I was dealing with a very complex wine storage and cellar management issue from California involving a collection being moved from New York and Jahn and his team went above and beyond to help me with this very complicated situation. I could not have asked for a more accommodating, friendly, and professional group of people. The wine storage area is incredibly secure and at the right temperature and humidity levels. The lockers do not have shelves, so I would recommend bringing your own very sturdy ones to maximize the safety and efficiency of your storage needs. read more

They rented me a van with no way to fulfill the contract since the key was too big for the key return and my van was due at store open. I called U-Haul customer service and was told I'd be contacted by the store owner and he ghosted me. Do not rent a U-Haul here the issue is not resolved, and is unlikely to be resolved, there is no way I'm the first person who tried to use that box. They know about the issue and don't care about customers experience enough to fix it. Other issues but this is the main problem I encountered. read more

Great experience with renting a uhaul here. I've done so at 3 or 4 places in the greater Boston area and this one was by far the smoothest. I picked up my truck the morning after a big snowstorm, and they had cleaned the snow off my truck thoroughly before I picked it up. I just moved in to a unit this morning and had to write a review since the experience surpassed my expectations. Albert, the manager, is incredibly helpful, and this facility is transparent, honest, clean, and friendly overall. I made my reservation online a few weeks prior, and got a call within a day explaining what I was renting and how the process worked. There's a set up fee in addition to the monthly charge, and you have to grab insurance if you don't already have it (these are normal across the industry), but I really appreciated how transparent and forthcoming they were in explaining how the storage facility worked, when and how I could access it, and what I was signing up for. Pro tip: The upstairs units, which are newer, seemed a bit better lit and easier to navigate with the trolleys than the lower level. Also, you can rent UHaul trucks and vans at the facility, which makes it very convenient. I'd highly recommend this spot for a well run and professional storage facility. read more

Finding a unit at Value Store It has been one of the most pleasant storage experiences I've ever had. Kenny, the manager, is one of the kindest and most patient customer service representatives I have ever encountered. Kenny showed me several units, answered all my questions, and even helped me think about which unit is best suited for me instead of just going with the higher priced unit. You can tell that he really cares about his customers rather than other storage companies who just want to make a buck. He even stayed an hour after closing time to show me more storage units because I couldn't make up my mind. I didn't even get this type of service at Chanel! The storage units are well kept, clean, and well ventilated. The prices are just as great as their customer service. If you're thinking of renting anywhere else - don't. I couldn't stop raving about this place to all my friends. Corporate, if you're reading this, you seriously need to give Kenny a raise. I've never met anyone more dedicated to his job. They'll wow you to get you in a unit. After that they will raise your storage rent to unbelievable prices. I've only been with them a year and they've raised my monthly rent over $100. My contract cost was $135 per month when I signed. They're now asking for $259 per month beginning in August and I don't even have a large unit! May as well go with Public Storage. At least they tell you up front that they're going to take all your money. read more

The act of moving isn't a pleasant one and this company made the experience even worse! I rented a van weeks ago in preparation for my needs. And as I've rented from them in the past, I thought they were decent. For my latest rental, they called me at 4:05pm on the day before and left me a voicemail, my rental which was for 7:00am the next morning, to tell me my van wasn't going to be available! Seriously?! This is absolutely inexusable! Why would you ever rent from somewhere that changes your reservation the day before? Seriously, go elsewhere! read more

Great storage facility. Had to move things in and out while getting my house ready for sale. Place is clean and secure. Staff was helpful with answering questions. I decided to move out early and did not get a refund but this was understandable. Next time, I will rent for shorter and just add month if needed. First time using a storage facility and was pretty anxious about the whole process. Albert helped with getting things set up for me. Parking entrance is a bit tight but for a small truck or car is just fine. They have dollies there to help with move. read more

Rented lockers over the course of ~18 months. There were no issues with reserving or moving into lockers. Customer service is fine until there are problems- that's of course when it actually matters. The trouble came when renting a 2nd locker in a different building. They assured me that my access codes were tested and working. When I actually went to use the code, it didn't work and I was stuck outside the building, kid in tow, and no one available to help in person or on the phone. There is an "emergency" phone number on the door that is not picked up, and email that never got answered. It turns out they didn't actually test the code on the door itself. When they actually confirmed that the code didn't work, they just blamed it on the access system- zero compensation for loss of use (I asked), and a 'not my fault' attitude. I also rented a U-Haul once from them where the gas level was low. I took photos with the starting odometer reading and gas level and returned it at the same level. They claimed that wasn't good enough and charged me a fee for low gas, which U-Haul immediately refunded me when they saw the photos. They could have done better than force customers to go over their heads to get issues resolved. read more

