How have I lived here my whole life and only just now popped into Bottlecraft? We came on a Friday when they were doing tastings from a Sonoma winery (wish I remembered the name!). The guy pouring was so nice and knowledgeable. We liked the wine so much we grabbed a bottle and decided to drink it there. Added bonus: since it was one of the featured wines, the corkage was free. Bottlecraft is a bottle shop, bar, and cheese shop all in one small, perfectly curated space. They have a lovely outdoor seating area and some indoor seating as well. There are TVs inside, so we were able to catch some exciting March Madness moments while we hung out. When we paid, the host was super friendly and brought us a little ice bucket to keep our chilled wine cold, along with two glasses, and let us choose any table we wanted. They have a wide selection of beers on tap, plus tons of bottles and cans to go. I also appreciate the large section of canned mocktails and NA beers -- love seeing that. They carry wine, beer, vermouth, and more. In the back, tucked away, is Venissimo Cheese, which is amazing. You can order cheese plates, sandwiches, and other goodies to enjoy with your drinks. I've never been a big beer fan as I only really like sours and good ones are not easy to find. However, this place has a pretty fun collection of sour beers to try! It's especially nice that they have beers from a lot of small business breweries. My guy and I got a bunch of different beers to try and they've been a hit or miss overall. They now have both indoor and outdoor seating, which makes it a great spot to actually hang out instead of just grabbing something to go. You can order beer or wine from their draft list and enjoy it there, or grab a bottle off the shelf and have them open it for you. Of course, you can also stock up and take everything home. Their beer selection is always impressive, with a wide range of styles and hard to find bottles, and the wine selection holds its own too. The staff is super knowledgeable and friendly. Bonus: Venissimo is inside the store, so you can order grilled cheeses and enjoy them with your drink. A solid beer and a perfectly melty grilled cheese is hard to beat. Perfect first Mother's Day! Sat outside with my husband and ordered a few beers + charcuterie. The beers were excellent - ranging from a blonde, stout, and a nice cider! While walking around in North Park, my friend was craving a snack so we ducked in here to check it out. What I did not realize is this is a tasting room, craft beer shop and bar. Bottlecraft was founded in 2011 by Brian Jensen. Here you can find the craft beers you crave but are not are always able to find where you shop. Craft beer is sold in bottles, cans and packs of four to six. They have been recognized by many top publications as being of the best bottle shops in the country. As I walked around and browsed I wasn't really looking for beer but when I saw a four pack of Saison Dupont I got excited. This is one of my favorite Belgian Farmhouse Ales and indeed it is not easy to find. I thought well since I am here I might as well pick some up to take home and so glad I did. There were so many other craft beers to choose from, I could have easily bought more. In addition to the all the beer, they have a great selection of non alcoholic craft beer. The staff is super knowledgeable if you have any questions or concerns. If you wish to drink here since the bar is here. There is a deli in the back where my friend managed to score some tasty meat and cheese bites to nosh on while we walked around the neighborhood. This place is an absolute blast and a gem! You can purchase bottles to go or drink them on site, how cool is that! They have a great range of beer on taps from well known breweries like Side Project. I've never seen a place like this before! It's small and cozy and I absolutely love it. The most memorable person on my California trip is the staff member Greg from Manchester. He welcomed us warmly and full of fun energy. He's a guy I would have a beer with any day of the week. There were a few regulars in there just shooting the time with him and I can see why. This is THE place to go for San Diego beer. So many hard to find beers some of which are even out of stock at the original brewery. They also have a wide selection of non-alcoholic craft beverages and you are guaranteed to find something good for everyone in your family regardless of their tastes and preferences. Seriously, almost none of their beers rate below a 4.0 on Untappd. If you've searched beers on Untappd you know that quite a number of beers don't make it past 3.9. A couple of 4.3 and 4.4+ gems in their selection too. The location that we went to in Liberty Station is also amazing because of the wide array of food stalls right next door. Incredibly rude staff. 01/03:25 at 9:30-10:00pm--female and male clerks/servers. We were told not to open a spirit purchased while sitting outside with friends by the female server. We all obliged and did not open the spirit. As we sat outside we discussed our dissatisfaction and confusion over liquor licenses--unrelated to anyone working inside. The male server came out and said "if you all want to keep talking sh***, then leave and please never come back." After he said that he "clocked out" and stuck around 30 mins and stating that his supervisor would be upset if he didnt, We all were rather speechless as opening the drink should have been the problem, but we didn't and to sitting outside speaking to each other while the clerks are inside and not able to hear our conversation (and shouldn't matter) is impressive to come outside where we are sitting and tell my friends and I to never return. This was a fun spot to visit as a North Park resident--but i cant see myself returning after such experience with staff. While the outside ambiance is traffic and people watching with the occasional mentality ill/drug induced yells from unhoused persons, the selection and quality of this shop was pretty good. We didn't love the wine by the glass options (objective taste) but you can buy a bottle and take what you don't finish home. They also have beer. This was nice to chill and have a little social. My wife and I and Brother-in-law and sister were on vacation in San Diego, and they took us to the best beer place in San Diego. It is in a cool neighborhood and we actually went twice in one week. They also have taps you so you can have a beer while you walk around the place and I ordered 2 IPAs and another beer for my sister while I was there. Great selection too. They have a ton of beers in the coolers, including Pliny the Elder, one of the best beers in America from Russian River. We got about ten beers each time so we could sample them at night. There is also a great cheese shop at the back of the massive collection of beers store. We got some cheese to go with our beer samplers, including our favorite, Ewephoria, so good. The staff was excellent the two times we went, and we talked with a guy from the UK that was super great to talk to. You have to stop here when you are in San Diego. Go to Pretzels and Pints while you are there for lunch, great place for a meal with another set of good taps! read more

