Integrity is everything, and this company packs it in spades. I had an issue with a car key for my fiance's car, which was broken. I went to the shop and they cut me a new key. I get home tonight to test it out, and the cut was a bit off... I can start the car, but the key was stuck and I couldn't remove it from the ignition. I call the store, and Mario comes thru to my residence after hours, gives me a new cut on the spot, while giving the car battery a jump in the process (all free of charge of course). Boston Car Keys is fabulous! My smart key was bashed to pieces and the dealer price was almost $400. to replace it, including programmjng and cutting a new key. These guys were $195, including everything! And it works! Great to deal with, including nice people and a neat dog, Teo. I called and spoke with Boston car keys and they gave me a verbal quote for a replacement key, they told me they'd need to order the remote fob. later the next week, I called ready to start the process, was told when they answered it was good Friday. He would return my call in Saturday. Saturday came no return phone call. I left another message, late Saturday. No return phone call, left a second message on Monday and a third on Tuesday. For this you need two keys.We only had one for our '16 Subaru, and the dealers all wanted like $500 for another one. I found Boston Car Keys when my car key--my emergency backup car key--grew legs and walked away. I have one of those weird transponder keys, so I figured I'd have to go back to the dealership. It was Sunday, so the closest Toyota service center was closed. The second wouldn't work on a new key unless I got my car towed to their repair shop. Ha! And they wouldn't be able to do it until the next morning. I called Boston Car Keys and met Rich (Proprietor? Maybe. Savior? Definitely!) at my car 30 minutes later. It took a couple of tweaks, but less than an hour later, I had two working car keys. I swear--I'm not the harebrained type who would misplace her elbows if they weren't physically attached. Car key worked for less than 6 months Called to ask if they would replace it and the guy very rudely told me it's my problem to figure out and suggested I try an auto store and if I want them to look at the key I need to travel to their store in east Boston to have it done. I paid them a ton of money to come to my house and create a key, if your product breaks in less than a year I should not as the customer have to go out of my way to have it made right. He was friendly and quick to respond, arrived just when he said he would, and even modified his schedule to help a neighbor who went down to ask for help while he was working on my key. What really struck me, though, was how honest he was. It turned out I was in an even stupider position than I had originally thought and he easily could have made some quick cash off me. Instead, he showed me the situation and accepted a very modest token for his time. I feel as though I've had the kind of exchange you see in movies where the goodly doctor of old pays house calls to the folks out on the prairie. Service took 2 men 2 hours. I paid $225 for 1 key with transponder inside of it. I did not need to buy a clicker because I had a spare clicker. I was quoted $65 each for a copy of key with transponder or a copy of clicker. I called on a Friday evening at 6pm. They were at my place in everett the same night by 7:20pm. They left at 9:20pm. I forgot to mention the yelp discount. Whatever, I haven't had the use of my car in one week. The gentleman I spoke with was super nice and professional. Boston Car Keys came through, and then some. I secured my trunk to leave my purse in while walking my dog: locking the seats, locking the release and today, (first time in 18 years, mind you) locking my sole key inside, too. If you can't access the trunk from the inside of the vehicle, Roadside Assistance can't help. Dealerships don't have skeleton keys. My mechanic's idea of disassembling the back seats couldn't work--hinges were in trunk, too. So, two hours after I called, (super prompt, considering) BCK was there. Not only did Ricardo play with my dog, unlock my trunk, make another key for my car, and handle it all with an attitude of total capability, he also even fixed the original key's broken key-chain arch--which the dealership said meant "a whole new key" and was why/how my key accidentally got locked in the trunk in the first place. For less than the dealer would have charged and within hours instead of days, the help I needed came to me, fixed the symptom, and the problem, painlessly--for a fee, but honestly it was well under other quotes I had gotten. For years I wanted a spare but: auto key stores were open difficult hours, or I had to order the blanks (no help to know which blank to buy) for the shop to cut and program and dealerships refused to make an "unlocking" key to upsell me to a programmable one. But BCK and Ricardo provided customer service and solutions in a way I thought was long gone. Mad props. read more
