I took my GX into this shop for a pre-trip inspection, which cost $120. When speaking with the service tech, I pointed out several concerns I had with the vehicle. He noted them and told me I'd receive a call after the inspection was completed. Before bringing my vehicle in, I already knew there was a power steering leak--it was clearly visible. However, when the technician called to go over the inspection results, there was no mention of the leak or any of the concerns I had raised. I had to ask three separate times for them to check those issues. At that point, I had no confidence that my vehicle had been properly inspected. I told the technician there should be a leak coming from the power steering lines and asked how they could have missed something so obvious. His response was that they must have missed it. When I was told my vehicle was ready, I went in to pick it up and spoke with them in person. I was hoping for some kind of discount on the service bill, considering I had to point out an obvious issue myself, but the only response I received was, "I'll talk to my technicians about this." The cherry on top, when I opened my car door, I found a dirty rag and a screwdriver left inside. After spending thousands of dollars here, this experience was extremely disappointing. We took our car in for front end noise. They said they couldn't find a noise and charged us a diagnostic fee of $99. When we drove home the noise was still there and we discovered a dent on the hood. This car is pristine, or was pristine and now it's damaged. We also went to a different shop who found that the lower control arm bushing was making the noise and that it's common with the Corollas. So Bothell Toyota Specialists doesn't know common issues with Toyotas? What a waste of time and money. read more

Took my 2005 Lexus RX330 here for 180k service in August 2023. Only writing this review in May 2024 because it took that long to figure out what they did NOT do. In April, I took my car to a different shop to change the timing belt and found out the following: 1. Valve cover gasket needed to be replaced a long time ago, it was leaking oil all over the engine. 2. Power steering fluid was so low, there was almost no fluid in the bottle. The bottle is hidden away. They had to remove 4 plastic clips that hold the cover. 3. As part of the maintenance package, they should have advised us to take care of these two things in their report. I guess they didn't check. 4. They also lost one of the bolts that hold the air filter housing. They just put the nut back. A lot of 5 star ratings that were done a long time ago. It definitely is not a 5 star shop now. Shoddy work and pricing is not much cheaper than going to the dealer. read more

Be sure to call and schedule an appointment a few days out. I called the office for a quote for new front & rear breaks along with the resurfacing of my rotors. Spoke to Hing on the phone and he mentioned the type of brakes used, brand name, and price. Very transparent & honest. I thought price for cost of labor & parts were very fair & booked an appointment a few days out. Day of repairs, I spoke to Yi at the front desk and he walked me through how long the job was going to take. He estimated ~ 4 hours / half a day. I was surprised that the tech, Gale, was able to get the job even faster. It took them no more than 2 hours max. Phenomenal! Their "diagnosis" felt like a shot in the dark and a potential journey down an expensive rabbit hole of who-knows-what? They literally said, "Try this. Or it could be this too." What?! I specifically asked them to road test the vehicle. They didn't road test the vehicle to accurately duplicate the issue, only running it on the lift. On the lift. Wow. But they did something that saved me $2600 that Toyota of Kirkland was trying to over charge for a seat motor and install.. brought my car in and paid 120 for diagnostic and they fixed the seat motor that Kirkland Toyota tried to over charge me. They will give you an upfront price estimate so you know close to what you will be paying right away. I had both my Lexus and Toyota pick-up services here. Both times I had my own parts and supplies so the services was for labor only. However, after dropping off my vehicle, I received a phone call advising me of an additional service/step that was required in order to complete the job. They called me promptly, provided the exact price of this additional service and went to work right away. The price of service is about 50% less than at your local Dealership and completed in less than a business day. I highly recommend and will be having my 3rd vehicle serviced here soon! read more

