Cava Rosè
Maria B.

A friend and I walked to this wine bar after a workout. We walked in and looked at the menu and decided on our order. They are a small space but I felt there were was a good amount of seating and seating outside. There us a wall of wines to purchase and a huge fridge of cheeses. They also serve non-alcoholic wine. We ordered a cava rosè, mini charcuterie board, and a flat bread. We opted to sit outside considering we just worked out. The sever was great and engaged in conversation. Showed us a selection of wines and helped us with our decision on the charcuterie board. There was another woman working and she was friendly and conversational. I would definitely come back and enjoy more wines and a larger board.

Had a fun time here for trivia and games with friends in an intimate setting. Wines and charcuterie were very tasty, but the star was the triple G sandwich, amazing!

East Village, casual hangout for locals. if you are a wine lover and enjoy small bites. Custom charcuterie boards The owners are very warm and welcoming, and the staff is helpful The boards are curated with cheeses and meats from around the world. Small boards can be made swiftly for last minute get togethers. For larger events, you can order an event tray in advance for pickup. Stopped in for a glass of wine and the grilled cheese! Perfect. It's a cute shop with a chill ambiance. They have wines by the glass and the bottle. They have an amazing selection!

We loved this cozy wine and cheese bar. They have great selection of wine and cheese, the charcuterie board looked delicious. The new owners are so friendly and made sure that we were having a good time. I loved the interior and realized that it's a nice spot to hang out with friends too. They also organize jewelry workshops, trivia night etc so looking forward to go back there again soon. Highly recommend this place!

I saw this place while we were looking for parking and I had to stop by based on the name. We decided to get shareable charcuterie for 2 $28 and an extra 1/2 lb of prosciutto. Service was great, the person working there explained all the meats and cheeses going into our charcuterie box. She was very friendly. My only complaint would be the portions of the shareable charcuterie box. We will definitely be back but we will buy things by 1/2 lb. There wasn't any music playing so there was a few awkward moments of silence.

Some folks in the neighborhood might know this as "hot dog/speak easy" but now it's a quaint sip and sit charcuterie bar. At Le Charcuterie Bar they curate a charcuterie experience just for you. We stopped here after the season finale of the Padres game and to celebrate my birthday. We were looking for a place to just grab a quick drink before heading home. Heather, the owner, greeted us and explained how the charcuterie bar works. So you select your wine or beer from their selection and then they intentionally pair your cheese and meat to your beverage for the optimal experience. Tonight I had a moscato and my fiancé had the Bario Logan Mexican lager and Heather put together a paring that included I believe a Mimolette, a California Swiss, some duck salami, a nice semi soft creamy cheese in the back. Heather also explained that all their wines and beers are small producers from women or minority owned business; and either sustainable production or working on sustainable growing. So these aren't going to be beverages you can get at your big chain stores. They also travel around the world and US to source their cheese straight from the source instead of going through a chain market. Their meats are locally sourced as well. All of their staff are experts at cultivating a thoughtful wine and cheese pairings. They also have an opportunity to order party trays, curated gift boxes, and even working on adult "lunchabIes"; for which will perfect Petco Park picnics I admit that I'm not a connoisseur of cheese and good with name but this makes me want to be

Absolutely a wonderful addition to the neighborhood! Great wine and the cheese selection is wonderful! Beautifully decorated, air conditioned and a sexy vibe for a date, wine and charcuterie with friends or even to pop by on your own. There's always fun people to meet there.

So I turned around and stopped in. What I found was a quaint, tucked-away, almost inconspicuous spot delivering food and hospitality at a level that honestly borders on absurd for how unassuming it appears from the outside. The service was warm, polished, and intuitive without ever feeling pretentious. Hats off to both chefs, Christi and Mark for making me feel welcome. The wine pairings? Thoughtful, balanced, and exactly what you hope for from a restaurant that actually respects food. And then there's the burger. This thing reads like poetry: Ribeye and NY strip trim blend, cooked like a proper steak (medium rare, the only correct answer here), melted gouda, a soft house potato roll, all resting in a luxurious bordelaise sauce that would make a French chef nod in approval. Seriously. This is not a "burger joint burger." This is a chef-driven, butcher-minded expression of beef. Every bite tastes intentional. The bordelaise underneath ties the entire thing together with this deep, glossy richness that elevates it from comfort food into something bordering on fine dining. Places like this are why I still love discovering restaurants organically. No hype machine. No gimmicks. Just confidence, technique, restraint, and execution. This very unassuming little spot has Michelin written all over it.

