I always feel very badly when I don't do a review of such an excellent restaurant and frankly Boudro's is an example of an exceptional restaurant. Firstly, the ambience is incredible. We were right on the river walk, but walked through the entire restaurant on our way to be seated and every bit of it is as lovely as where we ended up sitting. The Riverwalk, however, is a people watching place and so there really isn't any place in this particular restaurant which is not gonna be pleasant. Secondly, the service is exceptional. This is a very busy place. However, the waiter was simply incredible. Very attentive, very informative quite humorous. He was frankly part of the river walk entertainment. Extremely accommodating and instructive as well. You can't hope for much more from a server in Restaurant than this activity. The food is really quite good. How are the drinks. Extremely dependable and the portions are generous and equally wonderful. There are many places to dine in San Antonio. However, this is an experience not to be missed and I mean that quite sincerely. Decent service and good location, but the food was below my expectation overall. We ordered the black and white soup, prime rib and chess pie. The soup never arrived, but we didn't say anything because the prime rib with fries and veg looked like plenty of food for us. Over-hyped, over-priced, unfriendly staff, watery drinks and terrible guacamole My wife and I had a very bad experience while dining in this restaurant during the Fiesta San Antonio. Boudros was highly recommended by friends, and was the first restaurant on our list to dine in during our recent visit. We arrived at the restaurant on a Thursday around 7:45 pm and were told by a young Hostess that no walk-ins were allowed until after 9 pm. We decided to modify our itinerary and instead had dinner at a different restaurant on the riverwalk, and made a reservation for Boudros online for the following evening. When we arrived the following evening for our reservation at 7.30 pm, we were escorted to a small table in the bar that was next to the entrance to a small room. The area was noisy with a lot of foot traffic. We asked for a table in a quieter room and were moved to a room in the back of the restaurant where it was easier to have a conversation. A few minutes later our waiter, Stephen, approached the table. We asked him for drink recommendations and among others he recommended the "Prickly Pear Margarita". I ordered the Prickly Pear Margarita, and we also ordered the tableside Guacamole. The restaurant was busy, but there were several empty tables in our dining area. After about 15 to 20 minutes, the waiter brought our drinks. The Prickly Pear Margarita I received was not even close to the description on the menu. The ice was melted and it tasted like Fruit Punch with alcohol in a martini glass. A few minutes later, Stephen approached our table with the Guacamole cart. There were pieces of onions and cilantro all over the dirty table cloth on the cart. He prepared the Guacamole in front of us and it looked very unappealing. We watched as he added an excessive amount of diced onions and cilantro. Being a connoisseur of Guacamole, and making my own for most of my life, it was obvious that Stephen had not been trained well in how to make Guacamole. After he mixed the sliced avocados, the diced onions and cilantro, he wiped the edge of the stone tray with a dirty cloth. The onions and cilantro over powered the taste of the avocado. Later that evening, Stephen brought a very fancy drink for a customer sitting next to us. The drink looked like frozen lime juice with line of frozen strawberry and a nice scoop of frozen lime juice on top. I asked Stephen for the name of that drink, and he replied that it was the same drink that I had ordered. I asked why it looked so different and he muttered something about it being the end of the batch and then said "I'm not the Bartender". He blamed the Bartender for making the terrible drink, and made no effort to correct the problem. Later Stephen returned with our dinner, and as he approached our table, he ordered my wife to "move your glass!" Needless to say she was quite taken aback at his abrupt manner with no please or thank-you. In all the staff did not have a very good demeanor and were very sullen and grumpy. Even asking for directions to the bathroom barely elicited a glance and the needed information. Maybe the staff was overworked because of the number of visitors for the Fiesta, but the terrible, over-priced food, did not make up for the unhappy staff, and we do not plan to return. read more