Something has gone wrong, at Bothell Toyota Specialists. I know Hing, and Yi, quite well. Brought them my tan Scion Box van many times. But their prices are rising, and their interest in doing repairs is falling. I asked for a full brake job, all 4 wheels, with my checkbook absolutely wide-open to replace everything, and anything, that might be needed. This means I have to rent a car and do logistics for getting a ride etc. Paid $1650.00 and I picked up my car (and another $75 to rent the loaner, and another $15 for a Lyft ride). When I picked up the car, it drove fine, for 20 minutes. Then I notice the parking-brake is mal-adjusted and I cannot pull the handle high enough to get a firm stop. THEN all of a sudden the car isn't stopping properly anymore. I thought it was the rain and wet asphalt triggered the Anti-Lock, it went kabam, kabam, kabam. But another 20 minutes and I realized the brakes are no good, and my car is not stopping properly. This would have already caused an ACCIDENT if I was in traffic. Another 5 minutes after that and the brake pedal is sinking all the way to the floor. I took the car to Hing next day. He YAWNED with indifference and said "ok. yawn, leave it". Fact is I could NOT just leave it, because I had done my car rentals and logistics YESTERDAY and was not ready to do that AGAIN. He had ZERO concern that I had just paid $1,650 and other costs, for nothing more than to be screwed over. So I said I had better drive onwards and get help somewhere else. He just said "OK". I went to the dealer, Rodland Toyota Everett, and they said "Holy Cow, that is urgent, and we will look immediately, and we don't need an appointment because this is a SAFETY ISSUE". They found that Hing's lazy mechanic had not bled the brakes. BUT they said the reason is the bleed-screw on the back of the caliper, had rusted solid. So they would need to replace 1 caliper. I said replace both calipers, dealer said OK. This will cost ANOTHER $ 900. So that is why Hing's lazy mechanic sent me away with a dangerous car, and air in the brake lines, is the caliper bleed-screw couldn't be opened. BUT I had told Hing, my checkbook was wide open and to replace anything that needs replacement. The dealer also said there are delays on Toyota parts, due to supply chain issues, so I would be in a rented Toyota 4-Runner for a total of 5 days, at $100/day. I am still in the rental on Monday. And I asked the manager could he help me on that, he said, "no sweat I will waive all your rental fees". I will never return to BTS, unless its to receive a refund. I am also horrified that Hing never asked me, if I want genuine Toyota parts? Of course I do. I don't want to pay for imitation parts, and I would have paid the extra if he had asked, which he should have. I guess Hing has all his houses, collector cars, and tropical vacations all paid for, so he doesn't care about his customers anymore. read more

I needed the HID headlights replaced in my mother's 2008 Toyota Prius. Toyota specialists replaced both HID bulbs for the going rate of $440. They did the job in less than 1 hour. I don't lnow if they removed the front bumper like YouTube says must be done? I check the headlight operation. looked good. But when I opened the hood, they had broken plastic fasteners and left the plastic parts flapping. I brought this to the mechanic's attention. He said they must have been broken when I brought the car in. No. he went and checked with the technician that did the work, came back and said that the fasteners had broken. Then he tried to hand me some snap in faste from his back office, but they were too large and did not fit the radiator plastic cover holes. He didn't want to fix the loose cover that his technician left flapping there. I went next door, 50 ft away, and found some snap-in fasteners for $6. Fixed it myself. You would have thought for $440 they would go next door for some parts to do the job RIGHT. Who knows what else was left loose. read more

I always come here to get my oil change done. I prefer to go to a place locally owned and run rather than to the toyota dealership. Service is quick and efficient and reasonably priced. You're able to sit in the office while you wait for your car. If you have other things to do, they'll give you a call when it's tim to return. It's rare to find auto mechanics who are honest, competent and polite. Bothell Toyota Specialists are just that! I moved here from Oakland and was looking for a good mechanic. We have an older Lexus SUV and a Toyota Tercel. The dealers (both for Lexus and Toyota) are good and honest---but they charge alot. I got BTS's number from a friend who takes his cars there. These guys are great--they are extremely honest and they don't try to make you pay for things you don't need. There prices are ALWAYS better than the dealer. I started taking my cars to them for major jobs-break pads and rotars, new starter, spark plugs etc. But there prices are even better for oil changes (at least better than Jiffy Lube and those 30 minute oil change shops. Plus there is zero upsell on things. Save yourself the headache and just go with them! You won't regret it! read more

