I"ve eaten at both Boston Beanery locations in Morgantown over the years. It's pretty much geared for a college town and in fact represents an "upscale" kind of dining experience for most college students. You'll note that you'll see a lot of parents taking there starving college kid there for a treat - it's way better than what he has been eating. I've done it myself! And you know, it's not bad! It has the vibe of a Houlihans or a Chili's in a way. But I think the food options and quality are a bit better here. I kinda like it! And my visit this past weekend during student move in days was pretty good! And the $2 Yuengling pints isn't a bad way to welcome everyone back to school! read more

Food is negatively correlated to each visit I make. A home style meatloaf was added to the menu a while back and I LOVED it. It was fresh, made with a nice mix of different meats. Nice light-colored gravy. Sooo good. My boyfriend and I stopped in some time back, and we both ordered the meatloaf (now a permanent part of the menu. Featuring a dazzling picture of a moist, thick piece of loaf, drizzled in gravy. I was pumped. The waitress brought us out a TV dinner Salisbury steak and seemed shocked that I was shocked. I suffered through since she was nice. But omg. That was awful. And pretty blatant false advertisement seeing as the plate brought out to me was an entirely different entree than what was pictured. ****************^^^****^^^^********************* I really really really want to give this place five stars. The food is awesome. (Lobster Bisque!!) The staff is consistently awful when it comes to being welcoming and attentive. Which makes the meal usually last 1 hour plus. Please help! Somebody please let me know what has happened to the Beanery. I used to go to the one that was on High St. downtown (no longer there) and it always had a crowd and have been to the one on Patteson enough times but it has been terrible and am afraid to say I don't think I'll be back. The service was lacking as were the available meal options as I was told they were out of various items. Are they on the verge of collapse and closing??? I am not kidding, this place was exceptional tonight!! The wait staff was really awesome (and really cute), we were seated immediately (and it was pretty much packed), and the food was served hot and quickly. I was thinking I wanted a sandwich, but I decided on a small pepperoni pizza instead. IT WAS AWESOME!!! It was the best pizza I have ever had. I just ordered a small since I figured the pizza would be just okay. I'm sad I don't have much for leftovers. I got a blackberry lemonade and it too was delicious. I got a small garden salad and it was loaded with other stuff instead of just lettuce. The ranch dressing is yummy too. My husband ordered a philly cheese steak and he too really enjoyed it. I would whole-heartedly recommend this place to all. You can't smoke inside, but there is a place outside designated for those that do with a space heater for when it is cold. I look forward to coming here again just for the pizza. read more

This restaurant used to be one of my wife's and my favorite restaurants in Morgantown. Since they changed from the Boston Beanery to the Beanery American Grill, the quality has gone down with every subsequent visit. Today, I ordered the Southwest Chicken Wrap, which I got on my last visit. Unfortunately, it wasn't as good as last time. The sandwich wasn't near as flavorful as the last time and the chicken didn't seem to have any seasoning. The fries were much greasier than in the past. My wife ordered the Creamed Chicken and Biscuits. What arrived was anything but. The dish consisted of a couple of biscuits with grilled chicken and then what appeared to be creamed chicken. There were chunks of chicken in the gravy so the addition of the grilled chicken didn't make sense. The dish was covered in some undiscernable item that looked like oyster crackers. They might have been small dumpling but it was difficult to tell. They had a sour almost cheesy flavor and the texture was very soft. On the bright side, the waitress was excellent overall and even took my wife's meal off the check because she didn't finish it. I don't think we'll be going back to this location. read more

We went this evening and my turkey, bacon cheddar sandwich had ham on it instead of turkey. I showed this to the waitress and did not receive an apology and the sandwich was not taken off the bill. I got wings, to go, and when we got them home my son said that they were burnt and inedible. I tried to call the restaurant and nobody answered the phone even though they were still open. I've spent a lot of time (and $$s) at both Boston Beanery locations in Morgantown over the years. Recently went here for lunch while visiting family and was reminded that they do bar food pretty darned well here. They have a very tasty Chicken Sandwich with pepperjack & bacon and a flavorful coleslaw. The curly fries or the onion rings have always been a huge hit with my dining companions. The menu has typical salads and sandwiches, burgers, etc. that one would expect in a college town and the restaurant itself is cute and comfortable in a TGI Friday's kind of way. I laughed when I saw the $2 Yuengling Draft sign to welcome the students, and their parents who were obviously buying, back to WVU on move in day. Yuengling wasn't available in Morgantown, much to the dismay of our youngest daughter, during her years at WVU. They've obviously come a long way! She and her friends or entourage of sorority sisters used to hit my wallet in this restaurant pretty hard for mixed drinks and food when I visited Morgantown in years past. Their prices are actually very reasonable on a per person basis and it was a great way to get to know all my daughter's friends, so totally worth it! They aren't shy with portions in this place either. They are feeding starving college students, after all. read more

