Complete SCAM. Do not go here. I have never in my life spent more than 60 (still a LOT) on a singular tanning session. I walked into the place wanting a singular tanning session. I did the forms, the lady was nice, everything was fine. But i thought it was very strange that i didn't pay before going into the tanning bed. I naively thought that they had forgotten and i was gonna just let them know that when i came out. So when I come out of the tanning session i go and pay and she says the total is $130 !!!! 25 dollars for a little lotion, and 109 dollars for a SINGLE tan. that is outrageously more expensive than it normally is anywhere else, so why on earth wouldnt you tell your customer that a single tanning session is 109 dollars before putting them into the bed. completely outrageous. SCAM. I have never wrote a yelp review in my life, but this was so slimy and wrong that i had to. GO ANYWHERE ELSE. IT IS THE SAME SERVICE FOR A QUARTER OF THE PRICE. read more

This is my first time here at Portofino's, it was an amazing experience having their Swedish massage. I usually have a hard time with massages because I'm so ticklish and I can't relax. The masseuse there was so professional and was able to help me relax so that I could enjoy my massage. Super clean facility and really cool modern looking boutique. If I could give 0 stars i would. To start when I called and made the appointment I asked the woman on the phone to give me the price, and she just blatantly ignored my question. She described their, exfoliating experience completely wrong, and I had no idea what I was in for. when I arrived to the spa, I had to ask the price which ended up being $400 in total. The exfoliation was pointless. I then started crying to the staff saying i could not afford to spend this much and they did not compensate anything. When I went to the register my bill was still the same. I felt the staff judging me. I told them multiple times that I could not afford the price and they told me no matter what I had to pay. It was a very judgmental experience, and I do not recommend if you want to not be broke. read more

This place is the place to go for the best spray tan in town. They are very proficient in their technique and take a lot of pride in making sure that your tan is even and to your liking. They also make you feel super comfortable while you're splayed naked in front of them. They are sweet girls who are great at chatting you up and making you feel like you're just hanging with a friend... who is misting your boobs. I also left a necklace there once and it was waiting for me in an envelope the next time I came in. I didn't even know I had lost it. That was really a nice surprise! read more

There is no other tanning salon in LA. Or at least there does not need to be. This tan is customized beyond anyones actual need probably UNLESS you are detail oriented and in the beauty biz/on camera etc. I go fully down that train. I get a scrub here then a base spray then my personal shade they have had in file here for years. I can't remember if I've written this place a review or not, I promote it on my own businesses story on Instagram- But I was going to call today for an appointment and saw that someone left a review saying they're tan with splotchy. Which is impossible. I am the worst. I wear tight clothing afterwards I carry a backpack or I have a purse I put on a bra I shower too soon I don't shower soon enough. Whatever I do it's always perfect. You can even get like this glow powder in there. The owner is hands-on and the staff is super sweet and always eager to help. They have gone out of their way for me more times than I can count. I LOVE this place. You are not taking a risk coming here before a big event. I guess that's the best possible tip you could get from this!!!! read more

My friend introduced me to Portofino Sun Spa and this is THE place to get your tan on! I usually tan first and then get airbrushed afterwards. Their stand-up bed worked well, then I moved on to meet Jennifer Birmingham, who was my "body bronzing specialist". She created the perfect color of "did you just get back from Jamaica?" tan for me. I love how they have scents so you can smell beachy (or whatever fragrance you want as they have tons to choose from) instead of smelling like you've just been out spray tanning. I can't remember if this costs more or not because I bought a package. I know that I did chip in the extra money to have the pre-coat first which is supposed to make your tan last longer. I haven't tried it without this to be sure if it is worth it or not. It was a pleasant experience. The only thing that would make this place even more perfect would be free parking nearby. On a hot summer day, you might not want to have to go sweat off your airbrush tan while trekking to your car. In all fairness, there were plenty of metered parking spots in a parking type structure area available somewhat nearby when I went. However, make sure you feed the meters AND watch the clock. The cops around there are ON IT and I got a parking ticket. It's as if they were sitting there waiting for the exact second my meter was going to run out. Argh! read more