San Diego might not have anything as huge, comprehensive, and reasonably priced as Total Wine and More, but this beer shop just might make up for it. Bottlecraft is a local chain of alcohol shops that offers a relatively modest but awesome selection of craft beers. This location is in the North Park neighborhood, not far from some popular restaurants, bars and breweries. We actually walked over from the Modern Times Flavordome about half a mile away, and I'd just enjoyed from beers there, so I can't report comprehensively on what I saw available for sale here. However, I did get a strong impression that they offer a solid variety of beer bottles and cans from both local breweries and not-as-local beermakers, in all sorts of styles. You won't find mass-market lagers here though, fortunately. You may see a few wines, and you'll actually spot some cheeses and wines too. I also observed that they have 12 beer taps (featuring local and non-local selections) and a varied selection of pour volumes. They'd actually posted a brand new rotation as of the day following my visit, and I've seen interesting beers in the past here (CBS ring a bell, anyone?) so I was actually looking forward to seeing what was on tap tonight. I took it easy on myself and got local brewer Pizza Port's Bacon & Eggs in a 4 oz pour ($3). This is a very reasonable price, and perhaps the cashier-beertender employee person was generous because he made this pour in a standard-sized (way larger) glass. The beer itself is an "Imperial Coffee Porter," Imperial more or less meaning strong, coffee being the main flavor focus, and porter being the dark, heavy style of ale of which the popular stouts are a substyle. This particular beer surprisingly did remind me of bacon and eggs, particularly the smokiness of the bacon. Otherwise, it's a delicious coffee porter in its own right, among the best which I've tried. Note to self: try more Pizza Port brews... Perhaps I'll be able to make Bottlecraft a quick stop during my future visits to San Diego. I tend to hop around a lot, but having some hops here if I should venture to North Park would likely be a wise use of time as long as I stay interested in the whole craft beer thing. read more

Not a huge location but don't let that fool you. This place has an amazing variety of alcoholic beverages. They also have a cheese shop located inside that seemed really popular. The store is set up so that the drinks along the walls in fridges are sorted by type of beverage (lager, stout, sours, ciders, etc.). Then in the middle are shelves of beverages that are sorted by region and unrefrigerated. I love that bottlecraft always has a lot of local breweries offered. You can purchase in packs or by the can which is nice if you want to try something new but not fully commit. The staff was super friendly when I asked for drink recommendations as well. Definitely recommend checking this place out. Only downside is that parking is pretty hard to find since this location is right in the heart of North Park. read more

This dude was so nervous he couldn't even hear me. I had to think did I walk into a private event (done that before) nope, this guy just fell off a truck from 100 years ago. So I say again do you have any root beer the only reason I came in was because they had a section that said soda. So I though they would have at least 1 root beer or 1 ginger beer that I had never seen before. Sadly they did not - only had 1 of each and the dude still worried I'm going to do something he started talking to me as if I never had root beer before or ginger beer! Telling me that Bundaberg and CockNBull are really good. Being that I'm from Los Angeles and I've lived in Hollywood you ass I know more about the restaurant and ginger beer JM made but because of my hair cut I just smile and nod. This place did have a line of California Chocolate from a company I did not know so I bought almost every flavor they had and I still left the dude a tip. I hand the dude my card, Then this dude asks me for ID like in the "can I see your badges" kind of way I guess my hair cut didn't lend it self to have that kind of card. Well that was my experience to the tune of $25 great chocolate common Rootbeer and an ol'fave from Hollywood. As I didn't personally go here but had a friend stop by to grab me some goodies to bring back to Texas, I have nothing but great things to say. It's hard to get great beers where I live and the staff that happened to be more than accommodating over speaker phone helped me gain those goodies. This is a really cute spot in the north park area to grab a glass of wine or shop around for some spirits to take back home. There was a really wide selection of beers and IPA's to choose from. The vibes were really nice and the staff was super friendly. My friends and I came here for a casual evening glass of wine and everything was very reasonably priced. I've walked past this place many times before actually going in. At first glance, it just looks like a store front but they had a really cute patio area to sit, relax, chat, and enjoy your drinks! Walking into this store, it's insane how many different beers and wines they have. They have super obscure beers that I've never even heard of. Also, they have beers that I've been looking for, for years but never found them again until now. The beers are separated into categories so the beer you're seeking is easy to find. They have stouts, IPAs, blondes, etc. There is an entire wall of refrigerated beers and also a bunch of shelves stocked with room temperature beers. In the back, there is an absurd selection of cheeses. They pretty much had every cheese I've ever heard of and some I've never heard of. You can try any of the cheeses, create your own meat n cheese tray, or even order a sandwich. On the other side of the beer shelves, there are even more shelves stocked with wine. Their wine selection is also pretty impressive. What's cool is that you can drink any of the beers or wines, but they just charge you a cheap corking fee.
