I would rate my overall experience more of a 4.5 stars but still would highly recommend. Coming from Orlando, I had not found Puerto Rican food in the area yet. This was a lovely surprise. The restaurant is decorated well with reminders of Puerto Rico everywhere. Staff were also lively and welcoming. You order and pay at the counter and sit down to wait for your food to be brought to you. You can order a fresh made dish or pick from the variety of rices, meats, etc that they have ready to order as well. The relleno de papa was a 5/10. Just not what I'm used to in terms of flavor or texture. It tasted more like oil than the potatoes and beef I was hoping for. The mofongo was great! The garlic flavor was not overpowering and it was FILLED with shrimp not just 4-5 pieces. I look forward to making this a frequent stop during my visits to Ft. Walton.

Excellent Puertorrican restaurant. Mofongo was great. I had it with churrasco and wife had it with shrimp al ajillo. They sell quesitos and these were sooo good. Loved it!

When I say this food was delicious...I mean I cleaned my plate with no regrets! The interior is really cute and clean. From the outside it doesn't look like much but it was everything we needed to have a taste of PR!

Great value for the price. They were very generous with the meat portions. Servers were great. Food was a little bit on the saltier side.

Such a good experience at Papi's Cafe & Grill!!! Visited with someone who is close with the business owners and I'm so thankful for their recommendation! This was the first time I tried Puerto Rican food, so I asked for a suggestion and got the mofongo with fried pork and broth (pictured). So tasty!!! The pork was delicious by itself, but paired with the plantain bowl and broth it was perfect. The parking lot is quaint but it seems like plenty of spots for the business. You walk in and there's a large picture menu on the left detailing all of their options. You order and pay before you eat and they give you a number to place on your table. The staff is so friendly and they take good care of their customers. This isn't a restaurant I would typically visit on my own, but maybe I need to change my outlook because I had such a great visit here. Thanks for the good food and good vibes!!

First time here and I like it. I practiced my Spanish with the kind employees and had some great food. Mofongo is so filling to me that I couldn't even finish half of my food. They play music and I was just happy to be here and have some mofongo because it had been a while. The smells as I walked up to the building were amazing and I find the food flavorful.

I asked if they had a small they said no only large - however the next person got a small. That's a silly thing but it was odd. Otherwise I went twice to this place while I was on vacation. Puerto Rican restaurants are hard to come by so anywhere I am I go to check out the food. Everything tasted amazing and I loved it. A bit pricey but when on vacation you don't blink. I would go back again.

Empanadas are a love language! We love all of them at Papi's! And the sweet plantains - yum! Service was easy at the counter and questions answered quickly. Map didn't bring us to exact location so we drove past first time- thankfully we say the sign!

First time having Puerto Rican food and it didn't disappoint. I wish California had more Puerto Rican food available. Me and my friend checked out this place and he is Puerto Rican. Staff are very friendly and the restaurant was extremely clean. It's got plenty of places to park and eat inside. I tried out the beef empanada, and I was blown away, unlike anything I had tasted before. I decided to get the Tripeleta sandwich and I wish I could have it again. Full of flavor and left me very satisfied. YouTube recommended this place and they weren't wrong . Can't wait to visit again

I went here after running into someone from Aguadilla telling me to come here and it did not disappoint. First, There is a decent amount of parking but it'll probably gets packed during busy hours. You order at the register and they give you a number for the table and they bring your food. All the staff was really friendly and food came out in a reasonable time. Lots of good choices for everyone to have, we ended up ordering churrasco, arroz con gandules, yucca, tostones, pastelillos. Pretty much the whole menu. I had the tembleque too which was delicious as well. You can't go wrong with anything you order.

We were visiting my son, and looking for a place to eat lunch. I found Papi's on Yelp. It had great ratings so we decided to visit. There were three of us. My husband and I split a plate and my son got his own. I ordered the pork carnitas with fried plaintains, beans and white rice, and it was plenty for us to share. My son ordered the chicken, white rice and salad. He said it was delicious. The service was great, the food was amazing, the portion sizes were perfect, and they have a nice outside seating area. My only suggestion is that they need more parking. It's great being popular!!

    Shrimp steak and Arroz Mampostiado

Service with a smile. Food was awesome, its a small locally owned business and well worth the visit. I had the beans, pastelon empanada which were amazing. My husband had the shrimps and steak with rice and loved it.

Snapper filet, garlic cream with mofongo and aioli.

The Cuban sandwich was just phenomenally delicious. The pernil was well received by everyone too. The ropa vieja was great too. To be fair, there were no losing meals at that table. We could have all switched plates and enjoyed something delicious. This food is well flavored, but not spicy. That's not a flaw. That's just how the food is.

Despite having two employees standing at the front talking behind the register, the restroom had no toilet paper. When we placed our order, we were told they were out of yucca balls and that they also had no beer available. We ordered a tripleta, beef patties, and juice instead. What was most frustrating was that the customer who ordered immediately after us was able to order and receive yucca balls. We asked about the discrepancy, and the explanation we were given was that she had ordered them earlier. However, we clearly heard her place the order while standing there. A simple, honest response--such as acknowledging that there had been a misunderstanding and apologizing for serving the last order to another customer--would have gone a long way. Instead, the interaction left us feeling singled out and, honestly, racially profiled because the other customer was Hispanic. Ironically, we are Hispanic as well, which made the situation even more disappointing. To top it off, the "tripleta" sandwich was not an authentic tripleta. If the chef wants to call it a traditional tripleta, it should follow the classic preparation and the meats that make a tripleta what it is. Otherwise, it would be better to rename the sandwich rather than market it as a traditional tripleta. Anyone from Puerto Rico--or anyone who has enjoyed authentic tripletas at Puerto Rican restaurants--will immediately notice the difference and likely be disappointed. The sandwich would also benefit greatly from properly seasoning both the pork and the steak. Adding the traditional mayo-ketchup sauce would go a long way toward delivering the authentic flavor people expect from a tripleta. The beef empanadas made the one star in this review since they were decently stuffed. Just need to work better on the wrapping. I posted a pic. But at least they were made and not bought frozen. I understand that mistakes happen, but honesty, consistency, authenticity, and good customer service are what determine whether customers return. Unfortunately, this experience did not meet those expectations.

After searching via the Waze app, we looked on Google, and it's in Panama, the country! So, we're already irritated, but no worries. Havana Night came to the rescue! So much that we ate there the following evening, too. Also, we asked some locals what they preferred getting from the menu. They all went with the dinner plate, your choice of chicken, beef, or pork with two sides for $13.99-$15.99. On both visits, we went with the chicken with black rice and black beans, a staple for most Cuban restaurants. Most importantly, the service was courteous and willing to explain any dishes. Their restrooms, tables, and floors were clean, too. It is a very well-run establishment. So, do not hesitate to eat here. On a side note, we had a conversation with another guest upon returning to our hotel. We asked him what he had in his plastic bag because of the pleasant smell. He mentioned a Mexican restaurant but quickly said the same about our take-out. When the wife replied, "It's from Havana Night," he promptly gasped and replied, "Oh wow, that's wild. I had that for lunch with some co-workers here for business. We plan on going back. It's just a hole-in-the-wall place next to a gas station, but it's so good.
