They have always had the latest and (most important to me) impeccably clean sunbeds. The newest beds are spectacular and look like they are from a spaceship; some are by Porsche Design, have Bluetooth, advanced air cooling and multi-lamp systems. It seemed so futuristic back then and they still operate all the most cutting edge tanning equipment. Uvasun was always a little more expensive than the other local tanning salons. I see on their website that they now offer to price-match salons within a 5-mile radius on comparable services except spray tans. In addition to state-of-the-art tanning beds and sunless spray tans they also have light therapy, infrared sauna therapy and body contouring with red and infrared light. It's still located in the same nice and modern building on 3rd street. Their hours are Monday to Friday 10am-8pm, Saturday & Sunday 10am-5pm.

I was pleasantly surprised that there was genuinely no catch. No pressure to put a credit card on file, no gimmicks, and no aggressive sales pitch afterward. It was my first time trying infrared therapy and overall a really nice experience. They don't take appointments for the sauna, so I called ahead and then walked in. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They quickly went over the logistics and safety information before bringing me to the room, where the temperature was already set and the light was on. They also had a robe laid out and ready. I stayed in for about 30 minutes, though I believe the maximum session is around 45 minutes. The experience was very relaxing and felt less intense than a traditional sauna. It creates more of a gradual internal heat rather than the heavy, suffocating feeling that can come with standard saunas. I'd definitely do it again. I got a solid base in 1.5 months but I imagine girls with more melanin will tan even faster. I burn very easily, and Shakira (hope I'm spelling it right) took so much time helping me understand the different beds, prices, tanning lotions, etc. She always remembers me when I go in, and makes sure i have extra towels and leave with a free cold drink. She is just the sweetest. She listens and checks in regularly, and made sure I started with extremely short sessions (2 minutes) and worked my way up. She also let me upgrade to the premium bed for free a couple times to see what it was like, and even let me try out her personal premium tan accelerator lotion that was out of budget for me. Now with my base tan I feel cuter in shorts and dresses, and I notice that I can actually walk around outside for a few minutes without immediately burning my chest and arms. Yay!

His name is Mason and you can easily contact him if you have a question or query. Mason is always going the extra mile to give his customers the newest things on the horizon, whether they are UV/Red Light/Spray Tanning related or not. For a while he had things to make my teeth look nice and whiter. Heck I've even bought cool Vintage Clothes for my girlfriend there. The things he sells in his front area are always way more reasonable than if you got them at a specialty shop further down Melrose Ave, too. Melrose Tanning Co is clean. The bulbs are fresh. The employees are always cool and relaxed. And the prices are highly reasonable. They're dog friendly, and kid friendly too. It's just a really nice local business that one hopes will last forever.
