Nice spot right off the river. Can be a bit annoying if it's packed with ppl walking by. The service was okay but water refills took a while and sitting in the heat was uncomfortable. The guac is made table side and you can request how you'd like it. Comes with bread and butter at the table. I got the shrimp gumbo that came out hot but it was lacking in spices. The salad was great, tasted like homemade dressing. There are river tours that park or go by. Ducks that swim up. The restaurant location is nice outside. But again if there's lots of foot traffic they kind of squeeze thru.

Ate here around 1130 am on a rainy Monday, we were easily seated outside, we enjoyed the tableside guacamole, and the lunch menu which included 10 oz sirloin and the smash burger (my two kids split it). The server made our experience great, as it was an anniversary lunch and he made sure our experience was great from start to finish.

Decent service and good location, but the food was below my expectation overall. We ordered the black and white soup, prime rib and chess pie. The soup never arrived, but we didn't say anything because the prime rib with fries and veg looked like plenty of food for us. The prime rib was flavorful, and was a big portion which was expected for the $48 price tag. Veg was mid and I wasn't wowed by the seasoning on the shoestring fries. Unfortunately, I was not a fan of the lime chess pie. In general, I adore chess pies but the lime flavor just didn't pair well with the custard filling.

This place was absolutely packed and had a great energetic vibe. The dining area is a little tight, but not so cramped that you're bumping into people. I'd definitely recommend making a reservation because it gets busy fast. The prices are on the higher side, and my husband felt his Old Fashioned was a bit watered down compared to similar drinks we've had at other restaurants. On the plus side, our server was friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome throughout the meal. We ordered the pork tenderloin, ribeye, and shrimp and grits with a creamy gravy sauce. Every single dish was delicious. I'm pretty picky when it comes to steak, but the ribeye really impressed me: it was cooked perfectly and full of flavor. The shrimp and grits were another standout. The creamy sauce was rich and incredibly tasty, with just a hint of spice that added flavor without being overwhelming. As someone who doesn't enjoy very spicy food, I thought it was just right. Overall, despite the crowded atmosphere and slightly disappointing cocktail, the food was excellent and definitely the highlight of our visit. We'd happily come back for another meal.

Hard to find parking and it's expensive across the street. The take side guac was good, but was very spicy. Also there was more chips than guac. Ordered the steak frites, it was okay. The steak looked interesting. Also they brought bread and butter with your meal which is weird, should be before cause you can barely finish your food.

Our trip to Boudro's was fantastic. The inside was like a wine cellar feel. It was so clean. You could smell that staff took time to ensure the place was clean. Besides something swimming in our water and the waiter only putting more ice. The duck gumbo was FANTASTIC! I'm a gumbo snob and it was delicious. No notes. Then I had the blackened fish which was also amazing. The potatoes could have been cooked harder and the spinach a little longer. I would definitely come back here. So happy we found this place.

I always feel very badly when I don't do a review of such an excellent restaurant and frankly Boudro's is an example of an exceptional restaurant. Firstly, the ambience is incredible. We were right on the river walk, but walked through the entire restaurant on our way to be seated and every bit of it is as lovely as where we ended up sitting. The Riverwalk, however, is a people watching place and so there really isn't any place in this particular restaurant which is not gonna be pleasant. Secondly, the service is exceptional. This is a very busy place. However, the waiter was simply incredible. Very attentive, very informative quite humorous. He was frankly part of the river walk entertainment. Extremely accommodating and instructive as well. You can't hope for much more from a server in Restaurant than this activity. The food is really quite good. How are the drinks. Extremely dependable and the portions are generous and equally wonderful. There are many places to dine in San Antonio. However, this is an experience not to be missed and I mean that quite sincerely. Kudos for a very, very well run well situated and well managed enjoyable place to dine on the river walk in San Antonio.

If I could give more stars I would! The ambiance was one that us in shorts did not feel out of place right along with all in business casual. Mary Christina took very good care of us. Assisting us in dinner and desert selections. The Shrimp and Grits rivals any Michelin star! Hubs has a blue crab and shrimp wrapped in a Bloody Mary Crepe Enchilada. So much crab meat. The deserts were also very decadent and did not disappoint for those of us who rarely indulge. Highly recommend and would definitely return

Was able to make same day reservations on a Monday night. I ordered the table side guac and prime rib. The guac was good, but it wasn't amazing. I really liked the prime rib. It was very flavorful and cooked perfectly!

The food was absolutely delicious! Be aware that some items in their photos section might not be on the menu now. Richard, our waiter, was fantastic! He was attentive, friendly, courteous, and professional, despite being busy with other customers too. I love the atmosphere. There is seating inside and outside, but I prefer the outside seating, because I like the people watch. Being on the side of the Riverwalk is the perfect spot!

