Chicken Chimichanga - absolutely delicious
Steve Z.

First time here and my co-worker and I loved it. Emmanuel was our server and he was awesome - never missed a beat, super responsive and friendly. Our food was equally amazing. I had the chicken chimichanga and my friend had the quesadilla - came out super fast and was absolutely delicious. I read a lot of reviews of this place and there was a lot of complaints about service - people must have had a bad day, because our service was fantastic. In other words, don't believe the negative hype. Hoping this review changes some perceptions - please give them a try.

Skinny Margaritas
C S.

Best Skinny Margaritas in town, made from scratch and best enjoyed by the pitcher for a group. We sub the homemade tomatillo salsa for the regular salsa and it never disappoints. Facility is clean to the point of being g spotless. High quality meat is utilized, something I always question at other Mexican restaurants in this area.

Chicken soup?? It's shredded chicken in water. Thats not broth. There's zero flavor here.

Placed an online order for pick up. The soup lid wasn't on all the way, so it made a mess in the bag. The soup was just shredded chicken in water (see photo), so I drained it and heated it up in my own chicken broth and herbs and salt and pepper. My last order also wasn't so great- In that one I got a cheese enchilada a la carte. The cheese wasn't even melted and the whole thing was cold. So this was my last visit.

Rstaurants that take advantage of their patrons just need to close. Fridas is taking advantage of their customers. Here's their scheme: If you order online for PICKUP yourself, directly from their webpage, they charge you the same amount as if you are ordering from DoorDash. That is not right. They are getting away with it because people have become accustomed to paying higher prices when using DoorDash. They charge you a premium of 33% to %38 percent more for you to go and pick up your own food. If you go in rather than place the order online, the prices are 33% to 38% CHEAPER. Frida's food is good, but when compared to other equally good Mexican restaurants in town, whose uninflated prices are already cheaper than Frida's, there is NO WAY Frida's is worth 50%+ more than the other offerings. Do better Fridas! Call them, write them, review them.

Best Flautas Ever! I…read morereally enjoy coming here. It's one of our favorite Mexican places now. Most of the things I've gotten here have been excellent. The flautas are just the best and it's my mom's favorite thing, too. Hubby has found his new fav burrito here so we come here often. I'm excited to try more stuff. The mixed drinks are pretty good as well. I don't know why but I cannot stand the corn tortillas here. They have a very off-putting smell to me. We tried the Margaritas Chicken Dip and I felt like there was way too much chicken and not enough queso. I think we will try the version without chicken next time and see if we like it better. I do love that this place has such an extensive menu because I'm always finding something different I want to try. We have both fallen in LOVE with the Gringo Quesadillas here. Joel prefers the chicken option but I am obsessed with the al pastor version. The steak version is meh (we got it by mistake once). The salsa is what really makes it. They bring a salsa for you to dip it in and put a little in the quesadilla itself. It's AMAZING. It's pretty much all we have been getting lately. The Pollo Borracho is good but it's got such a strong flavor that it's best eaten with tortillas to mellow it out a bit. The taco salad was pretty good. I really liked the flavor of the shell. It doesn't reheat that great but it's still decent. The baja taco had no flavor and fell apart to easily to eat. The quesetaco de puerco had too much fat on it. The quesetaco del pollo also had no flavor. The Chimichanga Casera tastes like nothing but tortilla and cheese. You can't even taste the meat. Same with the Fajita Quesadailla. I like the chicken option but the one with all the meats just mainly tastes like cheese. I disliked the Camarones Don Jose because they left the tails on the shrimp and the shrimp itself wasn't flavored, the bacon and cheese were just it. It was meh for me. The Pollo Bravo doesn't have much flavor other than cheese. I like onions and mushrooms but it felt like it needed more veggies. The Anaconda is fun and I would love to eat it with a group. Hubby and I liked it but it had too much rice inside to the point where it was dry. It benefitted from some queso. The shrimp fajitas come with the shells on them??? My sister got it and mentioned you can ask them to deshell it I think. Or she mentioned that she forgot to order something different. IDK but I would never want to eat that and have to fight for me food so I'll never get that. Loved: - Baked Potato: Margarita - all three meats (NEW FAV!) - Burrito: Califas (grilled chicken) - Pollo: Matamoros - Pollo: Parrilla - Margarita's Flautas (Chicken) - Quesadilla Gringa: al Pastor (FAV) - Side: Charro Beans - Tacos Authentic: Al Pastor Liked: - Appetizer: Margarita's Flautas (Steak) - Burrito Califas: Fajita Chicken (Joel disliked) - Camarones: Borrachos - Camarones: a la Mexicana - Drink: El Gato y el Raton (Tom and Jerry) - Drink: Piña Colada - Fajitas: Pineapple - Fajitas: Yucatan (Joel fav) - Guacamole Casero (but I can make at home) - Margaritas Taco Salad - Nachos: Fiesta Fajita Pollo - Nachos: Loaded (Joel liked) - Nachos: Tazon de Pollo - Pollo: Borracho - Pollo: El Margaritas - Pollo: Loco - Quesadilla Gringa: Grilled Chicken - Side: Refried Pinto Beans - Side: Rice - Quesadilla: Fajita de Pollo Ok: - Appetizer: Chicken Margarita Dip - Appetizer: Margarita's Flautas (Shrimp) - Burrito: California (swap out shrimp for carnitas) - Carnitas Dinner - Chimichange: Fajita Chicken - Drink: Horchata - Eduardo's Chicken - Pollo: Arroz Margaritas (chicken) - Pollo: Arroz Margaritas (chicken and steak) - Pollo: Bravo - Pollo con Crema - Pollo: Margaritas (shrimp on side) - Tacos: Birria - Taco: Pastor - Torta: Pastor - Quesadilla: Fajita Disliked: - Burrito: Wet - Camarones Don Jose - Carne Asada - Chimichanga: Casera - Enchiladas: Sour Cream Chicken - Fries: Carne Asada (changed to Pollo) - Huevos Rancheros - Taco: Baja - Tacos Roc - Tortillas: Corn - Quesetaco: Pollo - Quesetaco: Puerco