I truly hate giving low star reviews but I was so underwhelmed by this restaurant. We had reservations for 8 pm a Saturday for 2 of us. It was busy (which is a good sign), but the vibe for a nice date night was just not there. It was loud, tables were TIGHT, babies crying (no judgment), plates breaking, it was just a lot. I am 125 lbs and for me to get into my seat, I felt like my a** had to graze over the table next to me. Additionally, Bathrooms were not clean, TP all over the floors. Server was nice, but was not around an awful lot. The food... I ordered the steak and lobster. It was cooked perfect, medium rare, but wow... the lack of taste and season it had was wild. I had to add a lot of salt. My spouse got the filet, ordered medium. Hers was cooked medium rare so there were parts she couldn't eat. Our trip to Boudro's was fantastic. The inside was like a wine cellar feel. It was so clean. You could smell that staff took time to ensure the place was clean. Besides something swimming in our water and the waiter only putting more ice. The duck gumbo was FANTASTIC! I'm a gumbo snob and it was delicious. No notes. Then I had the blackened fish which was also amazing. The potatoes could have been cooked harder and the spinach a little longer. I would definitely come back here. This is our first time in San Antonio and we happened upon Boudros. We sat outside right on the river. They have a beautiful indoor dining room as well. Our server was attentive and informative and made some delicious table-side guacamole. My husband and I got the shrimp and crab enchiladas and the blackened fish. Both were terrific. We had dinner at Boudro's because it came so highly recommended on Yelp. We got a table outside and it was very nice and our service was amazing from Drew. The guacamole tableside was good, but not a huge portion. I ordered the filet and my husband ordered the blackened prime rib. I ordered my filet medium and it came very rare so they took it back and brought a second one out that was just as rare. I ended up not eating an entrée for dinner and just ate the sides. My husband said his blackened prime rib was decent, but it was rather thin and they had butter on top of it, which did not even melt because it was not very hot when he received it. They did comp my steak and offered a free dessert because of what happened. If we lived in San Antonio, I think we would give them a second chance. read more

We came here twice on our trip to San Antonio when we were here yesterday we had the tableside guacamole and the sauce and chips. Leaving Bandera, Texas and heading to Austin-Bergstrom Airport, I had just a couple hours to show my sister-in-law the San Antonio Riverwalk. We found this spot with easy river access, and it exceeded every expectation. The staff was unbelievably friendly from the moment we arrived. Parking was a block away ($25 for two hours), and the elevator down to the restaurant was easy to find. We got a beautiful table right on the river and enjoyed drinks and appetizers. The tableside guacamole was hands-down the best I've ever had, and the shrimp cocktail served in a cucumber boat with sauces right in the boat was both creative and delicious. Now to start, this is on the Riverwalk, so of course its busy with tourists and if you sit on the water's edge like we did, you'll have a constant stream of humanity walking by you. We had reservations and luckily did get the water side table. Which was great for the reasons mentioned above, however it did mean slightly delayed service as our waiter, Tracey J, was running from the water to the kitchen and seemed to have a section that spanned the entire dining area. You can tell he was hustling, so nothing bad to say about him, Im sure its not his fault he was tasked with such a disparate area. We started with the tomato salad, which was fantastic and she got the double rib pork chop and I got the grilled prime rib. We honestly should have just shared one entree, these are true Texas sized portions! I cant decide which one I liked more, the sauce on the pork chop was amazing and my prime rib was cooked perfectly. Even the grilled veggies that came with both were delicious! They cant validate for the parking structure across the street, which isnt their fault since it's now a private structure, so expect to pay $20-$30 for parking which is about the going rate for the Riverwalk on a Friday. So in Knoxville we used the RESY app and found the Kennedy so now in San Antonio I thought to use it again, I will say that I'm starting to believe that there is a level of flavors in order to be in the RESY group. We were in town for an event and decided to check out the Riverwalk. It was still early, around 4pm and there were not many people around. We stumbled upon Boudro's which looked like a great spot. However, being right in the water, we didn't want to sit where thousands of people would be walking by in a short time. We spotted the Boudro's terrace Bar, directly above the bistro. We went upstairs and there were several tables still available so we were able to be sat right against the railing overlooking the water. All the chairs had blankets for the chilly weather and the patio was decorated for the holidays which is a nice touch! Our server was Miguel. Miguel was very friendly and professional. He always had a smile throughout the evening. Miguel took our orders for drinks and brought out a basket of warm French bread & butter. I ordered a dirty martini and my