    Hot cocoa with whipped cream!
    Schyler B.

Stepping into this restaurant felt like stepping into a small town cafe, I was greeted so warmly and though the place was small it was not cluttered at all and I got to whiteness the staff very often chat with their customers, greeting them by name and asking if they want their "usual" It seems like a very community oriented cafe! very homely, so so kind. I love restaurants like this, so personable and really made my day! the decore is fun! I got to sit in an alcove with cool chicken pictures on the walls! hot chocolate is always a win! Tastes the same as my childhood! My eyes went immediately to the Chipotle Bacon sandwich, ooooooohhhhhh SO GOOOD!!! I am one to alway eat half and save the rest for later but I sat and devoured the whole thing! The bacon is realllllly good!!! I will definitely be coming back here, I'm just sad I found this cute little cafe a few weeks before I move out of county (Price was REALLY good! food was delicious and service was spectacular!)

I came for the stuffed French toast, and it was well worth the trip! They were busy on a Saturday morning but we snagged a 2 top pretty quickly. The dining area was pretty basic but we had the window table which was nice. If you plan to visit, bring cash and you'll get a free homemade cookie to go!

Food is great quality diner type food. And just what you want on a weekend morning when you can treat yourself. All of the breakfast dishes were great (been here twice and had pancakes, breakfast burrito and regular breakfast dish with eggs/toast). One thing that makes you want to come back and enjoy the experience is the service. Joe and Kelly (forgive me if names aren't correct) are great. Joe has been my primary server on both visits and he not only calls everyone friend he treats you like a friend. I'll be back again!

Thank you for letting us know why your family owned business has been around for over 30 years. From the moment we walked into the Borderline Cafe; we immediately felt the warmest of welcome extended to each and every customer walking through the door from Rae and Joe. We loved the "Hi Friends" and other pleasantries extended as guests entered. The service was with a smile and the food made with love. Our breakfast tasted just as good as the service. Everything we ordered was delicious and coffee was hot and refilled before my cup was empty. If you are ever in the Cleveland area, beeline it to Borderline. They will help you start your day off right.

Long waits. Excellent breakfast. Try to get the seat in the window if possible. It adds to the experience of having a good home cooked meal. While we all should be able to take our time, eat, and chat; be a team player, don't linger--eat, and be on your way.

This place is a sweet, funky little casual restaurant with a great menu and excellent customer service. Looking forward to our next visit to try more on the menu!

This place surprised me. If you're planning to come here, keep a few things in mind: 1) you wait in line outside to be called in (no list, no call ahead seating), 2) the menu items are large portions so order a half portion if you're worried about that and 3) it's no longer cash only! After waiting for 45 minutes outside, I got to have Sunday breakfast here. I tried the huevos rancheros verde with chorizo, a side of home fries and the special stuffed pumpkin French toast! All were great and I would get them all again.

    Cuban sandwich with queso tots

My family and I chose Borderline Cafe from Yelp reviews while spending a morning in Lakewood, OH. It's a small place with not a lot of tables, but a hard-working staff taking great care of their customers. We had a late breakfast/ early lunch. I ordered the Cuban sandwich pictured here, and it hit the spot. Quality meats, tasty mustard and pickles, and melt cheese. As a side I chose the tots, and just couldn't help myself and added some queso. While the queso was good, the tots already well-spiced, so it wasn't necessary. All around a great meal. Bring cash for a discounted bill. They accept CCs, but they pass on the fees which is perfectly understandable. Enjoy this place if you haven't already.

I finally went to this local staple to the area after living down the street from it for 9 years! It's a small, busy place so unless you get there when they open expect at least a little bit of a wait. I think my friend and I only waited about 15 minutes thankfully and the weather was nice because you do have to wait outside. We were seated in a small alcove with two other two top tables - it was cozy but not cramped. I had such a hard time deciding what to have! They have so many delicious sounding items on the menu and a lot of the items you can do a half or whole order of. I had a whole order of the banana nut stuffed French toast and a side of sausage. The server did warn me a full order of French toast is pretty big - it was more than I needed. It was so delicious! The filing really was the star of the show but the actual French toast was soft yet crispy. One of the awesome things about Borderline is they have coffee from 'Ready, Set, Coffee' which is a local coffee shop I haven't tried yet. They also prefer if you pay with cash but they do accept card. BUT if you do pay with card you get a complimentary homemade cookie! I don't know if it's the same every day or if it changes but I was given what I think was a chocolate dipped coconut shortbread cookie - it was so yummy! I will definitely be returning because I have so many things I need to try on the menu.

Food was great and service was as well! Would suggest the skillet plate and the Hot chocolate had sprinkles, which was a nice touch.

We came in on a Sunday and it wasn't very busy probably around 2:30 PM and we sat outside on the patio and it took a good amount of time for someone to finally come over and ask if we wanted water and then that person never came back with the water. Our server then finally came over and brought us water. I'd probably say a total of 15 minutes later... We ordered the food and it was absolutely fantastic, but we only saw our waiter one more time. We were finished and waiting for the check for another easily 15 minutes and I finally had to go inside and ask and someone that work there told me our server left for a bit just temporarily, but he would be back. Didn't bother to check on us before we left so I asked that person if I could have a box to go and the check I definitely wanna come back, but I really hope the service improves because I've also read some other reviews from this place and a few people have shared the same experience.

Nice outside seating area both in the shade and the sun...too bad your view is of Clifton! I ordered the Grecian Chicken Pita. Basically a Greek salad without a whole lot of lettuce. It was very good! Instead of fries I got the steamed veggies- broccoli and carrots. They tasted like broccoli and carrots. It's a shame their fresh cut fries or sweet potato fries aren't on my diet this week. Service was a bit slow and very casual. Had a hard time picking the servers out from the patrons as they didn't seem to have matching attire, but that doesn't take away from the positive experience. Just a bit unexpected when some dude in a baseball hat walks up to the table and asks if you're ready to order...

We weren't really greeted as we walked in but a woman said hi as we took a seat. No one else acknowledged us and we didn't realize she worked there because she was just kind of visiting at a table. There were also two other tables being used by young children to play and nap. So, it was a little awkward... Anyway, another woman finally came out from the back and gave us menus and coffee. We had eggs, bacon, sausage, toast and blueberry pancakes. It was fine. It's really standard food that kind of just feels like you went to someone's house for breakfast... including a little burnt edge on the pancakes. There is a bar, the normal restaurant drinks and unsweetened iced tea. Free refills on sodas and tea. Soup specials change daily but the normally have lentil, chicken noodle, chicken and rice and matzoh ball soups. Fridays are usually New England Clam Chowder. Saturdays they usually have German Dumpling. My faves are the clam and the matzoh ball. Deli sandwiches, grilled sandwiches, chicken sandwiches and burgers. Salads. Apps. Dinners. They really have everything. Oh and breakfast too. My faves are the fresh fruit plate with muffin, the mix and match, the chicken salad sandwich, either of the club sandwiches, the BLT and the hot dog. It's a grilled hot dog and worth it. I also really like the latkes and corned beef. My daughter loves the shish tawook. My husband loves the huge onion rings. A family friend swears by the open roast beef sandwich with mashed potatoes. Another friend d loves the pastrami. I really love this restaurant. I cannot think of a bad meal. Ever. I go about twice a month. There is an app for ordering.