It was pretty busy when we went on a Wednesday evening and that showed us some promise. I am from Arizona so I know good Mexican food. We walked in and sat down right away. I brought my hydro flask water bottle inside and didn't order a drink from our waitress. Another lady came up after and said I couldn't have outside food or drinks inside and I told them it was just water and she rudely said if I didn't take it outside I couldn't stay. This literally blew my mind. It's water. And to threaten my presence over a cup is wild. This introduction did not leave me with any optimism for the food. They give you chips and salsa with individual cups for salsa which I do appreciate. Both were fine but the salsa tasted like Pace from a jar. Our food came out in a reasonable amount of time, however my order was wrong. I got the pick 3 combo with rice and beans. I picked a beef quesadilla, a chille relleno and a fried tamale but the tamale was relaxed with some kind of stuff poblano pepper. Both stuffed peppers were terrible and I didn't eat them. The meat inside was soft and mushy and the sauce on the top had way too much going on. The quesadilla had good cheese but the "shredded beef" was really like a soft roasting meat that had no salt. I think I only ate the rice and beans and 1/3 of the quesadilla and took all of the toppings out of it. Overall a terrible experience and I would never return if I lived here.

So much that I usually make little happy dances and pleasure sounds while eating. I don't even care who sees me either. There is more soul in this little gas station restaurant than anywhere within twenty miles. This is Soul Food at its best. You may ask how I can call Mexican food, Soul Food...? Here is my take... Soul Food, to me, is much more than a "type of food". Don't get me crooked, I am all about some OxTail's, Smothered Pork Chops, Chicken & Dressing, Turkey Necks, Greens, Cornbread, etc. etc. etc. It's about food made with love, by people who love to make food, with techniques and seasonings handed down through generations of good people. That is what you get here! Every time I eat here I am filled with the love of the folks in the kitchen as well as their ancestors. It's a small family business, and Tony is one of the greatest people you will ever meet. He is so happy to be in his little section of this gas station slinging this heavenly food. I drive 40 minutes each way from work to eat here and as soon as I leave I cannot wait to get back. It's that damn good! Everything is great, but you have to try the Carnitas! Life changing flavor!
