I am both motivated by quality of service AND pricing. When booking my daughter's move into a 5th Floor apartment (no elevator), I did a lot of research, talked to a lot of different companies. Most of these companies will add in lots of hidden fees (credit card surcharge) and start the clock on moving at the time the company is in transit. Not so with BBRM. There responsiveness and ability to get someone on the phone within seconds is impressive. We booked the move, confirmed the time, and they started communication / confirming details of the move about 7 days ahead of time. Even better communication day of move. The team of superstar movers (Arlen, Marvin, and Roberto) showed up at the early end of our appointment, quickly and efficiently loaded the truck, made a second stop in Cambridge on the way, and met us at the apartment. By the time I found parking in Beacon Hill and walked over, the move was done. Including a long sofa up a winding staircase to the 5th floor. Oh, did I mention NO ELEVATOR? Truly an impressive company, I will never use another company. The entire move only took 3 of the 4 hours that I booked, and they only charged for the 3 hours!!! UPDATE: After hearing of my disappointment with their service, BBRM contacted me and wanted to make sure I knew that they didn't want to lose me as a customer and made things right. They promised to have a talk with their crew to make sure this doesn't happen again in the future, if possible. Nice that they want to make the effort to keep their customers happy. I've used them twice and although they work pretty fastdon't think I'll be using them again. The first time was just to unload. The second time was an in-town move, and *a lot* of my furniture arrived damaged on the other end. They were obviously not careful about how they loaded the stuff into the truck so even though my new place was only a couple of miles away, my furniture sustained more damage than it did during a cross country move. I love this moving company ! Talk about contemporary, but old school attentive A+ service. I didn't feel rushed or just another client in their queue even though I know they are busy. One of the best feature is that they allow you to create a personal online account where you can see all your move booking details and also allow you to message them with any questions, concerns, and requests before your move. Takes all the stress and guess work out from just booking a service online or over the phone and hoping for the best day of. They have email and text reminders as your move date approaches as well. The actual movers (Marvel and his team) were amazing. They showed up in the scheduled timeframe on the earlier end. They were thorough, polite, and very fast ! I offered that they can take breaks since I paid for ample time and hate feeling rushed myself, but they were all business. They listened to all my requests during the process and handled packaging and all my items with high regard. They really went above and beyond where they could. They kept me informed when inquired and did everything they could to ensure everything would be taken care of without my offers of assistance as I just supervised offering few clarifications when asked. Nothing broken, dropped, or even dirtied. They tried to keep everything as neat and tidy as possible. Very organized down to the little screws for my TV stand. All 3 movers had such a great attitude throughout the process and it was great they tried to make the process as fun as possible among themselves despite ALL MY STUFF (it was a lot even though they were nice to lie to reassure me it wasn't). I have a lot of clothes, shoes, and accessories from my events. Would highly recommend for a hassle free move and painless booking and payment process. I was conned by this company. I was scammed and bullied by this company. I was unable to ever reach them by phone. I was unable to even receive a response of any kind by text. They sent 3 non English speaking movers although one claimed he could speak English. That was problematic as they never admitted they didn't understand and got lost twice. I (78 yo) woman had to climb in the cab of the truck to get them to the destination which was around the corner from starting point. No one had a license to leave with the concierge. Boston Best Rate Movers arrived on time, got my impossible furniture from Waltham to Brighton despite some really challenging architecture, and even helped me uninstall some utensil racks that I wanted to take with me. These guys are superstars! One caveat - they use a really bad third-party system called Arrivy to allegedly let you track your movers. Not only is it buggy (it thought my crew were coming from Kansas City) but it's deceptive - it just broadcasts, and while there's a space for response, any response on your part just falls into a black hole. First time was back in October, they were fast and efficient. They *also* piled stuff up haphazardly at my storage space and held it up together with plastic wrap. Moving it afterwards became a dangerous game of Jenga. So that was strike one. After first contacting them A WEEK AGO through their website and painstakingly entering my inventory, modifying my dates