From the very first visit, this team has proven they know exactly what they're doing. I remember a Q&A session between my husband and the company and from there, their focus shifted to identifying the root cause of a sulfur/rotten egg smell coming from every hot water faucet in our new home. They conducted a thorough investigation, diagnosed the underlying issue and recommended a treatment plan tailored to fully eliminate the odor. Since June '23, their technicians have been on point- responsive, knowledgeable and consistent. We also decided to invest in a specialized water filtration system as part of a more thorough solution, not just for odor elimination, but for long-term peace of mind and health reasons. I mean...who would want to bathe in, brush teeth and cook with water that has a fart smell??? David came out on a Thursday back in '23 for a follow-up and took the time to inspect everything thoroughly and confirm that the new system- from the pipes to the additional components installed earlier that summer were operating properly. By late August of that year, we saw major progress and the sulfur smell was completely gone. We signed up for a maintenance plan because we want continued oversight to ensure everything stays in excellent condition. The service has been outstanding and the price goes hand in hand with the tremendous work these guys do. I recently moved to the area and needed plumbing done for a complete bathroom remodel. Rice provided a competitive estimate and came over a couple of times before the job started to help advise me, which was really helpful. RJ was the lead technician on the job and he was respectful, hardworking, and personable. He was assisted by Dylan and Sam, both of who were equally as professional. The job was pretty involved and they stayed with me through the thick (I'd ordered the wrong part) and thin (they had to take a few weeks off due to COVID exposure). The job wasn't without some bumps, and I'm glad I was around to oversee everything. The 5 stars is due to great customer service and a commitment to making sure I was happy with everything, even if it meant they had to come back after I'd signed off on the job, to make things right. If you're looking for a plumbing outfit that does not stand behind its work, then Rice Plumbing is perfect for you. We had them install a line for outside spigot 2 yrs ago. Their warranty for work and parts is one year. Good thing planned obsolescence is part of their business model, because after two years the work they did and the parts they used caused a huge leak in our house. and yes, we drained the lines and no they didn't freeze! It felt great paying them twice for the same job. that said, although i love throwing money out the window for shitty work, i probably will go with someone else next time. side note. when we all complain about why america is going to shit, look no further than the people we hire who are supposed to stand behind the work they do - probably the same folks you might overhear at a bbq saying how nobody works anymore and waving that american flag! is it really worth $370.00 to lose a customer for life? Rice Plumbing thinks so. I would never recommend Rice plumbing for any new systems installations. They improperly installed a number of units into my household: no professional should install compressors sitting on the ground (come on guys). Additionally, a central AC unit that we purchased and installed was low quality and temperamental. In my opinion they sell unreliable units. read more

I had recently swapped out gas lines from one tank to another not knowing I had disrupted service to my boiler .I tried two re boot and trouble shoot it my self but hit a wall ..I called rice and immediately the phone was answered on the 1st ring. they scheduled an appointment at my convenience ..they showed up on time and figured out the problem and explained to me where I fell short so that way in the future I could reboot it my self .they also took the time to explain to me how to properly maintain my boiler during the winter months..on top of all that the price was reasonable ..I am a general contractor down in the city and know good work and good workers when I see it .thanks guys read more

Rice plumbing is a very good company, but they don't have time to do small work. If you have a large job, or an emergency, they call you back. If it's a small non critical job, crickets. Even calling them a couple times, no call back. Whether they are good or not, if they don't call you back unless it's a big enough job- I don't need them. read more

They opened up an office in Boiceville which is the location I called bcs I'm in Phoenicia. I had what I thought was a main clogged septic line, easily fixed with a snake. I called late at night, they are open 24/7. Samantha answered and she was willing to come right out but I decided it could hold off until the next day. She scheduled me for early afternoon and ..get this...they showed early afternoon !! Showing up on time or even the same day is practically unheard of out here. So I'm already impressed. From the way I described the problem , She had highly suggested that I open up the top to the septic tank so she could get a snake and or a camera in there to see the problem. Well it was no easy fix ..Turns out the outside pipe had been improperly installed one of the connections separated and rocks had entered and blocked it off. They were able to determine that with the camera. Samantha came the next morning, as scheduled,( my caretaker had already dug up the pipe ) and she put a new PVC down with a clean out access. Excellent work, Samantha is great!! 100% recommend them. I also had her look at my multiple heating systems which need cleaning and servicing so that'll be next on the schedule and then I should be good for the winter. read more

These guys not only charged me an excessive price but they installed a combination unit that takes over a minute for hot water to come out of the pipes when I explicitly asked for something faster and was assured this would be the unit which justified the price tag. They even came to my house and agreed it was taking way too long. I've called repeatedly to address this over the last 2 months and have been ignored. Do not trust them. read more

I've read the other reviews and I must say my experience was completely different. Every time I have called they have been super courteous. When repair was needed they were professional and quick. John is a good guy there and is always communicative and helpful. I wasn't even mad about the cost. I took a star away because it did take a follow up call or two for final completion but it wasn't that big of a deal to me. read more

We contacted Rice Plumbing & Heating about installing a floor level toilet, a new water pressure tank and a whole house line filter system. Not only did Rice P&H complete the job ahead of schedule, they were very efficient, courteous and professional. Their office staff were very courteous and helped manage our appointment and kept us up to date. The price on the work was reasonable as well and they were able to attain the needed parts quite quickly. Called them to install an I Spring whole house water filtration system. They came at the appointed time and I was expecting a quote. After 2 weeks, there was no quote after several calls. If they were not interested in the job, they should just say so. If you are a potential customer, ask for a quote in writing on the spot. I will go with another plumber for my install. read more

Made an appointment with a 3 hour window. Waited over 3 hr. 45 minutes-plumber was a no show. No call Letting me know what was going on. Called twice-was told they left a message with the technician. 25 minutes later and still no call on the status. Ended up cancelling after blowing the entire afternoon waiting. I have used Rice Plumbing on three separate occasions. One was an emergency, frozen pipes flooding my basement. And they came immediately to fix the problem. The other times were just short of emergencies. A blocked drain and a well tank that needed to be replaced. Both times they came when they said they would, fixed the problems, charged me fairly, and were glad to explain everything to me. I recommend them highly. read more

I have just had my fourth service call from Rice Plumbing over the last ten years. As with previous calls, they came promptly and fixed the problem -- a burst pipe in my basement due to the sub-freezing weather. Previous calls have been for another burst pipe, a clogged drain that ultimately required a new dry well ( a big job), and replacement of a water tank. In every case I felt that they charged me fairly. They explained everything they were doing and advised me on how to improve maintenance so the problems would not recur. They always came when they said they would. It's hard to find trustworthy and dependable repair services, and I have come to trust Rice Plumbing. I will continue to do business with them. read more

I used Rice Plumbing in 2010 when we lost water pressure between the house and the well's pressurized storage tank. I had just sold the place and needed this to be right for the new owners. Rice discovered a leak in the line and got a backhoe in to dig up a trench and lay a new pipe. I was pleased until I discovered a drip from a valve that they had just installed the day before. They charged me for a service call to come out and fix it! That left a bad taste and made me question the whole process. It was most unpleasant. read more
