Stopped in mid-morning and ordered a "Cachapa" - a thick, very sweet, cake made with fresh corn/masa. The half inch thick "torta" is sometimes as a thick pancake and often folded in half for serving. This one was a bit too thick to do that and, instead, covered the serving plate (see photo posted). This thick corn cake was fried to a crispy light golden brown crust with a moist and tender very sweet interior. It was topped with melted cheese (queso a mano) or white mozzarella. It also was covered with a fairly tender layer of barbecued beef plus slices of fresh avocado. Big serving - big flavor. Also grabbed a half dozen "Colombian" style empanadas (2 of each type: chicken, beef, or cheese.) Well cooked, slightly thick cornmeal crust and amply filled. These came with garlic-forward Colombian "Aji picante." Many more Latin dishes to explore on another visit. read more

Like many others, I'm trying to support local businesses during these challenging times. I ordered delivery about a month ago and got takeout the next week. I'll definitely get takeout from here again, but not delivery. The food was very good both times. My favorite was the steak arepa. Holy crap! The flavor was very intense, but in a very good way. I don't remember what cheese or sauce I ordered, just that I'll be dreaming about it for a while. The fries that came with it were also very good, even though I ordered a different side. The chorizo taco and shredded beef taco were both really good and I'd happily order them again. I won't order the arepa mamita again unless I'm eating there. It had cooled too much to be enjoyable. This was not anyone's fault, it just doesn't travel well. The service is not as good as the food, but it was still OK. I was greeted when I walked in and my questions were answered. My only real issue with the service is that my delivery order was not correct and I was missing the sweet plantains I ordered. Since they are one of my favorite foods, that was quite disappointing. Got two Arepas, one shredded beef and one chicken. Both came with a choice of three cheeses, three toppings, and a sauce. On both we got queso fresco, tomatoes, onions, black beans, and the house (garlic) sauce. The arepas themselves were absolute on point and five stars. The fries were good but cold when served to us. The server at the counter was not very friendly and did not even give me an opportunity to get a receipt, which I don't like, as you always wonder if the total charged was accurate. I checked my credit card and it was, thankfully. So I give four stars for my visit. Would have given five if the service was a little friendlier and helpful. Maybe she was having a bad day. I liked the atmosphere and the music playing and encouraging messages on the wall. As if cornbread and a yeast roll had a baby! I plan to return and sample the other menu items. It's clean and tables are appropriately distanced. A place you feel comfortable patronizing. The only thing I can really say that's critical is that portions are small, so order a lot (I didn't know, but I will for next time. There was absolutely no taste unless I soaked everything in lime. The ice machine didn't even have any ice. The service left a lot to be desired. Just acted like they didn't care. Since this pandemic started, we've tried supporting local, small places and we haven't been impressed by much. Tonight we decided to try this place for taco Tuesday and holy cow SO GOOD! We got: burrito, quesadilla, chorizo taco, al pastor taco, and yucca fries. We had originally ordered the pastelillos as well, but unfortunately they were out.
