A nice little park off the main road with some nice views of the hills/canyons. There's a tiny trail that you can take your dog on past the grass field. Maybe less than 1/2 a mile round trip though. Wouldn't drive here just for the park...but if you're in the area, there are some nice views for pictures or just enjoying the scenic vibes.

Looking out into the hills and down into the canyon.

I love this park! Quaint, small, and beautiful! The park is located at the end of a neighborhood in Foothill Ranch and, on a clear day, has spectacular views of Orange County, the Pacific Ocean, and Catalina. The sunsets from here are gorgeous. Some of my favorite, non-beach sunsets. The park has charcoal BBQs (although almost no one uses them), picnic tables, play equipment, and a large field. The play equipment hasn't been updated in the last 20 years or so and doesn't have any swings, but still had some cute slides. It's more common to see locals here walking their dogs and games of soccer or football. Very quiet park. No restrooms here and street parking can be a bit limited as the residents often park on the street area immediately surrounding the park. The park has access to the Whiting Ranch Wilderness Park via the Borrego Trail, which, if you turn right when getting down into the canyon, leads you to a system of gorgeous trails!

Located in Foothill Ranch / Lake Forest.. The park is ideal for kids and pets... grassy area, playground equipments, and shaded picnic area provide hours of fun and relaxation. The panoramic view of the canyon is gorgeous! To SEE more of the CANYON and its natural beauty...hike several miles to an area marked "Red Rock Canyon". The dirt and sandy path leads to one of the most amazing Utah-like red rock formations in Orange County! The climb is challenging as there are occasional falling rocks and debris. Wear appropriate footwear, eyewear (to protect your eyes from the falling debris), and hand wear. Awesome hike! Adrenaline-filled climb! Amazing view!

This is a small park with a great panoramic view of Borrego Canyon. The park itself offers great round bench area that would be great for reading as well as a playground for the kids, several small bbq pits and a direct trail leading down to Borrego Canyon. This is a great spot for photos and small family bbq's and is located right at the corner of a culdesac. Very quiet, very quaint and offers great views.

Beware of parking at the adjacent parking lots because they are pretty strict about not parking there for hikers. There are a variety of trails at differing difficulty levels and there are select trails that are multi-use where cycling is allowed. We went on the Borrego Canyon Trail and the Red Rock Canyon trail that was a total of two miles one way. There was some shade from the tall trees but some parts were in direct sunlight. There was a good amount of flat land and didn't have too much of an incline. When you get to an intersection with multiple directions just keep going straight and follow the signs for Red Rock Canyon. You will know when you're at the end when you see signs and rocks all around you. The red rocks really reminded me of the hikes that I went to in Arizona and it was cool to see that in California. Overall it took about one hour one way to get from the parking lot through Borrego Canyon Trail and to the end of Red Rock Canyon. Overall it was an easy and enjoyable hike.

We did the serrano road and line shack loop, which was about 3.4 miles total. We arrived at around 8am, and spent about 1.5 hours on the hike, walking a moderate pace. I really liked that how this trail was easily marked and flat. There was also plenty of shade, on the trail, so even as the sun came up, it was still pretty cool. There's some elevation on the trail, but overall, I'd say it was pretty easy to causally walk and talk. When you get to the peak of the trail, you can oversee the Foothill Ranch area, and it looks gorgeous! We followed the parking instructions on AllTrails, which led us to a church parking lot, which connects right to the trail. I did see that this park has other more difficult hikes, so I'd definitely go back for another one!

When we arrived around 8:30 on a Saturday morning, the paid parking lot was already full. There are very few parking spaces overall in the paid $3 lot. We ended up as Ralph's customers that morning and found a couple of last-minute items that we needed before starting our hike. It was a nice and cool morning with a slight breeze, which was perfect to kick off our hike. We opted to take the easy trail, Borrego Canyon Trail. There is a lot of soft sand through out parts of the trail, similar to a beach like sensation for your walking pleasure. It also felt like a magical forest during some areas with trickling streams. We also experienced some parts full of various sized rocks. This is NOT a child- friendly trail for little ones. As we approached parts that were more desert like, we got closer to the red rocks. There was much anticipation to the end and the trail concludes with what feels like a small dead end as you gaze into the view of the towering red rocks. Going downhill was much quicker and fun. It was an easy trail with some sections that forced me to go slower as I didn't want to slip on some small rocks. There was so much positivity coming from other hikers and bicyclists. So many good mornings shared, it was contagious. Bicyclists are one-way so they are only coming from behind you and so many were thankful for us moving out of their way. I've never experienced such polite and friendly trail enthusiasts. I'd love to return to experience this beautiful trail again.

This last time we went, was a nice day, sort of gloomy but still bright for great photos. Borrego park is adjacent to an elementary school and shares a parking lot with Foothill Ranch Library. The shaded playground is right at the entrance of the park with restrooms immediately next to it. The park has a large open green space for sports and we often see soccer practices here of all ages. There is a track around the green which people use for walking or kids riding their scooters and bikes. Around the perimeter you'll find benches and tables for gatherings. The tables towards the front are in good shape, the tables towards the back seem to be new/newer. There is a basketball court at the back end. It looks to have been recently painted. Off to the side of the court are more tables. All of them have holes for umbrellas. In this area, you will find painted rocks in memory of, Blaze. He was a young man that unfortunately lost his life due to a disgusting human. It's quiet here and I like to sit at these back tables. This is a fairly popular park because of its proximity to Foothill Ranch Elementary School, as well as the Foothill Ranch Public Library. It's often crowded during the week but not too crowded in the off-season for soccer. There are shaded benches and tables all around to enjoy a picnic or other outing. Spring and summer days here can be particularly beautiful. Five stars.