to match their "available" windows, I get a two line message with "Oh yeah, we don't go that city anymore and we are booked anyway". They were extra careful with all my things and were able to disassemble and reassemble things in a flash. Made my move very easy! I was relocating from outside Boston into the North End and my movers were fast, efficient and the rates were very reasonable compared to other companies I explored. They showed up on time and hustled to get me situated ASAP. They handled the tight stairways in my older building beautifully and all of my belongings arrived safe and sound, including wrapping my wood furniture in plastic to protect it. Would definitely recommend and use again. My only critique is that the website where I booked the move had some conflicting information. When I initially set up the move it requested details of my items but that section was always blocked out and when I asked about it they said they actually didn't need it. Also they said my contact would email/call me to discuss my move but no one ever contacted me until I contacted them first about a week and a half before my move. The three gentlemen were early and were done moving a third floor apartment to another third floor in under 4 hours. I used Boston Best Rate Movers for my move from the city to the suburbs. Carlos and Juan and another gentlemen showed up(forget his name) They were right off the bat so nice and professional. They showed up right at 8am like they said they would arrive. We had tons of boxes, king bed, two TVs and dressers. They were so gentle and careful with everything as if it were their own. Boston Best Rate is one of a number of small Boston moving companies presided over by an individual named Eliran Derei. These include: atommoving.com bostonqualitymovers.com movingcompanyallston.com bostonflatrate.com bostonbestrate.com michaelsmovers.com movingexplorer.com bostonquality.com newwaymovingservices.com bestratemove.com I hired another incarnation of one of Derei's companies called Boston Flat Rate Movers in 2009 for a move from Boston to DC. (Boston Flat Is is now currently called Boston Best Rate Movers-all these name changes are necessary because all those negative reviews accumulate). My belongings were 4 days late for a local move. Reason: The truck was impounded in NY because they drove it on a parkway that prohibited trucks and their driver had a suspended license. In DC, the contents of the truck were held hostage on arrival, and they demanded 3X the original quote in cash for the driver to release my belongings. They refused to accept a credit card, despite this assurance in the contract. Derei goes by fake names when communicating with customers. I ended up contacting the MA Attorney General, and after the company refused to mediate through their office and ignored certified mail requests to do so, I took them to small claims court in Brighton, MA. After the owner did not show for two hearings, I hired Chris Waites, a MA Constable (yelp.com/biz/massachuset...) to take him into custody and escort him to Brighton Court where I won my case against him. I filed jointly with another Yelp user, (Chris D) who had the same problem.The constable we hired was armed. In order for the owner of the company to comply with the capias filed it took an armed sheriff to get him into court on the third try. But the sociopathic behavior continued. Derei made inappropriate comments and gestures toward me in front of the judge. These scammers change company names and remove their Yelp listing before negative information catches up with them. In January 2015 280 filtered ("not recommended") reviews of this Boston Flat Rate Movers were posted on Yelp that were resoundingly negative. Now, most of those reviews are missing. I suspect they either remove their listing or change their name when the bad reviews accumulate or pay off Yelp in some way to demote or remove the honest accounts of their deplorable business. If you haven't had enough of this yet, read the filtered reviews, check out reviews on BBB, look at corporate filings from the MA Sec of State website. If you want to pursue legal action, do it. They deserve to be OUT OF BUSINESS and management IMPRISONED for all of their impropriety. If you are still searching for a mover, do yourself a favor - find another. Keywords: fraud, shakedown, extortion, theft, racket, stealing, scum, scam Update: I was contacted by Derei via phone on 4/29/15 who requested that I remove my earlier review because, while not disclosing his name, he assured me the company was under new ownership and he was determined to put it on the right path. I gave him the opportunity to propose a solution and offer proof of the company's new ownership via email. The following day I received an email from a Relocation Consultant at the company. In the email they offered $750.00 for me to remove my review. MA active business filings for the Owner of the company that I sued in 2010 are currently mapped to Boston Flat Rate's physical address. If I could give this company 0 stars, I would. As far as customer service goes, they make Comcast seem like the best company in the world. Basically, they lie, they cheat, they manipulate, and they