Seriously a joke. I understand the concept of inflating prices in especially affluent areas. Thus, when I decided to pop into Portofino after a Botox appointment, I certainly wasn't expecting a bargain. Nor was I expecting tanning sessions to run twice as high as general market value in major cities! I thought she was joking when she told me the bed I selected was 100 bucks a session. Ridiculous. Lady, I have google. I'm well aware how much this bed should cost in LA. Nooo thank you. I politely told her that I was uninterested in grabbing up one of their 1500 dollar tanning packages, and that I would wait until I got back to my own neighborhood where I could use the same bed for 40 or 50 dollars...to which she rolled her eyes. It's funny how people's tunes change when they lose a sale. The spa itself is very nicely appointed. They also carry a good selection of bikinis and accessories. Didn't check any prices, but I'm sure they too were outrageously overpriced. Bottom line is that if you have a bank account with at least 8 figures in it...you'll probably love this place. If not, don't bother wasting your time. You're paying for the location and some fancy wallpaper. Better off going somewhere in the valley. read more

The staff was extremely friendly and know exactly how to custom-blend formulas so you come out looking great! Because most of the options are a la carte the total cost for one air brush tan is often over $100. However, it's worth it for special occasions! I consider myself somewhat of a spray-tan connoisseur. So when a Groupon came out offering a DISCOUNTED spray tan for $59 (yes, ONE tan), I nearly scoffed. Until I visited the place. Thank God I bought that Groupon - Portofino is immaculate, and their custom spray tan experience is like nothing else. They started me with a moisture coating to help the spray stick; then followed up with a scented tan layer (grapefruit guava - and yes, there are over 20 scents to choose from) meticulously applied. Next step was a second layer of tan for contouring and tan-line removal - and then a final layer of shimmer across the shoulders, thighs, and collarbones. I literally walked out there looking like a movie star - and smelling like fresh fruit. It was amazing. Add to this the fact that the place is also an amazing swimwear and jewelry boutique and you've got yourself some one-stop vacation shopping - in the heart of the Montana shopping district. If you can afford it, make Portofino your final stop before your next tropical vacay. You will have absolutely no regrets. read more

I would not recommend this tanning facility. I work in Beverly Hills and wanted to go somewhere close to my office. I had read mixed reviews but gave them a chance as i needed a last min spray and my salon was booked.... To be brutally honest: As per previous commenters: Yes, the receptionist is cold, bratty, and out of line with her comments. Felt like you had to grab a number to audition for a spray tan. The good: the rooms are lovely. The woman who gave me the tan, was incredibly sweet and gracious. The bad: (I won't include the fact that it's pricey, because I've had great spray tans at that price and it can be worth it) However, they push additional products as if it were a cheap car sales lot....its uncomfortable, and let me tell you it's not worth it. The outcome: within a couple of hours, after the expensive add ons (well over $100 at this point .... you know the stuff they told me I needed) the color sets in..... And I looked as if I I was either trying to camouflage in the desert, or I had a terrible skin disorder. To be fair: I called and explained. I came back in and showed them the terrible color state my skin was in and they gave me a touch up for free. My tan looked much better at that point. The overall result: the color was better , but as it faded, the camouflage set back in.... Tiny spots, splotches, uneven, it looked as if I had dark freckle spots and areas that were completely different colors. I had to wear long sleeves and pants until it eventually came off. In sum: this experience was not good. I appreciate the airbrush artists and room facilities. The rest is not only bad, but is a huge waste of time and money. read more

Let me start off by saying that words will not do this spa any justice. I have been to SEVERAL spas and airbrush tanning locations in the area and no one compares to the level of luxury that I received at Portofino Beverly Hills! The entire spa and store is pristine clean with bright white fixtures and lounge areas, the store front always has exciting new retail finds for me to browse while I wait for my service (which btw is never long!) the comforting peaceful aroma of candles and and lotions fill the air and the staff is of the utmost accommodating. Portofino's commitment to excellence is more than apparent and their service technicians are beyond talented! My airbrush spray has never lasted so long, or gone on so even and smooth! Sarah at the front desk recommended the proper services and products for me, without making me feel pressured or obligated and walked me through the facility on a private tour so I was familiar with the rooms and services BEFORE I booked my appointment. I got my pre tan body scrub from Ali and it was the best I have ever had!! EVER! My skin felt so smooth and radiant, and when she was finished she wrapped me in a plush, lavish spa robe with slippers in my size and brought me water while I waited for Michelle to spray me with my custom color airbrush tan. I will admit, it was hard for me to decide what enhancements I wanted but Michelle helped guide me through my selection and recommended the perfect blend of scent and shimmer to make my tan look it's lushest best!
