Haz made a recommendation to me based on what I had a taste for. He explained that they had actual catfish, not swai as some shops provide. Catfish is my favorite fish so I was pleasantly surprised to learn this. After placing my order, I was offered complimentary tea while I waited, it was delicious. Once my order was ready, Haz brought my attention to the array of desserts that they offered. I saw they had several from Awafi Cafe and opted to buy the Strawberry Cake. He provided me with a copy of the menu for future ordering when giving me my order. Once I got home and settled in to eat, everything was fresh and hot. I ended up phoning there to let them know how much I enjoyed my meal and that I would be back. This is a second location for them that opened a few months ago. I see them being around for a long time.

The booth benches feel as if you're both sinking in and hanging off the edge at the same time. The Motown themed decor and piano doesn't quite make up for it but does give it a somewhat vintage feel. We went in on a hot summer day and the air conditioning seemed to not be on. The service began with room temperature tap water with no ice and our server running down a list of things that were not available that day. Also, clarifying that they do not accommodate any special requests or any changes or substitutions on menu items -- "our menu is what it is." The food was slow to come from the kitchen and tasted mediocre. The rolls were unimpressive and straight out of a package. The fried oyster appetizer was nicely presented but small in portion for the price ($15 for four small oysters). The steak bites and salads were decent. The only saving grace is the live music. There is a pianist and vocalist offering a nice rendition of all the famous Motown tunes that will make you want to sing along. I'll have to say that based on my experience here I wouldn't recommend it and I probably won't be visiting again.

The fish tasted delicious and well seasoned, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. There were large pieces as well. It reminded me of my first visit to Mr Fish which was a good experience. It's just a shame that portion sizes have decreased. I would prefer to buy fish by the piece or pound rather than a small dinner entree. Because of the excellent catering experience, I will give Mr Fish another chance.

Instead of a light, crispy fry, it felt heavy and unpleasant. The seasoning was also lacking, it didn't do anything to make up for the bland taste. I had high hopes based on how busy the place seemed, but the experience left me underwhelmed. I won't be returning.