This is our first time in San Antonio and we happened upon Boudros. We sat outside right on the river. They have a beautiful indoor dining room as well. Our server was attentive and informative and made some delicious table-side guacamole. My husband and I got the shrimp and crab enchiladas and the blackened fish. Both were terrific. The prickly pear frozen margaritas really hit the spot on a hot day. Our server also made us off the menu spicy margaritas that were the best we'd ever had. Highly recommend!

We had dinner at Boudro's because it came so highly recommended on Yelp. We got a table outside and it was very nice and our service was amazing from Drew. The guacamole tableside was good, but not a huge portion. I ordered the filet and my husband ordered the blackened prime rib. I ordered my filet medium and it came very rare so they took it back and brought a second one out that was just as rare. I ended up not eating an entrée for dinner and just ate the sides. My husband said his blackened prime rib was decent, but it was rather thin and they had butter on top of it, which did not even melt because it was not very hot when he received it. They did comp my steak and offered a free dessert because of what happened. If we lived in San Antonio, I think we would give them a second chance.

We had such a lovely evening on the patio at Boudros! When we arrived we were told they try to give prime seating to those with reservations, so even if you aren't sure you'll need one I suggest snagging one! We enjoyed the table side guacamole, the crab and shrimp enchilada plate, & prickly pear margaritas. Typically I do not order a mole sauce, but so so glad we tried the enchiladas because it was delicious! Overall such a lovely evening and will be visiting again!

On that occasion, the…read morevenue was exceptionally busy, and the sole bartender on duty informed us he was covering for an absent colleague. Despite the staff shortage, we placed a significant order for at least ten drinks. My husband had made a reservation for 6:00 PM. However, at approximately 7:30 PM, after we had already placed our drink order, a staff member informed my husband that our table reservation was only valid for two hours. Concerned about the impending two-hour limit and the delay in receiving our drinks, which had still not arrived by 7:45 PM, we inquired with our bartender about potentially canceling our order. He reassured us, stating that other tables were available should additional patrons arrive. Our subsequent visit, on Saturday, July 25, 2026, was solely with my husband. We arrived punctually, approximately five minutes before our 7:30 PM reservation. A female bartender directed us to a small, two-person table, despite the presence of two larger, seemingly more comfortable, unoccupied tables nearby. While initially assuming these larger tables might be reserved for a bigger party, the selection felt somewhat restrictive given the availability. Our seating unfortunately placed us adjacent to another patron who was using an additional chair to prop up her footwear, which contributed to an unpleasant atmosphere. The bartender then approached our table and asked if it was our first time, to which we replied it was not. She then asked if we knew what we wanted to order. We requested a brief moment to review the menu. However, we then waited for approximately fifteen minutes for her to return. Eventually, my husband had to actively call her over to place our order. Our initial drinks arrived after another ten to fifteen minutes. Subsequently, my husband attempted to catch the bartender's attention to order another round and request water. However, she was engaged in a lengthy conversation, estimated at ten minutes, with the neighboring patron and proceeded to walk past our table without acknowledging us. This extended period of being overlooked led to considerable frustration for my husband, who then felt compelled to approach the main bar directly to place our order and obtain water from a different bartender. It was only after this that the initial female bartender finally approached our table, asking if we needed anything. Considering the relatively small size of the establishment and the fact that there were only three occupied tables at the time, the level of inattentive and delayed service was particularly disappointing and, frankly, perplexing.

Drinks were AMAZING! Bartender Rob made the best Negroni I've ever had. I asked him to use whatever gin he thought best--result was an artistic smooooooth full-bodied drink. Told him when I was done I'd lick the glass if it wasn't considered so uncouth for a 'mature' lady like myself to do so Hubby's Buffalo Trace bourbon old fashioned was also outstanding. Rob was the bartender last night who did such a great job, and his work was even better tonight. We highly recommend The EsquireTavern for excellent cocktails. We love the long wood bar and high copper ceiling upstairs, but love the intimate speakeasy atmosphere downstairs even more. We'll definitely be back every time we're in San Antonio! First review, Friday night: Drinks were great (Manhattan and Bourbon Old Fashioned). REAL drinks, no complaints at all about those. And the bartenders were very friendly and helpful. Those aspects of the Esquire get 5+ stars from us. But the appetizers were not good, close to inedible. It was about 8:30pm or so, so maybe they were getting ready to close out the kitchen but the chalupitas with chicken tasted like rubber, and no flavor at all. The seafood platter had something in it that was breading with shell inside, but no meat of any kind. We couldn't figure out what it was supposed to be. The shrimp was good and the fish was good but those other things... We'll always love the drinks, the long wooden bar, and the ambiance at the Esquire Tavern, but we'll eat somewhere else and come here for before or after dinner drinks. (See update above to this review for when we returned the next night for after dinner drinks.)