extort. But we could live with all of that if they actually delivered our stuff. It's now taken 3 weeks for a cross country move that should have and could have taken less than 1 week, and we are still being di--ed around and told that our stuff will be delivered soon. That line has been told to us for two weeks already with our things nowhere to be found. BFRM is already in breach of their contract, but they refuse to acknowledge any wrongdoing or that they have lied to us repeatedly, despite their own audio recordings showing otherwise. When I explained to their manager that we were going to start telling everyone we knew about how bad the company was (online and off-), he actually threatened us. We had hired BFRM because their original estimate was $2000 less than other companies. We should have known better. When they picked up our stuff, they added in numerous additional charges that made their cost equal to the other quotes we had received. Fine. So be it. But the other companies would have moved our belongings in a week or less. Three weeks is ridiculous. And now we're on to week 4. Basically, this is a heinous, vile, despicable, deplorable, shady and corrupt company that is not up to the task of moving goods, which you would think might be problematic for a moving company! First of all, money was missing from my possessions after they moved me. So make sure to hide your money if you ever unfortunate enough to use them. I asked them to come at 9am, they came at 815 before I was done packing. They broke several pieces of furniture, which makes sense since every time I walked by their truck when they were loading my things I heard loud crashing noises. They were sloppy and careless moving my possessions. Everything of mine fell out into theirs dirty truck. Make sure you have insurance if you are using them! read more

I had a great experience with this company. They were prompt, professional, and very efficient. They where very cautious with my things and seemed to really care about how smooth my move was going. At the new apartment they were helpful in making sure everything got to the appropriate room so I wouldn't have to move anything later. They are very serious when they say everything must be in a box. I had some things packed in a hamper/ in duffle bags and I did end up having to pay for extra boxes through them that were large enough to fit the duffle etc inside. I recommend making sure all of your things are packed super super well in real boxes to avoid paying for boxes as they are more expensive than those you can buy elsewhere. I had initially called Boston Best Rate Movers to speak with a customer service representative simply for a quote. This is my first time using a moving service, so I thought it best to speak with someone on the phone rather than booking the service online. The rep gave me short answers and spoke at such a low volume that I could hardly hear what he was saying. As a began to ask clarifying questions, the rep became increasingly more and more aggravated with me. I apologized, as it became quite clear that I was inconveniencing him with my questions; however, it did not take long for the rep to begin raising his voice at me, expressing disbelief that I couldn't understand his rude one-word replies and vague explanations. After a few minutes of being treated like an idiot, I told the rep that I was not comfortable being spoken to in such a rude manner, and that I was no longer interested in their services. This is when the screaming began. I promptly asked to be forwarded to his manager. The rep screamed "NO!" and then abruptly forwarded me to his supervisor. I explained to the supervisor what had transpired. He apologized to me on behalf of the rep, fully reimbursed my deposit, and assured me that the rep's actions will not be tolerated. Had I spoken to the supervisor initially, I am positive that my questions would be adequately answered and that my requested moving and storage services would have been booked. While I refuse to cast a shadow on an entire company based off of just one negative encounter with a customer service representative, this man's rude, downright disrespectful attitude and language pushed me to the point of tears, and I have no desire to utilize Boston Best Rate Movers at this time. read more

My fiancee very prematurely gave these guys a rave review due to the fact that they were inexpensive and finished up really quick. However, upon settling in we noticed we are missing a box, my tv is broken and many of my pieces of furniture have sustained damage to the wood. The money we saved with moving is now having to go to a new tv so honestly it would made more sense to just hire a professional. I moved from Medford to East Boston. The movers arrived on time and were very efficient. They were polite and I did not have to lift a single thing. It was a bit wet and drizzling outside, so they had to wrap my mattress in plastic wrap. They also ended up using two extra boxes, since some of my items had to be repackaged. My original quote was $297. After the wrap and extra boxes, it came out to $360. I thought that was a little steep...but in the end it was worth it. Would recommend them again! read more