The staff is entitled, upright and annoying. They don't have a proper waiting list system. You can't pay with your cc, only zelle and or venmo. Juan Jaspar is VERY dog friendly, like over the top. There's literally more dogs than people. They have sketchy chairs outside for you to wait until their heart desires. One tip for this desperate little place: time your tables to 90 mins max. You don't have the square footage nor the grit to keep it up. I do not recommend this place to myself nor anyone else. I am banning myself indefinitely from Juan Jaspar. Trust your gut people. I said I wouldn't go back and I did. That was mi mal.

Wait outside on the sidewalk (no exterior seating) and someone will come to take you inside. Do not ring the door bell. The theme is to take it slow. Each customer typically waits 20-30 minutes to enter as part of how they do things, even if there is open seating inside. Not sure if they use a timer to space entries but it seems consistent. They take one group in at a time. Interior: A few tables around the wall and then bar seating. Would not recommend for parties greater than 2, there just isn't the space. They welcome service animals, babies/children and strollers from what I observed. The music was very, very loud. It was difficult to hold a conversation. I did not see a bathroom. Ordering process: After seating you wait for a little bit for them to bring small water cups and a QR menu with a table number and a set of rules. They do not have a physical menu, you must use your phone to order. Cell phone reception was dicey and took a long time to load. They have an interesting concept where you have a digital 'tab' open on their toast website. Unfortunately you must provide your full name, email and phone number. They have pour over drinks (note these can take 15-20 minutes), matcha, Hojicha and others. You may only order one drink per person at a time. They have a small snack menu with rotating foods. They use oat milk only. No substitutions allowed. After mobile ordering, drinks take 20-30 minutes as part of their take it slow vibe. Matcha $8 is from Paru tea and was very good. Hojicha $8 was too milky and didn't have a strong enough flavor. When you are done you walk to the register by the door and wait to be checked out. If they are making a drink you wait until they are finished. I wasn't really a fan. Staff were brusque. Music was too loud to converse.

We ordered a bottle of prosecco. "Let's celebrate the end of the school year!" We also ordered a chicken empanada and a mushroom empanada...both very good! The pickled vegetables were delicious too! Our waitress was a total superstar and took great care of us with service and answering questions. We even joked about Star Trek a bit. I ordered the Rose salad and some roasted potatoes (Bravas Rosas). The potatoes were really delicious and well-seasoned with crunchy and soft parts and a nice spicy dipping sauce. I wanted to love the salad because it was large and well-dressed, BUT the lettuce was gritty and could've used a more thorough rinse. I ended up not eating much of it because the texture wasn't good. One of my friends got the Rose Salad Pie which she really enjoyed (basically a pizza with Rose Salad on top) and my other friend got the gazpacho which really liked. I would definitely come back and try some other dishes. If I do, I'll update the review!

I was meeting up with a former student who is vegetarian, and there were a number of dishes on the menu that I felt he'd like. One of my favorites, the shrimp scampi. is no longer on the menu. I also felt that I was eating healthier which would be great to do this summer...for real! LOL! Tay got the cauliflower cerviche which was delicious! I don't know what kind of wizardry is happening behind that bar, but these were hands down the best I've ever had. Crisp, balanced, refreshing--like if a spa day and a cocktail had a baby. Had a few (for research purposes, obviously), and every single one hit. Brunch? Oh, they didn't come to play. The lemon poppy seed pancakes... I'm still thinking about them. Actually, I might never stop thinking about them. Fluffy, citrusy, just the right amount of sweet these pancakes didn't just raise the bar, they are the bar now. Then the breakfast sandwich... listen. This thing had range. Savory, a little sweet, perfectly balanced like it went to culinary therapy. Every bite made me pause and reconsider my life choices up until that moment. Why don't I eat here every weekend? Overall, Counterpoint is that rare spot that nails everything easy parking, killer service, insane food, and drinks that make you question every other gin and tonic you've ever had. 10/10. No notes.
