I've never seen a great restaurant go from good to so bad in a short time. Changed the menu and removed much of my favorite dishes. Now charging an automatic 15% tip, regardless of party size. Originally just 10% during Covid, never went away and now even bigger. Tonight they were out of Dt Pepsi. The steer tacos came with hat looked like a cup of water poured over them. I asked for Nachos supreme with no beans and it came out covered In beans. I'm done and never going back. I used to look past the poor service for the food, but now that is terrible and they take thier tip anyway. There are way better Mexican food places to eat. read more

Ordered a beef chimichanga and a spinach and cheese quesadilla. When I got home, the quesadilla wasn't there so | had to go back to the restaurant to get it. First time here and my co-worker and I loved it. Emmanuel was our server and he was awesome - never missed a beat, super responsive and friendly. Our food was equally amazing. I had the chicken chimichanga and my friend had the quesadilla - came out super fast and was absolutely delicious. I read a lot of reviews of this place and there was a lot of complaints about service - people must have had a bad day, because our service was fantastic. Came here on a date night with my husband. We ordered single vodka sodas. Drank single vodka sodas. Were charged for DOUBLES. Paid $15 a pop. We did not ask for doubles and our drinks were certainly not strong enough to be two shots apiece. We ordered through Uber Eats. My husband loved his Shane King Burrito, praising the steak for being flavorful and tender, and the rice for being "extra tasty". I got the Frida's Special Chicken, and it did not disappoint. It was a huge serving, quite tasty. We were both very disappointed with the Chunky Guacamole. The "chunks" were very large, and hard to mash into guacamole. If you waited to eat chunks of avocado with dressing, then this is the dish for you. If you want true guacamole that you can scoop with a chip, avoid this dish. We ordered a side of cheese dip which we did not receive. We ordered chips & salsa and received two large bags of chips. Placed an online order for pick up. The soup lid wasn't on all the way, so it made a mess in the bag. Rstaurants that take advantage of their patrons just need to close. Fridas is taking advantage of their customers. Here's their scheme: If you order online for PICKUP yourself, directly from their webpage, they charge you the same amount as if you are ordering from DoorDash. That is not right. They are getting away with it because people have become accustomed to paying higher prices when using DoorDash. They charge you a premium of 33% to %38 percent more for you to go and pick up your own food. If you go in rather than place the order online, the prices are 33% to 38% CHEAPER. Frida's food is good, but when compared to other equally good Mexican restaurants in town, whose uninflated prices are already cheaper than Frida's, there is NO WAY Frida's is worth 50%+ more than the other offerings. Although we've lived in the area for nearly 25 years, we'd never heard of Frida's because it's not in the same area of Carriage Crossing as the restaurants we usually frequent. We had a group of nine people and a few of them recommended Frida's for our group. We made reservations and went on a Saturday around 5pm. Our total experience was outstanding! Our server was on top of things from the start and always kept our glasses filled and needs met. The chips, salsa and cheese dip were excellent as appetizers. This place is in an outdoor mall shopping center. We had to wait about an hour on a Thursday afternoon. The waitress was friendly but had no idea what she was doing. We tried to order multiple drinks and were told that they did not have them only to see others get the drink. This place has a full bar so they should be able to make Long Islands and other drinks. I've been here twice. First time was busy but our waiter was very attentive. We started off with the margarita pitcher, it was very sweet and couldn't taste the tequila so we ordered an extra shot to give it a kick. For food we got the sampler, won't be ordering this again, the food was sitting on a pile of browned lettuce. Second time around we came on a Monday and sat at the bar. We got the jumbo margaritas with Cabo Wabo Silver Tequila for $12, the bartender said it was their special of the day. The tequila was definitely there and it tasted great! so much so that I ordered 3 of these. For our entree we got Fajita's for 2, they came out steaming hot and tasted great. I think our server is still new and when you're training people, I think it's important to make sure they know the menu and are comfortable to be alone. I was very clear about my order and still received the wrong thing. I asked for the correct item and it looks like all they did was put the meat on the right taco shell. Everything is room temperature, doesn't seem freshly cooked and the onions are raw. If I come back it'll be awhile. Chile, let me update this since we