Well, I've only drown by this place about 1000 times and finally decided to give it a try. I honestly wanted to give it five stars based solely on the food, but the service was probably three stars. We came in on a Sunday and it wasn't very busy probably around 2:30 PM and we sat outside on the patio and it took a good amount of time for someone to finally come over and ask if we wanted water and then that person never came back with the water. Our server then finally came over and brought us water. I'd probably say a total of 15 minutes later... We ordered the food and it was absolutely fantastic, but we only saw our waiter one more time. We were finished and waiting for the check for another easily 15 minutes and I finally had to go inside and ask and someone that work there told me our server left for a bit just temporarily, but he would be back. Didn't bother to check on us before we left so I asked that person if I could have a box to go and the check I definitely wanna come back, but I really hope the service improves because I've also read some other reviews from this place and a few people have shared the same experience. read more

Came in on a Thursday afternoon for a late lunch. Was promptly and courteously seated. This place is a throw back, with 'diner' style bar stools,tables, and a few booths. Nice outside seating area both in the shade and the sun...too bad your view is of Clifton! I ordered the Grecian Chicken Pita. Basically a Greek salad without a whole lot of lettuce. It was very good! Instead of fries I got the steamed veggies- broccoli and carrots. They tasted like broccoli and carrots. It's a shame their fresh cut fries or sweet potato fries aren't on my diet this week. Service was a bit slow and very casual. Had a hard time picking the servers out from the patrons as they didn't seem to have matching attire, but that doesn't take away from the positive experience. Based on other reviews, I'll agree that because it's such a busy, high-energy place, the staff does their best but can struggle to keep up with the demand. A small diner with indoor and outdoor seating. The patio area is cute and nice to sit when the weather is nice. Upon walking in you see white and black tile flooring. We were greeted almost immediately. We chose to sit on the patio. The menu has a variety of options to choose from. We both went with wraps, which were good. I would like to go back to try other items on their menu. However, the service wasn't the best. We saw our waiter after we were seated and then when the food was brought out. He never came back to check on us. We had to ask a different server for our check. Showed up to get a table before my friend got here and was flat out told I wasn't allowed to be seated until the other person arrived. I'm in the service industry and never have I ever been refused to be seated. EVER. I've eaten at this place before. So when my friend arrives and I'm made to wait for other people to finish their food, to be seated after waiting to be seated, I've been forced to stand at the front for longer than necessary. I guess it's a 5 star restaurant if you've gone multiple times and taken guests! My first experience at the DinerBar was when my new boss took my out to lunch and suggested it. I had a hot turkey sandwich, which I always look forward to, with mashed potatoes and corn. I really enjoyed it, it was warm and comforting, and, again, a favorite. So about a year later, I went back with a friend for brunch, and the cheese omelet was just about perfect. It was so cheesy and melty, and I am not normally an omelet person! My friend had banana pancakes, which she was so excited were an option, and had good things to say. It was pretty busy at that time (Sunday ~10:30) The next time I went, I had a chicken sandwich with melty mozzarella, onions and mushrooms. It was actually supposed to be a burger, but they'll do it with chicken. It was so good! Plenty of fries, and I also had a non-alcoholic Pineapple Mule, which was fizzy and refreshing and such a fun option. It's a cute vibe, and it does get busy. I normally have good experiences dining in here. This takeout order was the complete opposite. We walked in and weren't greeted for at least 5 minutes. Not just that, only 4 guests and no employees were in the entire dining room. While we stood there, multiple employees in the kitchen looked us dead in the eyes and completely ignored us. They didn't even tell a coworker we were waiting. Worst of all, the employee who took my order, presumably Hannah, didn't ask a single question. Our sandwiches came with sides, she didn't tell us which side or throw out an upgrade. I switched one to fries and one to mac and cheese. As it turns out, mac and cheese can't be added as a side, even for an upcharge. instead of letting me know that, they just deleted my free side of chips and charged me full price for mac and cheese. terrible service and the food wasn't much better. read more

