I can't believe I have never left a review for The Place to Be! This has been my number one favorite breakfast spot for over 10 years! I started coming here when I moved out to Lakewood in 2014. This was always my treat after a long work week when I was working night shift but I have since come once in a while for breakfast on the weekends. I am a huge fan of their pancakes and waffles. They make excellent omelettes and their hashbrowns are always cooked to perfection. But my number one favorite menu item has to be their country fried steak. It is absolutely delicious and I always get it with sunny side up eggs and extra crispy hash browns. The staff is always friendly and warm - they make you feel like you're part of their family. This is your typical local diner and they finally take credit/debit card! My favorite fact about this restaurant is that it is a family owned and operated business and the owner is a woman who also works as a waitress! She is so lovely!

Turkey Florentine omelette with tomatoes instead of hashbrowns.

The best keto breakfast ever! I got the Turkey Florentine omelette. I asked that the turkey sausage to be switched to the pork links. No problem and no extra cost. Then I got sliced tomatoes in place of the hash browns. They were so good! I got an English muffin and only ate half which is 6 carbs. Excellent service and excellent food.

The Crazy omelette... so much I took half of it home.

My wife and I enjoy our, going out for, Sunday breakfasts and "The Place to Be " did not disappoint. If I was to say anything as a cons to the place it would be (1) that our waitress was a bit pushy ( you can't read an entire menu in a couple minutes) and (2) the coffee is like they dropped a bean of coffee in some hot water. Other than that the food is really good and nothing , bacon included, wasn't greasy.

A few things to note if you decide to try it out: there are no reservations. Seating is first come, first served, and a line forms outside in the benches. Hop in line and expect to wait about 15 minutes. Very casual and smooth! Also, they take card but would appreciate if you paid cash to cut down on credit card expenses. You get a fun treat if you do! I started my breakfast with some freshly brewed coffee that they kept topping off throughout the morning. I also get some fresh fruit and the strawberries were sooo sweet! Get the fruit, because it's a nice snack while you wait for your meal to come out. For my entrée, I ordered two buttermilk pancakes and a side of eggs scrambled with cheese and the home fries. The pancakes were fluffy and the syrup was nice and thick. I loved how the eggs came out. They were cooked perfectly with cheddar cheese. And the home fries stole my heart. How a restaurant prepares their home fries sets the tone for me anywhere. They were seasoned very well and I could tell that they are a great foundation to the entrees on the house specialties menu. I will be returning to try some of the savory dishes very soon!

We weren't really greeted as we walked in but a woman said hi as we took a seat. No one else acknowledged us and we didn't realize she worked there because she was just kind of visiting at a table. There were also two other tables being used by young children to play and nap. So, it was a little awkward... Anyway, another woman finally came out from the back and gave us menus and coffee. We had eggs, bacon, sausage, toast and blueberry pancakes. It was fine. It's really standard food that kind of just feels like you went to someone's house for breakfast... including a little burnt edge on the pancakes. I guess this is a neighborhood place but it's not super comfortable or aesthetic. It's fine.

We were aware of the large portions and decided to split everything. Ordered the German dumplings soup, corned beef on rye, and the battered onion rings. Soup came first. It was really good. Kinda like a deconstructed chicken paprikash without chicken but dumplings. It's thick. It was very good. I'd get it again. Corned beef is huge. Enough to easily split. Had to unhinge my jaw to get a bite. Moist, flavorful, tender, and generous. The onion rings are huge. Battered by hand and you get about 7. Come with 3 sauces. These are a good choice!