have our ticket. We asked for napkins as there were no napkins nor silverware on the table. Took a long time to receive those. Ordered Pollo Tampico (my usual) and tilapia tacos. Took a long time to get food. When it arrived, it was ALL lukewarm or cold. Obviously, it had been sitting in the back. Told server, she offered to redo the meals. We didn't want to send out meals back. This restaurant has gone down tremendously. I had my daughters graduation party here as I have had mine, and my son. One thing I loved was they are accommodating to large groups. I have never had an issue before May 17th. They told us they did not have chips and salsa and half the items on the men we could not order nachos, anything with chicken etc. They had my information and did not call ahead to let us know they told us once we sat down and asked for chip. We were a large party so we couldn't go anywhere else we made die with what they had. I ordered 1 taco and was charged 2 dollars for a spoonful of sour cream my friend was charged 10 dollars for queso that came in the small dish you put your salsa in. Her steak was that unbearable she had to drown it in cheese. I could go on and on thankfully the servers were so kind and attentive. when we left we saw the guest downstairs with chips and salsada. I reached out to Jesse G he basically told me the supervisor said they had a good night no issues. The reason there were no issues is because we mad due with what we had and there was no point in complaining about something that we thought was out of there control. This restaurant has a serious management problem. I took my family there for dinner on Friday 1/06/2023 (my inlaws, my 2 kids, and my wife). The ambiance and food were relatively OK, but the service left a terrible taste in my mouth. Service was slow in spite of the low occupation at the time, but forgivable. We weren't given knives with our meal, and when we asked for some (we had ordered steaks and enchiladas), the waitress replied that she needed to know exactly how many we needed because the manager didn't like to give them out unless they were needed so they didn't have to wash them (really). Then I asked if they had any really hot sauce (the one they served with tortilla chips was OK but not spicy). The waitress said yes and asked how many we needed. We asked for 2. Then the bill came, and when I examined it, I noticed they had charged $6.18 for "Tamale Sauce". I asked the waitress about the charge, and she said that was the hot sauce I was given. I asked to please remove it from the bill because she never cautioned me there would be an extra charge for the sauce AND it was so bad no one at the table ate it (it wasn't spicy, it had a rancid flavor). She said she couldn't do it but she could bring the manager. The manager, a person who identified as Carlos, was intolerant, unwilling to listen, and awful. He had a terrible condescending attitude and, in all, refused to remove the charge for the horrible salsa we couldn't eat and were not warned we'd be charged for. For reference, we ordered appetizers and all 6 of us had ordered dinner plates. The total for the bill was $181.72 (service charge included). This guy acted as if we were trying to cheat them and get something for free. Despite the restaurant being conveniently located near my home and the food being reasonable, I can never go back and can not recommend it to anybody. A restaurant's service is an important thing for me, and this place treated us like trash. Never again. It bothered me enough that I waited until I was calm to write my review. I hope this is read by management, and they take action to correct what will lose them a lot of business. read more

We had a group of 20 that we were willing to work with fridas to simply divide out 10 and 10 in order for 1 person to not have to pay for alcoholic beverages and meals of 20 people. They absolutely REFUSED to work with us. When we told them we could not add alcohol to our expense report, they just said "sorry. That's our rule." I would like to add that there was maybe 4 other people in the restaurant so they could have accommodated us since there were plenty of servers waiting. Do not go here. Whenever we lived in midtown Memphis we found the Frida's location there to be atrocious. They had this dreadful waiter who was always belligerently nasty to customers. I gave them a poor review to which they never responded. However that was just as well since that location is dirty and dank looking. We thought perhaps the new location in Collierville was better. Today our waitress had the charm of a cactus. She kept mixing up our orders, had to be asked 3 times to bring my iced tea, never once smiled or exchanged pleasantries. I typically am very understanding if someone is overworked or forgetful if they are sweet and positive. However this unpleasant waitress did not deserve to mandatory 10% surcharge that was added to our bill. We will not be returning to Frida's for a very long time. El Mezcal down the street from us is worlds better in service. read more
