Found this gem when I was exploring North Park. Had a cheese monger in the back. Tons of beers, guaranteed you'll be able to find something you like or want to try. They offer refrigerated and non-refrigerated beers. They have some beers on tap to taste (yesterday it was from Alpine brewing) or for small corkage fee you can drink whatever they have for sale in their little drinking area- I did this. They have some munchies. And the guy that was working there- Shawn, was extremely amiable and helpful. Ended up going home with a couple of cans of beer and a wooden cheeseboard. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this place! I stop in every time I'm in North Park. One of my favorite visits was an evening my hubs and I did some tasting and had a Vennissimo cheese board. That cheese board was, undoubtedly, the BEST we've ever had! It was actually a dessert after our dinner next door at Encontro. It was beautifully put together and sooooooo damn delicious! Over the years the store has evolved quite a bit, now having seating where you can pop open an interesting find with friends or even order some delicious cheese sandwiches from Venissimo (which is one of my favorite places in San Diego). While the store itself is a little small there's plenty to dig through, and the staff is very helpful and knowledgeable about what they carry. This place has been a favorite of mine to take people to since I moved to North Park 2 years ago! Not ANYMORE! The gentleman working this past Saturday night was beyond RUDE to all of us! I took 5 new people to see the amazing selection of craft drinks and the cool vibe there to be smacked down by this persons attitude multiple times! So unprofessional. We had no idea it closed at 10 and I was told to "READ the SIGN!" Maybe shut the doors if you are closed. We were celebrating our friends incredible journey of amputation and her amazing journey back to health and abilities to WALK again! And we were berated because we had all purchased a celebratory cocktail or soda to give Cheers to her journey and he later in our re visit for one of the late comers used a very upsetting tone telling us we were not allowed to enjoy the beverages we purchased outside where we were sitting. We had no idea! Why have tables to sit and enjoy? Why not have a "sign" telling us that? Why be Rude? It completely ruined our experience and now I won't be returning to what I feel was a pretty cool place! Sad read more

This bottlecraft is one of the best bottle shops I have been too! :) They have such a huge selection of beers and wines. They have so many different beers that I've never even heard of. Also they have beers that I've been looking for awhile and there is just so much to choose form! Everything is in categories so the beer you're trying to find is always easy to find. They have stouts, IPAs, blondes, sours and more! They have tons of San Diego beers plus tons of other brews! There is an entire wall of cold beers and shelves stocked with room temp beers. Besides just having beer they have a huge selection of wine too! Their wine selection is also amazing. They have tons of different California wines! :) So I found out you can drink any of the beers or wines that you buy there but they charge you a corking fee. They also have a selection of cheeses where you can do cheese tastings and also order sandwiches! The bottle/can selection was pretty good but some of the pricing seemed a bit steep. I frequently purchase craft beers so understand that prices can be higher for rare items but thought they were overly high here. While it's been long-established now that San Diego is a craft beer Mecca, a more recent development has been the emergence of North Park as a craft beer Mecca within the craft beer Mecca. On a recent weekend trip down to SD from NorCal, I made the rounds of North Park's burgeoning craft beer presence. Man cannot live on draft beer alone. OK, that's not true, at all. But 3 taprooms into an epic North Park Beer Crawl with the homebrew partner, we decided to mix things up a bit & hit up a bottle shop for the 4th stop. It wasn't a huge stretch. Bottlecraft is only around the corner & 2 blocks over from our previous stop at Hess Brewing. Bottlecraft has lots & lots of bottles & cans of many, many beers. Naturally. They're a bottle shop. But they've mixed things up a bit, too. There's also a beer tasting area, a cheese/ charcuterie section for pairing with beer, & 4 beers available on tap with or without cheeses specifically paired for each beer. There's a bunch of different ways to enjoy your beer at Bottlecraft. Staff was friendly & very knowledgeable of craft beer. After a lengthy amount of perusing their inventory, some tasting, & some bottle purchases, it was time for the North Park Beer Crawl to continue on. So I'm not a big beer guy and I don't know what IPA is or any of the beer language. I only came in here because of the cheese shop but I'm always willing to try some beer so that's what I did. I told the guy how I really didn't know much about beer and he helped me. They have a huge refrigerator of bottles and cans of beer so huge you could spend about 30 minutes looking around. There are also a few beers on tap so I decided to go with the Crazy Ivan on tap which I liked but I would like to try something different next time. After a long afternoon of exploring breweries and taprooms of North Park, it was time to stop by a place that has actual stuff that we can load in our luggage cases to take home to NorCal. Bottlecraft is situated right in the heart of North Park and not only has an impressive selection of bottles (most of them super fresh), but also offers few tap handles that you can enjoy in the house, and even some food (mostly cheese) pairings to go with that brew. While I didn't notice any 'whales' on the shelves or in the coolers, the selection was more than solid and we had no problem finding some SD liquid souvenirs to take home that we can't find in our part of the State. When planing a visit to North Park, Bottlecraft should be included in the plans. Not only is the location awesome but their beer and knowledgeable staff had no problem winning me over. Yey! Bottle craft has an amazing selection of beers from Gluten Free to odd imports to soda and lemonade. I just love browsing the different types Of beers and creative labels. You walk in overwhelmed almost immediately at the selection this place has. Then you stop freaking out a couple seconds after you walk because the employees are most helpful. I came in looking for a Kolsch style beer that originated in Germany. They quickly directed me to where I can find it, the background of the beer, and a few other interesting related topics about it. It really helps to have knowledgable AND friendly staff like that. Another neat thing is they know serve food here from Miho Gastrotruck. I believe they call it Juke. They offer tortas, non-alcoholic beverages, and what looked like a few different salads to me? But don't quote me on that. Pretty store, huge selection, smells so good in there. I am not at all a beer connoisseur but I like to learn about different brews and styles and origins and they guys there know it all. My friend Sandra and I were watching Brazil vs Colombia soccer match yesterday in North Park and even if we tried to avoid the beach for 4th of July, I could not resist to say yes to an impromptu invitation to a BBQ party...so beer was in need. And that is how Sandra and I ended up at Bottlecraft...just by proximity. Honestly we randomly picked beers that looked good in their package. But once Covid hit, they were one of the only businesses in the area that followed precautions (shout out to Encontro, I also saw you!)
