We took one of our favorite knives to Bo Sharpens as the tip was broken off. He not only fixed the tip of the knife, but also put a razor sharp edge back on the knife. Bo is a true craftsman. You'll need to make an appointment and travel to his home, but he will meet you at the curb, and time permitting, will offer same-day sharpening services. I bought a nice set of German knives about two years ago. I use them almost every day, and I'd recently noticed that they weren't performing like they used to. I know you're supposed to get them sharpened more regularly, but I just haven't gotten to it - mostly because I didn't have a regular place to take them. I'm happy to say that now I DO have that dependable, trustworthy craftsman on whom I can count to keep my kitchen tools in proper working order! Bo was quick, cordial, and knowledgable, and I'm very happy with the results. He'll pick up at your house for a small fee, but he's also very easily accessible on Balboa Island.
