Fries with feta and hot sauce

Had a great dinner the other night- the ambience is roomy and nice with comfy booths and tables. We were given pita and cucumber yogurt sauce as soon as we were seated. we had the Esfenaj pie which were little spinach and feta in phyllo- fried to perfection! We also got side order of fries - we did order without hot sauce but unfortunately came with it which they charged for . but it was also a very generous portion and very tasty and crispy. I ordered the stew- which was priced reasonably but you have to order rice separately ! The rice with saffron was very good and generous portion. We also got the kobideh kabob which is ground beef cooked on a skewer. The beef in both dishes were different but so tender and flavorful! Chicken kabob also was seasoned and cooked to perfection ! The server was very friendly and energetic and happy which made the whole meal a little more enjoyable although we were charged for things we did not get or want - I still all in all liked the meal and will go back!

Got the combination for 2 people with 4 skewers of Persian kabobs, with saffron basmati rice, charred tomato, warm bread, and yogurt cucumber sauce, hummus, and an eggplant dip. The kobideh and steak was my favorite but it was all really good, massive portions and authentic. The service was friendly and fast. Was going to DC for Persian food before and it's nice to have a new place so nearby and convenient!

Ambiance is very well done considering the size of the space, nicely thought out bathrooms. It is like the Columbia location but with a more upscale vibe. Service with a smile and knowledgeable. Food is always on point, like the Columbia location. I did my favorite Baba ghanoush with warm and seasoned pita and stuffed grape leaves, to go. Because I just came from Common Kitchen and I'm nearly stuffed. But driving by as usual, hoping to catch a glimmer of life inside and low and behold they just opened after a very long time getting permits from Howard county. Boro is now too close to home for me not to be a regular!!!! Going back on Monday!!! Was too excited and talking to the owner and forgot pictures, which is coming soon.

The lentil soup was not blended (as it should be) and had little to no salt. The shawarma platter (which I thought would be an actual platter not a sandwich with sides), was alright. We then got Syrian black tea with mint, which was decent and like a warm hug. I appreciate that they packed the teabags themselves. Finally, we got a piece of harissa on our way out and it was decent (just a little too cold for my liking). Our waitress was nice and attentive. The ambiance is cute. It was getting really busy too when we were leaving so I'd recommend making reservations. Overall, I think the place really caters to Americans and not people from the region.

We've been there twice & particularly loved their rooftop seating area. Food can be a miss, depending on what you order, so I recommend only the dishes with good reviews on Yelp. I do recommend their pastries though - they looked too good with Mabrousht being my favorite. Parking is available in Public lots - you pick a lot on Google Maps, park there for free & walk for about 10 minutes or so to reach the restaurant. Not bad right? :)

All I can say is WOW. My dining partner and I had such an amazing experience here. First of all,…read morethe restaurant is gorgeous inside. We had an earlier dinner reservation so it wasn't as crowded at the beginning but was quite busy at the end. We tried a couple different cocktails and I loved both of mine - Ashta Affair and Asfar So Good. The Ashta Affair was sweet and creamy and the Asfar So Good was deliciously refreshing. My friend really enjoyed his Old Fashioned Date and had a fun experience trying the El Massaya Arak. For appetizers, we ordered Muhamara and Mousakhan Chicken Rolls. The Muhamara came with pita and was such a great dip. The chicken rolls were equally as good with their own sumac labneh dip we enjoyed. For entrees, we shared the Braised Lamb Shank and Makloubeh. The portions were large and the meat was tender. Neither were over seasoned and were absolutely delicious. We couldn't finish it all and saved the rest for leftovers - yum! We wanted to try their dessert and ending up getting the Ashta Bil Asal and Ruz Bil Karaz. The Ashta Bil Asal had cotton candy which made it a fun dessert to try and the Ruz Bil Karaz had a great caramelization coating. Neither were overly sweet which we preferred. It was such a great ending to our meal. I absolutely loved my experience here. Our server, Miriam, was friendly and attentive. We even chatted with the GM, Iman, who also made sure we were provided a great first experience. I cannot recommend this place enough for anyone who's looking for a boujee but amazing time!

We started with Arabic coffee and the Harra Wala cocktail--both were really good. The coffee was strong and flavorful, and the cocktail was unique and refreshing. For food, we ordered batata harra, beetroot hadiqa, lentil soup, saffron pita pie, and saffron rice. Everything was solid, but the saffron pita pie and batata harra were probably my favorites. The lentil soup was super comforting too. For dessert, we got the raspberry sorbet and baklava--perfect way to end the meal. The sorbet was light and refreshing, and the baklava was sweet and flaky. Service was great. Our server made sure we enjoyed our meal and was available to explain the menu options and checking on time to time if we need anything. Overall, a great experience. I'd definitely go back!

Abu Shawarma - Compact tray filled with more than a meal's worth of beef shawarma, fries, tahini sauce, pickle slices

Of course we go during the weekday 11-3 lunch special for a couple dollars off the combos, and even though the falafel isn't listed in the special, the staff kindly gave us the discount! The falafel was hot and flavorful, moist inside with a thin crispy outer layer, in a delicious grilled flatbread roll, with some chopped veggies and sauce inside. We asked for and received extra tahini sauce, which is the right way to get this sandwich. We also got a flavorful beef shawarma, which i have reviewed before. The sandwiches took about 15 minutes because they prepare them fresh. The combos come with piping-hot boardwalk-style fries, this time in an old-school small paper bag. We did notice that a number of people call in their order ahead of time, which would save you the wait. This time for a beverage we got the yogurt drink called Ar-yan, self serve from their beverage cooler: slightly tart and slightly salty. That's a nice beverage with this sandwich. We ordered a Turkish coffee after lunch. It was brewed and delivered in a small traditional hammered-copper "chez-ve" cezve pot heated in a tray of sand. The flavor was lovely. It was not as strong as we expected. It did not seem to have grounds in it, but I dont know if it was the way it was prepared or the way we poured it. It was served with paper cups, and would've been nice in ceramic or glass. And we added a fresh sweet chunky pistachio baklava. A yummy not-overly-honeyed treat. The restaurant has plenty of seating, including some out front, and a cushioned sofa near the coffee and pastries. There's plenty of parking in a lot that is shared with the laundromat next-door. There's two disabled spots at the north end of the lot with a ramp up to the restaurant level. You enter the lot from the westbound lanes of US-40 Baltimore National Pike, between Rogers Av and US-29. Abu Shawarma serves delicious food in a bright clean welcoming space. Order ahead for a shorter wait.
