Our company used Amanda Luftman as our outside counsel for all employee-related matters for over 10 years. Amanda approached every situation with knowledge and strategy. Clients BEWARE! Law firm pads their bills, instead of settling a small matter they will extend it as long as possible to bill the bell out of you until the case is upside down. We ended up having to leave them and hire another firm to clean up their mess and realize it was exaggerated billing... They make false promises and pass your work onto other staff thinking they are trying to save you money but that's their strategy. It costs us 2 x more because they can't always get it down on the first time. They'll even sue their clients for their over billing practices. Be very careful... just run away. They also pay hefty referral fees to people bringing in business. read more

I was referred to Jeremy Osher by a friend and I haven't stopped thanking that friend since. If there is a better, more attentive, more patient, more above board attorney in the city, I don't know who it could be. Having never, ever been involved in any kind of legal matter before, I nervously contacted Jeremy with tremendous reticence, preferring to cut off my own arm than bring a legal case against someone. He was insanely patient, listened to every point I made, explained in perfect detail EXACTLY what my options were, how things might go, what I was risking, and where I stood in terms of probability of winning (or losing). I was amazed by how accessible he was (never did he pass me off to an assistant or rush a conversation) and how well he vetted my side of the case (now that I've been through this, I see that not all attorneys do) before proceeding. What I appreciated is that he didn't just tell me what I wanted to hear--he told me what he thought the probability of my winning was. (When someone is really experienced and knows what they're doing you can just sense it and Jeremy predicted damn near everything that happened.) Williams come off as Sharks and promise you the world but really they are guppy fish. If you want to loose your case this is the perfect firm for you. You will be paying them a pretty penny for all talk and no action and then if things are not going right, they will talk about you to other lawyers about you, be careful who you speak too, its a small world. And on a side note, Attorney Jeremy J. Osher is a perfect example of a sleazy lawyer, as he hit on my wife and he is married with kids. Thankfully we went to another firm to get the job done. I hired this law firm, specifically Lance Williams and Amanda Luftman, to represent me during a sexual harassment and wrongful termination lawsuit that I brought against my former employer. As if that wasn't stressful and traumatizing enough to go through, when my case was settled I was assured by Lance that the money I received was tax-free because it was considered money for emotional distress. Only a small portion of the settlement was taxable because it was considered lost wages. However, I later received a letter from the IRS stating that the law firm submitted a 1099 for the entire sum of money and it was ALL considered income and therefore taxable. In addition, my former employer also submitted a 1099 to me for the entire amount of the settlement. So, the IRS now believes that I received double the amount of money I actually received. When I called the law firm for help with sorting all of this out with my previous employer, I was told by Amanda Luftman that "this is between me and the IRS and I need to get an accountant to fix it." First of all, Lance told me that the larger portion of the settlement was not going to be taxed and I believed him, so that was a lie on his part. Secondly, I received no help from the law firm when I explained to them that my former employer also submitted a 1099. They brushed it off and said they couldn't give me tax advice. Both the law firm AND my former employer cannot submit 1099's to me for the same payment and expect me to somehow have an accountant "write it off". There is some major deception going on here and no one is taking responsibility for sending me duplicate 1099's. I am still in the process of sorting this mess out with the IRS and I am looking at paying $40,000 in taxes because of Boren, Osher, Luftman. I will also be reporting what happened to the CA State Bar. If you are considering hiring this law firm, Lance Williams or Amanda Luftman, do not waste your time or sanity. It will only come back to haunt you. All they care about is taking a chunk out of your settlement payment and lying to you when it suits them. When you hire a law firm, you trust that they are on your side and will advise you correctly. They prey on people when they are vulnerable and going through a stressful situation. I certainly feel traumatized all over again so I would steer clear of them. read more
