, grilled chelicken, chipotle shrimp, surf & turf or just veggie and you can choose from flour, wheat or sunrise tomato shells. The taco salads are my favorites however my honey loves here quesadilla's and they also come custom just cheese or with the same choices as the taco salad it's the same story for the tacos. They have some additional choices that include those mentioned above plus grilled tilapia, fried catfish and buffalo fried catfish. There's a lot to choose from with the custom ingredients and toppings but noteable are the pickled jalapenos, black olives, cucmbers, corn relish, cilantro and guacamole. They also offer burgers and fries that seem to be pretty popular but I am here for the other stuff. Hey there's lot's of burger joints around. They also have nacho chips and queso or just for soaking up some of the salsa choices. Speaking of salsa, I really like the salsa bar, first of all the choices are good between mild or sorta hot and green or red salsa plus it's the only place around where you can get pineapple salsa. I am a big fan of fresh lime juice both on my Tex-Mex and on my Vietnamese so it's great to get a bunch of lime wedges to fresh squeeze on my taco salad or burritos. They have a pretty decent full service bar, complete with local beers on tap, frozen drinks and TV, the bar actually kinda seems out if place in what otherwise is more like a combination Tex-Mex, cafeteria fast-food family restaurant. Actually it's all of those and not exactly either one, but I digress :-) On our most recent I chose a big tomato basil shell taco with lots of veggies and beans, yummy. My sweetgeart said that the chipotle shrimp quesadilla was pretty darn good. I genuinely like to pick out all the ingredients and the quantity that I know will be just right for my palette. This is easy to do here because the servers stand at the ready over the assortment of beans, veggies, cheeses, sauces, etc. and make my overstuffed taco salad just the way I like it. Surprise alert: the chicken wings are really pretty darn good!! I know it easn't in my radar when I thought "chicken wings" but one of the cheery servers randomly asked me if I had tried the wings and I honestly hadn't ever considered then st thez place before. She told me tast they were really good and that I should try them, so I did. Surprise indeed because these are legit!! We both get military discounts, which is nice and I have mad respect for businesses that give a nod to veterans. In case it's not obvious, yes I am a regular and this place is only a few minutes from my house but I will be going there again soon. I'm not even the Yelp Duke other people go there pretty regular too.
