A great cup of coffee this morning and a bunch of wifi while I plotted my Sunday attack on Dayton OH. This is a neat spot with small and large tables inside and several tables outside. They do have a drive through and it was hopping busy the whole time. A large drip single origin coffee was rich and flavorful. It was definitely enough to get me going for the day. I rely on this place constantly. They are always there to keep me caffeinated. Like everyone, I'm obsessed with Highlander Grog. It is lightly flavored so it still tastes like coffee. After the tornadoes on Memorial Day 2019, I ran my office from Boston Stoker wi fi and steaming mugs of java I love that they were a drop off site for relief supplies too. Regarding Boston Stocker Clayton, I have been regular customer for years. Good coffee, good service, easy access. When the weather warmed up and I started getting an Iced Caramel Latte I realized I was ending up with a full cup of ice left over after drinking my coffee. When I asked for 'light ice' I was told that I would be charged $1 more, for less ice? I spoke to the manager and told him I thought that was unacceptable to charge $1 more for less ice. His response was that "milk cost money and to take it up with Corporate." His tone was agitated and rude when speaking to me. Is this a corporate decision? I started thinking about the 'milk cost money' response, and I watch them make my coffee and they throw away at least 1/3 of a cup of coffee every time they make a large iced Caramel Latte. So the reason for the $1 more per drink for less ice is Bull. I don't know why you want to do this to your regular customers. I am someone who likes to support local as much as possible, even if it is a little more expensive. I will not be supporting Boston Stoker anymore. There are too many coffee shops to choose from and I am choosing to take my approximately $200 per month to another shop. read more

Boston Stoker Coffee Roasters is a charter member of the Specialty Coffee Association of America and has a strong reputation in the specialty coffee world for roasting good coffee. This is a review of this location and the folks at their roastery. This is the first coffee shop I have been to that has a humidor in it! The employee that showed me around the roastery told me that Boston Stoker got started in coffee when they started serving coffee to keep people in the store to smoke more cigars. The baristas were super friendly, cool, down to earth, and served up a good cup of joe. I think I'm stating the obvious, but this location has many of the qualities you'd find in an excellent specialty coffee shop. It's the humidor and the history of Boston Stoker that makes them stand out among the competitors in the area. Boston Stoker show me such wonderful hospitality in touring their roastery that my heart was knit to their business. The guide tailored the tour to my interests and knowledge, got to know me as a person, and topped it off with a pour over of stellar cup of coffee the team had been enjoying and a bunch of free stickers! I am an out-of-towner from Cleveland that stopped by Boston Stoker while visiting family in the area. The beans were fresh and flavorful plus It was an open-mic night with some local talent performing. We stayed for an hour or two while sipping several tasty drinks. My new favorite is the Irish Grog Latte which is this butterscotch goodness I have never had before. We also tried both of their winter specials because they sounded too delicious to pass up: the orange ginger latte and the peppermint Mexican mocha. I would recommend the Mexican mocha because like the spicy-ness but if you like a more bitter-citrus taste the orange ginger is also good. read more

I'm usually more apt to go to Starbucks but decided to stop here && try them out. I really like the casual indoor && outdoor seating, doesn't make you feel crowded && the music is not super loud so you don't feel overwhelmed. The inside was nice, clean && organized. Also, the two guys that were working there were very friendly && answered all my questions about their products. I ordered an iced grogg latte && it was delicious!! Boston Stoker is my go-to for a latte, while in my hometown. I love their iced chai latte, and Boston Grogg Latte! I normally use the drive-thru, and the staff is always very friendly and helpful. There also usually isn't a line (unlike Starbucks) which is great! I'm always satisfied with my drink at this location! Wish there were more locations, outside of Dayton area! Make sure to go inside every once in awhile, they have some cute apparel and other goodies. read more

Coffee is always good here. I take my dog sometimes and they give her a treat. Employees are always working too hard for how much they make. Do wish prices were a bit cheaper so I could leave a bigger tip for the employees. read more

Good place to work. Wide variety of coffees and I usually take a bag back with me because of the price and quality. Shame they don't do pour overs (or don't any more) I feel like their coffee offerings beg to have the flavors brought out. Wish they had more substantial food offerings, but other than that no qualms about reccomending this place. read more

I've had coffee in a wide variety of places, and I've had coffee from Boston Stoker before, but this one was pretty awful. The taste and temperature weren't right. I went with a basic press and not a fancy drink, but if you can't do that right, you shouldn't be a coffee house. The location wasn't very inviting. Nothing horrible, but they could use an interior designer. The furniture seemed mismatched and looked pretty uncomfortable. The outdoor patio is in need of an awning. Also the pastries looked old. We opted not to get any. But in the end, the coffee was bad, so nothing else really matters anyway. read more

The coffee here is always fantastic. The service, however, can be hit or miss, depending on whether attitude is important to you or not. But I can say, the staff don't mind doing a pour over, in fact they're set up very well to do that. if you've never had one, you should try it. They also have a small selection of pastries, and a large, walk in humidor with a big selection of cigars. the Internet access is also decent. and there is plenty of parking around back if the front lot is full. read more

When I am home in Dayton, I generally drive from my parents home (close to Brookville) to the Starbucks by UD or one of the coffee houses on Miller Lane to get some hot tea and use the internet. I am NOT a coffee drinker, so I base my opinions of these places of the intangibles that would theoretically make you a loyal customer of a coffee house - other items offered, customer service, ambiance, etc. I must say that the ambiance is phenomenal - the place looks (and smells) great, it is very comfortable. The temperature is comfortable (as compared to the Tim Horton's up the street, which is extremely cold and uncomfortable), and the music is not too loud (like in Tim Horton's, the Panera on Miller Ln or the Starbucks downtown). The one thing that will prevent me from potentially returning is the customer service. Lacking!!!! They have an option of steeping your loose leaf tea - do not chose this! My tea was extremely bitter. In addition, once it was "ready", the woman who helped me just sat it on the counter and continued with her conversation/refreshment. She did not bother to let me know it was ready. Additionally, when I mentioned this, she just laughed and said "well, it hasn't been sitting up here for long." Overall, I do not think this Boston Stoker is that bad, but if you are used to great service (which their competition clearly offers across the board!!) then you should consider going elsewhere. read more

This is by far the best coffee in town. The baristas really know what they are talking about and are really helpful.

I love the coffee as well as the creativity of the baristas. I usually don't like to order things exactly as printed and they have zero problem with that. I've made up drinks on the spot and they've at least tried to execute. My favorite is the "skinny lady with curves" where I tweak a few ingredients in the "skinny lady" to give her a little booty donk. I also like the white hot chocolate. It's not on the menu, but if a creative is there, they can make it for you. One small complaint - I like to sit for a while, so I myself am part of this problem, but the furniture is pretty worn and shapeless. Can hurt your back after a while. Overall, I definitely recommend this place, for both solo coffee time and small meetings. read more

This place has lost focus. The last few times the coffee tasted scorched like Starbuck's and I've noticed everything has moved to a corporate feel. I still think the organic DLM blend makes the best drip coffee, but for coffee drinks and various other types of coffee, I recommend Ghostlight Coffee on Wayne Ave. read more

One particular employee spent a lot of time talking about how awful the other employees were and how bad their turnover has been. I go because I actually like the coffee. I like the matcha lattes. I used to like the ambiance but the change is now very sterile. I liked the muffins until I got a very dry, old, maybe made last week muffin. I actually took one bite and chugged to get it down. The rest went in the trash can. I used to love this place really, staff have always been standoffish, but the feeling there was different. The quality was different, better.