First of all, huge shoutout to the on-site staff members - Albert, and Kenny - for excellent customer service! If you're in the Allston/Brighton area, and have one of those pesky last-day-of-previous-month/first-day-of-new-month moves, and are not comfortable with stashing your stuff in a U-Haul overnight, this is the place to go. For a first time storage unit renter, my experience could not have been better. The first time I visited there, the store manager Albert gave me a tour of the facilities, showed me the options I had with the units, and made recommendations as to what would fit my storage needs. The facility itself is pretty big (I was surprised to see something of that size in the heart of Allston). There are loading areas to park your car/truck to make unloading easier, handcarts you can check out from the front desk, a free coffee bar (!), a waiting area, and you can also buy packing supplies on site. The management is flexible with rental dates and gives you the best price possible, especially if you've already scoped out the units online. Moving out of the unit was also a breeze since you schedule it online, make sure the unit is empty, and just let the staff know, and you're done! I definitely recommend Value Store It for anyone who is trying to make their move as sane as possible without breaking the bank! read more

My fiancee already rents a storage unit from this place (with an excellent history thus far), and she informed me that they have parking spaces as well. In anticipation of the typically brutal winter season Boston has to offer, I called to secure a spot. There were temporarily none available, but the friendly guy on the phone offered to call me in the event one became available. Not only did they call me as soon as one become free, but they patiently guided us through the process of reserving and then renting it, and they ensured that we received the appropriate promotional offer, despite the fact I didn't complete the process online. They even went beyond that, identifying who my fiancee was by name, and crediting her storage rental for the month with the amount of the "referral bonus" she earned by sending me there. All of this would've been deserving enough of a 5-star review, but the two gentlemen who helped us were infinitely patient, extremely friend;y, and were juggling us and a number of other customers simultaneously. This place is an outstanding, efficient and well-managed secret resource of the Allston neighborhood, and they will likely be receiving our business for as long as proximity allows. read more

Made sure he got me in and out as quick as possible as I was on a time restraint. I decided to put some of my belongings at Value You Store It. Albert and Kenny "seemed" very nice and helpful (LET THE BUYER BEWARE!) The day after making my online payment (which was supposed to be $95, but I was $115), I was dropping off some more items and didn't feel well. I laid down for 15 minutes. Albert throws open the shed door, and tells me I can't lay down there, and I have to leave. I explained the situation, but said I would leave when he refunded my money. A full months rent that was not used one day. He said it didn't work like that, and he would call the cops on me. Told him I just wanted my money,, but to do what he thought he had to do I weigh 100 lbs, but he needed assistance. Wow. (Cops were wonderful. They weren't impressed with him. So basically you have a sissy and a thief. If that's what you're looking for, please contact VYSI! read more

I liked most of the staff here they were pretty nice and helpful. my issue is that I paid everything in person a month in advance of when i needed it. Then about a month or so later after i've already moved my stuff in i got an invoice to pay but it said if i'm on autopay to just ignore it. I figured that since i already paid that it wasn't an issue. Few weeks later I get an email saying my payment is late and they charge me a late fee. I call and they say they'll call back, called me back and said there was a mistake in the system and that i'm all set. A couple days before my move out day they send me another invoice ! This time I don't call because i'm going to be there to move my stuff out in a couple days so when i move my stuff out i tell the guy what happened and he says it says i only paid a certain amount but i didn't pay the prorated amount (which i did) so again something wrong in the system?? another worker ended up saying it's fine. now another issue i had is with the uhaul. I returned my truck after 4 hours of using it but it was busy so the guy took the keys but was also helping other ppl and there was a line of people. so i'm guesssing that he didn't process the return of the truck til the next day cause i got charged for two days, an extra $50! I'm still waiting for a return but i called twice and the second time they told me it's up to uhaul. But the whole situation is annoying to deal with because it was their fault in the first place. I just feel like there were so many errors in the span of 2 months which has been causing me unnecessary stress. other than that, i give it two stars because the place is nice and clean and some of the staff were helpful. read more

Starts out good but beware. The location is good and the space is clean. Access is difficult if anyone else is there at the same time as the loading dock is on a narrow alley and the only way out is to back up. Just hope no one pulls up behind you. But the real problem is the price hikes. They jacked the rent 33% after three months and then another 25% less than a year later, basically doubling the rent in less than a year. This is my first storage experience, but so far it's been a good one. I reserved a unit online and the manager called me shortly there after to go over some details. I visited the location the same day to check out the unit and decided that it was a bit to small. I described what I needed as was immediately shown what I wanted. I scouted half a dozen self storage facilities before renting one at Value Store It in Allston. It turns out to be a great decision. Why? - Value's customer service and attitude is heads and shoulders above the rest. There are always several staff in the office. Manager Albert would patiently show me different options, without pressure or upselling. - The offices of the facilities like Extra, Cube, Simply, Public, etc. sometimes would have no one present. When showing me the spaces, they would start with the least attractive ones first (with holes in the walls, obstructing pipes, etc.). Then they would hard sell, pressuring me to book at once. They would tell me that if I book online, I would get a randomly assigned space and cannot change. - By comparison, Value's spaces are the cleanest, best lit, the most convenient, and with more choices. They have spaces with wide doors (full length along the long dimension). Cars can park inside the buildings to load/unload. - Value's online prices can seem higher than the rest. But Value will match their competitors' online prices for the equivalent spaces. Make sure you print a competitor's price list and bring it with you. read more

Extremely professional and accommodating. My wife and I rented a new unit from Albert about six months ago (right around the ownership change). We previously had a smaller unit with the old owners.