Great food great big beers BLACK Mothman IPA paired with the Monte Cristo sandwich delicious super reasonably priced. Our server Taylor was fantastic. She was super attentive friendly had great recommendations. My only regret is in my son's 4 years at WVU I waited till graduation day to try this place. Alex the manager was great also was very appreciative of our visit. My wife had a Moscow Mule and the grilled chicken sandwich she loved it. They have a great deck area we sat inside. Servers like Taylor what's the Fantastic service great food great atmosphere great drinks exceptional value you can't go wrong. Pros: Boston beanery's Pizza is the best kept secret in Morgantown. Don't miss it! Good selection of beers on the cheap. The atmosphere is always alive. Fun place to eat. Cons: Appetizers are not great. Avoid the boneless wings. Disappointing pressed meat. Fried mozzarella taste like freezer food. The queso is pretty great, but the chips were grease-soaked. read more

What can I say....? I really enjoyed this place! The waitress here was on her game and she regularly checked up on us to ensure that everything was alright with the food. I got their Bean Sandwich and was very impressed. I have never had Boston Beans on a grilled cheese sandwich with bacon on it, but it was delicious and pleasantly satisfying. If you ask me, it had the perfect portion size and the prices were very reasonable. I had the Caesar salad and it was the only thing that could have been improved. It was not spectacular by any means. It could have used a more impressive Caesar dressing. The wings here were pretty tasty too. Not the best but definitely far above average. Was in town Sunday visiting a friend and decided to check out 'the beanery' again. (I had gone many years ago.) The food was really tasty. I had the chicken philly (a favorite of mine) and it didn't disappoint. The beanery fries are great. I started with a bowl of the potato soup - also yummy. The service was really good for me. My drink was never empty (which is HUGE). My guest's coffee though was frequently empty. Two environmental items: 1) Seating is tight, very, very tight. When I arrived the restaurant was full and a bit uncomfortable. As it thinned out, the tightness wasn't as big of an issue. 2) the wifi password provided by our server didn't work I enjoy dining at local establishments, so I'll go again the next time I'm in town. read more

This is my favorite Beanery location. The staff is always friendly, the food is always great and service is prompt. TRY THE FRIES!!

All-in-all, the pros definitely outweigh the cons. It's convenient to Mountaineer Stadium, and there's usually room to park after a game. The wait staff is always super friendly and responsive here. The cheese fries (with bacon) are good, but the lobster bisque is not. It's nice that the side salad isn't just lettuce...it has cheese, cucumbers, tomatoes, and other goodies. The boneless chicken wings have a sauce on them, but only a little bit. Most of the flavor is in the breading. read more

Always have had great experiences at all of the morgantown locations! My favorites include the Reuben, White Pizza, and my go-to the crispy chicken salad which is a large garden salad with fried chicken breast and curly fries with a breadstick. I love Boston Beanery! The menu has a lot of variety. Great apps (I love the cheese fries & crab dip), soups (lobster bisque is to die for), sandwiches, pizza, and dinner-style entrees. Everything I've had here has been delicious. There is also a nice bar selection. They frequently offer good deals, such as cheap wings on Mondays and discounted shots. Food here is terrible. The onion soup was so salty it was making me so thirsty. The salad was served with wilted leaves. My dads wings were obviously microwaved Tyson chicken wings that were soft and spongy. I had a lemonade to drink that tasted like water with a splash of lemon in it. This place is no longer boston beanery... it's now an American grill and is horrible. The food and service both are horrible. We had been hearing people say that everything was bad since 'the change' happened but we just couldn't believe that the one place we went weekly could have changed so drastically. Well it did. Food was actually frozen... we received a frozen cheese stick. Server was unfazed and just said ok our bad and picked up the app and walked away. It was still on the bill. Our sandwiches showed up about 40 minutes later (as we continued to sit without drinks) missing the usual ingredients (they were listed on the menu) and basically just bread. We so wanted this place to be good. Maybe that's why we had a horrible experience, but that's fine, we won't be returning (and it's never busy anymore like it used to be). read more

Everything you love about your favorite Irish Pub without the Irish demand for throwing sauerkraut on everything. Plenty of space to seat a large house and a smaller personal bar setting located to the side. There food is American'esque with a less than average taste. Prices range from 8-12$ per meal which makes it the perfect location to grab your buds and go out for a bite and a few beers. read more

Wow....Great Atmosphere, Great Service, Great Food! I was in town for the K-State game and found Boston Beanery to be a place I will return when in town again. My server was top notch, my food arrived fast and it was delicious. When I mentioned that I was a K-State alumni following the team, she discussed places to visit while in Morgantown. Excellent. Very reasonably priced. My tuna was cooked perfectly and the portions were large. They have a wide variety of food to fit any taste. The house has a nice, rustic decor in an atmosphere that can easily be made intimate. Service was friendly and helpful; my waitress recommended the tuna, and I'm extremely glad I followed her advice. read more

Everything was fine and dandy until our pizza came out burned crispy. Even my husband, who typically prefers burnt food, didn't enjoy it. I used to frequently eat here with my family. It can be a little loud at times, but the staff is great. The food is served hot and quickly as well. The quality of the food has diminished over the years though. Portion sizes & fresh ingredients seem to have been sacrificed. The last few visits, I've had rather wilted salads.
