Kimlin Propane - Notice there is no Propane Tank to the right of the Oil Tank.

    Kimlin Propane

Office staff (Tara) in Red Hook was GREAT.... but that's it. Had appointment this morning for a…read morePropane Tank placement between 9-10am. Come 12 noon, still no one here. Tried calling local office, no answer, called main number and after listening to a large amount of good music, Lori calls dispatch and tells me they are SO sorry, they got called to an emergency this morning. You think I would I received a phone call- no! Sad that now I might have to continue my search for a Propane and Oil Company.

We have a small (24 gallon) tank that we use only for our stove. Because we use propane very…read moreslowly, it seems that Kimlin thinks it's OK to charge us a $73 "Minimum Usage Fee." We didn't order propane within the time they think we should have, so they charged us $73. For NOTHING. They charge you for ordering propane, and they charge you for NOT ordering propane. And then, on top of that, I called them this past Monday (04.16.18) to order propane (we ran out on Sunday - there's no gauge on the tank, so you don't know you're out until you're out) and was told it would be Tuesday, 04.24.18 (8 days later) before they delivered to us, even though we were out of propane. They VERY helpfully pointed out that if we paid $150 extra, we could get a same day delivery, and for $80 extra, a next-day delivery. When I complained, I was told that "we like our customers to order more when they get below 25% in their tanks." I responded by saying, "There is no way to know how much is in our tank, since it has no gauge on it. How could I know when I'm below 25%?" The response: "Well, that's just how it is." And this is after having paid the $73 fee FOR NOTHING (because they wouldn't deliver propane without us paying that), we're told that we have to go 8 days without being able to cook unless we fork over more $$$. Today, I spoke to a manager named Angel who yelled at me when I questioned their business practices and said that if I didn't get the promise of a delivery before the end of the week and the "minimum usage fee" applied to my propane order, I would be taking my business elsewhere, post-haste. I told him that I'd be dropping off their propane tank and he again yelled, telling me that I could not do that and I had to let them pick it up and that there would be a $400 "restocking" fee for them picking it up. They are never getting another penny of my money, and I'm going to tell everyone I meet about how lousy their service is. Not that I need to, since almost every review you can find for Kimlin is extremely negative. If I could give them fewer than 1 star, I would. They deserve zero, or perhaps -3 stars. If only.

I have advocated as positive as I can for Bottini while not lowering my score for them, however…read moreyesterday this weekend was not necessary. As a customer I am on a fixed payment plan and locked in pricing, I agree to delivery on their schedule using their forecasting tool that tells them what my tank should read. It has never been accurate, in fact as of this weekend it was off by 25%. Now this is important as you get close to needing fuel. It they have me higher then I will run out if I trust their forecasting, but I can upgrade for $150 to a digital that they can monitor in real time. This has led me to have many conversations, especially when doing a contract. I make sure it is okay to call in a request and not go by fate of the oil gods. It is never an issue. They even have a spot in the app that you can do that for that reason. EVERY time, someone tells me I do not need a delivery. Every time, I have to call and explain - this is what my gauge reads. I know you service a huge client base. I am sending an awareness message as at times it can take a week or more to get on a delivery schedule. Oh, okay. Saturday, I was told my tank is not as low as I said. Excuse me? I'm looking at it. Well, what changed? Perhaps the 20 degree temperatures and single to teen overnight lows? The month prior we were 30/40 degree days and 20 overnights. Maybe I am using more hot water? Who cares. You don't need a delivery as you should only use 10 gallons a day. Well, if you need us to deliver this week or keep calling we can remove you from fixed pricing and terminate your contract. We cannot just add you to our delivery as emergent as there are people who need oil more! No one asked to be added to todays cycle or even this weeks. I sent a request indicated the tank level which is an option. You determine when to place me into rotation knowing that your forecast is incorrect. That's not how it works. We can charge you full price. Manager, Dana was no more helpful - coming out the gates very smug unless that's her speaking tone always to which, yikes. Basically I can deliver on Thursday or she can cancel your contract. This being my option because when an agent threatens to cancel my fixed pricing or contract, I asked to speak to a supervisor. Dana went on to tell me I abuse the system by calling in a request and that they never fill my tank completely and that I waste their time when drivers could be servicing those in need. It didn't matter I was told I should call when the tank is at 3/8 to 1/4 to let them know to get me adjusted in the schedule. It doesn't matter that they are given the precise level and can determine where I should fit in the delivery schedule. It also doesn't matter that this is only a winter issue and in the summer they use their forecast and have delivered a few times when my tank was more than 50%. Manager Kelly was more helpful and notated my account that I can call in and that they can determine when to schedule as I have never demanded a deliver within a day, I am merely saying I need one with the next weeks. I was told that more home owners should be like me and give an appropriate heads up as they no rally get people without oil in emergency. If that's the case, then why did everyone before argue me? Between being threatened to be cancelled, having a driver tell me that they would not deliver because my drive way a sheet of ice in which I sent real time pictures and there was one area of wet slush on a 40 degree day, and a propane tank that was leaking for a week before I was taken seriously that my tank smelled and something was wrong, a technician charging me to turn a screw that my wife said I could handle later but it's not a problem he was in the radiator but conveniently forgot to mention if he turned the screw 1/8 of a turn and then back this was a full service charge - I think it's time for management to really listen to their customer experience.

Absolutely terrible company. Hidden fees, harassment, aggressive and deceptive practices.read more
