Area a bit rough but pretty much your everyday common fish fry place in Detroit. Fish seemed solid and fresh. I came here with someone who ordered Catfish nuggets and half pound of jumbo shrimp. Will try to add pic whn food done. Like most other spots like this (Fresh Fish House, etc.) they sell bags of clams, hush puppies, fries and onion rings etc. Catfish nuggets were solid but nothing special. Jumbo fried shrimp stood out. Good batter and shrimp seemed quality compared to other places Ive been to. My mom enjoyed the jalapeno hush puppies. I love going to this place when I'm in a hurry because you can walk in the door literally pick out your fish on the ice they will scale it and fry it pack it in a bag and 15 minutes later you are out of the door with fresh fish for $5. Yes I said $5 fish sandwich Friday. They are right across from University of Detroit so it's easy to find. I love the fact that they use trumploi on their side wall so you can see the sea. They stock everything that you need to fry your fish from peanut oil to all sorts of breadings and spices on the racks that line the wall. They have fresh fish everyday. I love coming here for the red snapper and also occasionally I will get grouper. They have nice tuna steaks Frozen and as well they carry jumbo scampi and langostinos for those looking to make gumbo You can get all sorts of shellfish and even lobster tails. If you are looking for EXCELLENT FISH, this is your place. I was amazed at the selection, it's quality and definitely the price. Most places, you have to tell them how to cook your fish only to find it bland. NOT HERE. I ordered pickerel, or as some would call it walleye for $10.99 a pound.. I could have purchased a whole walleye for $5.99 a pound but I would have been eating fish till next year. My fish was fried in cornmeal, was crunchy on the outside, moist on the inside, and unlike the other You Buy We Fry places, not greasy. I could spend several minutes describing the shrimp but I won't to tease you. The only downfall is the wait, as this restaurant is extremely busy, but don't let that stop you. read more

Whoa. What happened to Boscos? Had the white bass and "jumbo" shrimp combo. The only thing jumbo was the word. These shrimp were so small they are a joke. But the taste was the thing. Both the fish and the shrimp just were not up to the usual standard. They need to fix this,quick. read more

Preparation is scary, you can't see whether they washed hands before cooking. Nonetheless, I called an order well in advance, gave them more time than necessary to have it ready for pickup. Guess what, I get there and there's a long line, I'm thinking YEAH! I love this place! Be prepared for the wait, because it is always packed, which speaks to the quality & taste of the food prepared here.(Wait is about 30 minutes from start to finish.) The also have cakes which are equally tasty, we had a slice of Red Velvet & a slice of the Caramel cake. They carry a vast array of fresh water and ocean fish. My husband recommended this place for a really good fish dinner. We placed our order and sat down for a bit. Immediately, things turned ugly. The young man behind the counter asked a customer if she wanted her shrimp scampi fried. She responded, as I would have, that scampi is not fried, it is prepared as its name indicates - scampi! She asked that it simply be taken off her of order so as not to make it incorrectly. The young man behind the cash register immediately got upset. He started to yell in Arabic about something. My order was ready. Instead of checking it before I left, I went home as I had an exhausting day. Only to find out that my order was incorrectly made. I called Boscos to inform them of this and was rudely told that the incorrect order is what I had ordered. Can you believe this? This young man is telling me what I know came out of my own mouth! I was furious. I returned the order. I have no intentions on going back to this place. They do not know how to treat customers and apparently believe that they are the only fish market in the business. Soon, with this type of behavior, they will not last much longer.
