Went with my girlfriend to try Turkish food for the first time. This place is small and the owner/chef Melih is a warm and wonderful man. We loved the food. We had the Sultans Platter and it was great. Even tried his Baklava which was lightly sweet and flaky. But even more than this, we loved the genuine warmth that Melih showed us. Stumbled upon this place after a discussion with my Turkish girlfriend on authentic restaurants. When we came in, we were greeted by the owner, who is a very loving and wonderful gent. The two of them opened up a conversation in Turkish and then started to share stories with the table, which was a wonderful experience :) The owner gave us recommendation on food and portions. My family and I went there just because it was close and had vegetarian options. I have to say that it was a wonderful experience. The food was excellent. I had the vegetarian plate (I'm not vegetarian but was feeling adventurous) and I loved it. My son who is a very picky eater had the gyro plate and also enjoyed it. What a wonderful small dining establishment. Treated ourselves after a stressful medical appointment. The owner had prepared a wonderful special that day to celebrate a relative coming for a visit, so we truly were treated like family! It wasn't just us, he customized a lunch for another couple. The food was delicious, meat seasoned and grilled perfectly, with rice, salad and fresh bread. You know that meal that you keep nibbling on even though you're full. After a rough day, my husband and I stumbled upon this hidden gem, and what a gem it was! We were starving, and ordered the Sultan's platter for 2. I could weep, it was so good! The tender meat, the warm Pide bread, the delicious garlicky yogurt sauce, and a Turkish coffee were all incredible, both value-wise and flavor. OMG I am so excited this place opened in Englewood! We always have to drive up to Jerusalem restaurant to get our Mediterranean fix but no longer! Bosphorus honestly puts jerusalem's falafel to shame (much more soft and lightly fried vs jerusalem's way too thick and over fried). My only critiques would be to make a thicker tzatziki sauce, thicker and easier to split pita bread; and more walnuts in the baklava would make it even better!