Stopped by on a Friday evening for dinner, there was no wait and we were seated on the patio which was a nice choice thanks to the unbrellas, despite being 90 degrees! This is a classic brunch, lunch or dinner spot (weirdly I think I prefer dinner best even though that's not usually what you expect when you hear diner)! I guess that's why they call it Diner-bar. Anyways, I live for their side salads and ranch so catch me getting one of those to start every meal. Usually some cheesy bacon fries with sour cream too. I cannot be tamed up in here. Sometimes service is a little slow, I won't lie, so for that I'll stick to four stars. However the food comes out fresh, piping hot and never had a poor quality experience outside of a few overdone fries. That's pretty good considering I've been here about 10 times! I think it's just a matter of consistent staffing and hoping they get that figured out. Know it may be common to wait for ten min for a table to be cleared or get your drinks, but usually the food comes out snappy! I am all about their chicken meal which has a honey pecan glaze on top and served with green beans. This is a two person meal or a take home situation, but those mashed potatoes are also SO good. If you are like me and enjoy your mashed without sweet sauce, you can grab those on the side so the pecan juice doesn't drizzle on 'em. I'm a hearty vs sweet potato type of lover personally. We tried the chicken parm the last go around and it was a heck of a meal! This place may not be Italian, Greek or Irish, but they sure can do a little bit of everything! Don't be overwhelmed by the options (I know there are a lot) so if you want a sandwich get the Reuben, if you want a salad for your meal get the Greek with chicken, if you want a pita get the chicken, so good, and if you want pasta get the chicken parm. What a nice little hidden gem. My husband recommended this place, and I'm so glad he did! Super friendly staff, a fun and eclectic vibe- kinda retro decor. We had bloody mary's ($10) and pineapple mimosas ($10)with our breakfasts. I got the crab cake Benedict ($16) & he got the veggie omelet ($11). My eggs were cooked to perfection. Dinerbar has a great aura around the space for a sunday morning brunch. The decor is funky and fun, there's giant windows which let in gorgeous natural light, and the food is a on brand for a classic diner with a modern twist. I was honesty conflicted on what to order, the brunch menu here is strong. It took all the restraint I could muster to avoid the brunch cocktails which looked amazing. I ended up getting a breakfast burrito. It had eggs and cheese and chorizo and came with a side of potatoes. It was very filling after my sunday morning workout!! Great way to start the day. My friend has the most delicious looking special: it was a french toast sandwich with egg and meat and cheese inside, and came with a side of fruit. On a lovely evening recently, my wife and I dined on their open-air patio right on Clifton Boulevard. What a pleasant setting and a delicious meal! Our server set us up with drinks and we settled in waiting for our two dinner meals...to be split (as always!). I chose the fish-n-chips, she ordered the Tuscan chicken breast. The meals arrived and we dug in. The two cod fillets were thin and covered in a panko style breadcrumb, but slightly fishy. Accompanying tartar sauce had just the right amount of tang from the capers within. Their fries were thicker shoestring style and fantastic...served with malt vinegar, hot sauce and ketchup. The cole slaw was fresh, crisp and covered in a heavy creamy dressing. The Tuscan chicken breast was a massive plate of food...a garlic mashed potato base topped with stuffed (prosciutto ham, goat cheese, sun-dried tomatoes) chicken breasts and a side of steamed spinach. The sauce was tangy and combining all three plated items into one bite was quite a flavor explosion. Pricing was more than fair given the quality of food (and experience), looking forward to a return trip...maybe for brunch this time? read more

Unbelievably bad breakfast. My coffee was horrible. Vegetable omelet came with the vegetables were piled alongside the plain omelet, potatoes were half raw/half burnt. My wife had the Dinerbar Benedict and this was completely unacceptable. The eggs were hard boiled,bacon was burnt and the same half raw/ half burnt potatoes. The server took our order and never came back until he gave me the check. Not our first time here but will be the last. That cook obviously was not a experienced cook.
