During our visit to Fort Walton we decided to go to Papi's and we are so glad we did. I ordered the Surf and Turf Mofongo with skirt steak and shrimp with a side order of fried plantains. My wife ordered the Roast Pork with fried breadfruit (pana); the portions were generous. For drinks we had a Malta and Coconut water. The food was exceptional; all very well seasoned and perfectly cooked. The owner was very friendly, the restaurant was clean. The restaurant features nice art work and puertorrican decor. We'll return again next time we're in town. read more

I would rate my overall experience more of a 4.5 stars but still would highly recommend. Coming from Orlando, I had not found Puerto Rican food in the area yet. This was a lovely surprise. The restaurant is decorated well with reminders of Puerto Rico everywhere. Staff were also lively and welcoming. You order and pay at the counter and sit down to wait for your food to be brought to you. You can order a fresh made dish or pick from the variety of rices, meats, etc that they have ready to order as well. The relleno de papa was a 5/10. Just not what I'm used to in terms of flavor or texture. It tasted more like oil than the potatoes and beef I was hoping for. The mofongo was great! The garlic flavor was not overpowering and it was FILLED with shrimp not just 4-5 pieces. I look forward to making this a frequent stop during my visits to Ft. Walton. read more

Such a good experience at Papi's Cafe & Grill!!! Visited with someone who is close with the business owners and I'm so thankful for their recommendation! This was the first time I tried Puerto Rican food, so I asked for a suggestion and got the mofongo with fried pork and broth (pictured). So tasty!!! The pork was delicious by itself, but paired with the plantain bowl and broth it was perfect. The parking lot is quaint but it seems like plenty of spots for the business. You walk in and there's a large picture menu on the left detailing all of their options. You order and pay before you eat and they give you a number to place on your table. The staff is so friendly and they take good care of their customers. I asked if they had a small they said no only large - however the next person got a small. That's a silly thing but it was odd. Otherwise I went twice to this place while I was on vacation. Puerto Rican restaurants are hard to come by so anywhere I am I go to check out the food. Everything tasted amazing and I loved it. A bit pricey but when on vacation you don't blink. First time having Puerto Rican food and it didn't disappoint. I wish California had more Puerto Rican food available. Me and my friend checked out this place and he is Puerto Rican. Staff are very friendly and the restaurant was extremely clean. It's got plenty of places to park and eat inside. I tried out the beef empanada, and I was blown away, unlike anything I had tasted before. I decided to get the Tripeleta sandwich and I wish I could have it again. I went here after running into someone from Aguadilla telling me to come here and it did not disappoint. First, There is a decent amount of parking but it'll probably gets packed during busy hours. You order at the register and they give you a number for the table and they bring your food. All the staff was really friendly and food came out in a reasonable time. Lots of good choices for everyone to have, we ended up ordering churrasco, arroz con gandules, yucca, tostones, pastelillos. Pretty much the whole menu. We were visiting my son, and looking for a place to eat lunch. I found Papi's on Yelp. It had great ratings so we decided to visit. There were three of us. My husband and I split a plate and my son got his own. I ordered the pork carnitas with fried plaintains, beans and white rice, and it was plenty for us to share. My son ordered the chicken, white rice and salad. He said it was delicious. The service was great, the food was amazing, the portion sizes were perfect, and they have a nice outside seating area. This is one of the 12 Pastelles I purchased and It was the best Pastelle I have ever eaten from the area. It was amazing. The texture was just like my moms. If you want pastelle you will need to ask for one. They are usually in the back and are made to order. The come packaged in pairs and are frozen. Yelpers do it again and help me find a gem of a place. I almost felt like I was on the island of Puerto Rico. Sampled the mofongo, carne frita. Rice w/ habichuelas, pollo asado and a few other items none of which disappointed I just wish that I had more room in my stomach. You place your order cafeteria style and if it is not available when you order they bring it to your table which they have indoor and outdoor seating. No alcohol is served only sodas and water. As for the food, the only way to get more authentic and flavorful Puerto Rican food would be to go to PR and get a home cooked meal from abuela, but even then it'd be pretty close. Excellent customer service, reasonable prices, hands down some of the best food I've tasted. The wings were flavorful but cold. Mofongo was delicious but if you don't like garlic it's not for you. The music was fantastic, lots of Tito Rojas (El Gallo) songs. It felt like being in PR. Clean restrooms and it smelled good too.