It is very clear that this shop is serious about providing quality work, great service and decent prices. Sonny was very polite, friendly and appeared to love his job. I appreciate the fact that they called me to verify I knew my CRV required synthetic oil and what the cost would be out the door. I already knew this prior to call, but really appreciate they wanted to make sure I knew what the price would be before they completed any work. The lobby is rather small and older looking, so I advise if you are waiting for your car to just go over to Dairy Queen , get a soda and enjoy free soda refills while you wait for your car to be done... It is difficult to give any automotive repair shop a 5 star rating. But the folks at Bothell Toyota specialists deserve this commendation. I purchased a 2002 Lexus es300 for my son. And soon, the car developed a knock sensor problem. I hired a guy to do the job for me at home and he fried the engine and had to do a complete engine swap on it. Oh boy! Then the problems started unraveling after spending nearly $1500. I decided to park the car for a whole year. I got myself together financially, thinking it was going to be another arm and leg expense. Then a friend told me to give the folks at Bothell toyota specialists a try. I was skeptical at first and then I called and explained my issues. The car wasn't running, so I rowed it to them. The guys explained it perfectly well to me and pointed out exactly what the engine swap had done to my car. But added that there was hope because after getting the car started, they realized that several sensors were loose and some connections undone. However, the sensors were all new and didn't need to be replaced!!!! This is unbelievable because most shops would have charged you but use you old part and not replace them. They are very folks doing great work here in the Bothell mill creek area. These guys got my son's car running on my budget. No extra charges and nothing unexpected. As advised by them, I had to drive the car for a couple of days and then return for what we all knew was going to happen; the knock sensor problem resurfaced. They readjusted and secured it up pretty tightly. Now for the past 3 weeks, my car drives smoothly without issues! Have had a very good experience every time I've gone over the past year. I was tired of dealership prices and pushing things I needed to get "fixed" unnecessarily or too early. Now, my two toyotas are running great, I know I can get an oil change for half the price than the dealer or jiffy lube, while at the same time I know these guys are Toyota specialists, not just because of the name, but because they were immediately able to spot things that the dealer did not notice a day prior , like the leak I had from my water pump. Finally it's nice to go for an oil change, have them check the whole car and leave just paying for that oil change (no gimmicks, no guilt trips to change other things unnecessarily) . Now when they tell me something needs to be changed I trust them and just get it done. That's peace of mind for my car AND for my wallet! read more

I have been here numerous times, Sonny and his staff are the best in this area! One of the benefits of going here is that they allow you to bring your own parts if you so desire, few shops let you do that. Pricing is on par with shops in the area and they stand behind their work 100% I've let them do everything from oil changes to swapping a engine and changing the clutch on my 1993 Celica. They recently installed a new high performance exhaust on my 1991 MR2 also. I cannot recommend them enough, very honest, gets the job done, and reasonable prices. Driving to work yesterday, I pulled out to pass someone on 405 and whrrrrrrr! the clutch on the '97 T-100 let me know it was time. At 195,000 miles, I guess it had just about had enough. :) I learned about Hing, Sonny and Liu(?) through my "ace-in-my-pocket" Toyota magic man, and they came well recommended. I gave the shop a call around 8 this morning, expecting to have to wait for a few days to get in, and then them saying that they'd need a couple of days to do the work. I talked to Sonny, and he said that could do it today, and turn it around same-day. I was literally speechless. I had the truck to them around 9, they got me a ride home, and the truck was back in the driveway before 6pm. _AMAZING_ Doing a clutch is labor intensive, so to comment on pricing isn't fair, but they're reasonable and definitely "in the ballpark". Clean shop, clean guys, they kept in touch with me during the day, and the work was perfect. I do a lot of my own work on the trucks, but for something like this, it just makes sense to find someone to do it for you. HIGHLY recommended! read more

Despite the name they do actually work on cars other than Toyota's as they were able to figure out why my engine light was on and fix my Nissan Altima. Plus, it's in a mall so for quick things like an oil change you can totally call ahead and drop off your car then go to lunch and pick it up when you're done. And even charge cheaper than most places which makes them pretty legit. Had my car towed there for a short day , and they let me parked my car there to be towed to another company! helpful people. I would give them zero stars if I could. I almost ended up not purchasing a very good condition used car because of them. A place that calls itself "Toyota specialists" could not figure out how to remove the back seats in a Sienna. I had taken that car for a pre purchase inspection to these guys as they were close to the dealer. They said seat back seems jammed and may be a costly repair. They also said a few other things were potentially not in good shape. They never bothered to pull up the car's records to see that all major service had been done on the car. I took back the car to the dealer and they were able to remove the seat in less than 60 seconds. The dealer also gave me a 30 day guarantee, so I went with my judgement and purchased the car. Next day I took it to my usual mechanic and the car checked out perfectly fine. I usually go to places with 4 star reviews or more and that is how I chose to go to Bothell Toyota "Specialists". I was very disappointed by this place and certainly would not trust my Toyota to these guys ever! read more
