If I could give a 0 rating, I would. We woke up to 4 inches of rain in our finished basement after…read moreHurricane Ida. We had never had water there so we absolutely panicked. Someone told us to call ServPro to help with our emergency situation. When I did, the person I spoke to described all the services they would provide including ripping out all the baseboards and cutting into the walls to dry them out, etc. So we decided to hire them. The guy said we needed to give them a deposit of $2000 right away so I gave them our credit card #. Later when I received the email from Servpro with the receipt attached, it showed that they had charged our card $3000, not $2000 like he said!! I was very surprised to see this but I thought we would sort it out later. In the mean time, my husband and I spent the entire day drying out the basement, cleaning it up and getting rid of all the debris. We thought we should do all the basics so that the team from ServPro would come and do the more sophisticated work which we were not up to. The next day, the ServPro guys showed up 3 hours earlier than they had said they would come. The 3 men who showed up clearly did not seem like the "specialists" which were promised to us. Upon seeing the basement totally dry and clean, one of them said to us, "there is nothing for us to do here". My husband and I realized at this point, that we had no use for them as these men were not going to do anything other than what we had already accomplished. So, we told them that we did not want their service and that they could leave. They then asked me to call their office. We went into our house and called. The person we spoke to told us that we had reserved their time, that it was our choice not to use their service, that we should have canceled beforehand (but they were 3 hours early!) so they were keeping the $3000 deposit and not reimbursing a penny! We had every intention of paying for the time spent for them to come out to our place but for them to keep the entire $3000 when they had not spent a minute working for us was ludicrous!!! We immediately called our credit card company and opened up a dispute case. This phone call lasted at least 20 minutes and when I got off the phone, we saw that the 2 vans with the Servpro guys were still in our driveway even though we had asked them to leave. We went out there and had to be very insistent about their leaving our private property before they finally left. We are still in a dispute with the company. I took the time to write my very first Yelp review ever because we have been so shocked by the horrendous business practice (bordering on criminal) of Servpro. Take our word for it - never use these guys!

I have used servpro Cambridge/Belmont on a few different occasions in the past decade; once for a…read moresevere roof leak and we had to gut our kitchen and also for a leaky toilet that caused water damage to the floor below. In both cases, servpro Cambridge/Belmont was very responsive and was able to undertake the work right away, which is super important when dealing with water damage. The workers were very good. I will definitely be using them again when needed. One quick tip. The different Servpro locations are generally owned and operated by different individuals. They are all not the same. I used Servpro Alston for a job once by accident thinking it was Servpro Cambridge/Belmont. I didn't find them to be the same quality (at all) that I had experienced with Servpro Cambridge/Belmont. All locations are not the same. I think quality depends a huge amount on the owner and managers. Both Raffi and Sergio who I dealt with at Servpro Cambridge/Belmont are really excellent. They were both a pleasure to deal with and extremely nice and courteous. In the most recent job, there were a few complications on my end, but they were able to work through those with me professionally and without any issues at all.

If anyone tried to ask her a question she would fast-talk over them and raise her voice to intimidate you. When I had a moment to try to talk calmly to her she tried to pass off her behavior as "it's hard to be a woman in this male-dominated industry." Please... I know MANY women in similar situations that aren't cheap, craven, unapologetic liars.

I hired ServPro of Allston, Brighton & Brookline because they promised to refund the cost of the assessment for my project if I use them. I paid them the assessment fee in front, and over $7K for the entire project. Not only did they NOT refund me for the assessment cost, but also they were trying to charge me even more. I had already hired some other company did most of work, what ServPro actually did was much less than what they estimated, both in man power and time wise. The assessment fee was supposedly $350 according to what they told me on the phone, they actually charged $369 without explanation. I went back and forth through emails with their account manager, who repeatedly assured me they would refund me for the assessment fee. The refund never came and the manager was making false statement after false statement. They purposely dragged out the exchange so that it was past 60 day window required for credit card disputes. Very expensive, poor service, and over charging. DON'T believe their promises!