husband ordered a red sangria. The martini was very good. Not filled to the rim but ice floats on top. The red sangria was not as good. My husband orders them frequently and he said it had a strange flavor. We shared the field mushrooms at 22.50 - with grilled baked polenta, goat cheese, Roma tomatoes and chipotle-thyme demi-glaze. These were absolutely delicious. Miguel also offered us a prickly pear margarita that someone cancelled from their order. We took it! It was very, very good and quite festive looking. We peaked down below at some of the entrees people ordered. They were plated nicely and looked delicious. We thought we would come back for dinner at some point. I would recommend Boudro's but come early if you don't have a reservation or you probably won't be seated. Boudro's is the sister restaurant of my favorite restaurant in San Antonio, Zinc Bistro. However, they sadly never reopened Zinc after the pandemic. The prickly pear margarita wasn't as good as it used to be, or the bar tender just had a bad day. It had this strong, solvent- like taste. Food was decent, price has gone up a lot since the pandemic sadly. Same dish I ordered 6 years ago had gone up $23, the surf and turf was $42 dollars 6 years ago, now $65. Crazy inflation. I absolutely loved my meal here. My bf and I split the filet and a nice salad. We each had a glass of wine, Cab for me and Sauvignon Blanc for him. We ordered the steak medium and it was cooked perfectly and tasted even better. Every bit was perfect. We got squash, zucchini, green beans and onions in the delicious sauce. We were looking for dinner on Monday night and saw a staircase that led upstairs to a Terrace bar and grill. Turns out that the restaurant below also has a terrace location up above. We started with basic drinks - my husband, getting an old old-fashioned and myself starting with a in-house made ranch water. The ranch water was actually really delicious and I ended up ordering another one. My husband did order another old-fashioned but this time he remembered to ask for gentleman's ice. That would be the only downfall that we saw was that his old-fashioned was served with a bunch of ice, and unfortunately, it takes away from the flavor and waters down the drink fast. We decided to have dinner there and And really enjoyed our experience. My husband got the ribeye and said that it was very delicious and really enjoyed the red wine reduction that came with it. I got their shrimp and grits and let me tell you - I cleaned that plate! The shrimp were nice and tender and the grits were steel cut grits so they're a little bit larger but the flavor was delicious and they had this nice savory kind of spicy sauce that came with it. It literally was delicious and the perfect size for dinner. We really enjoyed our experience here and would definitely come back. However, our party of 14 was seated indoors and it was fine since it was a bit cool outside but make sure to request outdoor if that's what you're here for. We had great warm tortilla chips and table-side guac which we really enjoyed. The prickly pear margarita was tasty. I ordered the scallops and they had too much seasoning for my taste and not seared crispy. The dressing on the pozole was strong too. The quail had a lot of heavy sauce. If I could give this place 1000000 stars, I would. I'm going to cut to the chase - BEST STEAK I'VE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE! I ate at this restaurant since it was recommended by the hotel I was staying at. This place did NOT disappoint one bit. For starters, I got the Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail and Guacamole for 2 (prepared fresh table side). The shrimps were delicious, especially in the sauce that isn't marinara. The guac was perfect, lots of chips came with it. While the server was freshly preparing the guac, he was explaining their menu. My main dish was the 10 oz Texas Filet. Instead of fries, I got veggies. Oh my goodness...I can't stop thinking about it. The steak was PERFECTLY cooked (rare, per my request) AND FLAVORED. THE FLAVOR OF THE ENTIRE DISH IS OUT OF THIS WORLD! The chimichurri sauce is perfection in every way. Warning, you will have garlic breath after devouring this meal, but it is well worth it. The fried jalapenos that came with the dish were sooo good that I had to ask for more. I've been talking about this dish for days now. The Chicken Fried Ribeye is also spectacular! For dessert, do NOT skip getting the bread pudding. The keylime pie is good, as well. All in all, I WILL 10000000% BE RETURNING! As anticipated, the patio scene was awesome...and so was the weather that day. First of all, I was surprised (in a very good way) that they offered complimentary bread during lunch hours. In any case, I ordered their Shrimp & Grits, and my husband ordered Chicken & Avocado BLT (I think that's what it was called?). We both decided to skip the alcohol this time around, so just ordered Iced Tea. Not sure how great the BLT was, but my Shrimp & Grits was AMAZING!! Even though he was waiting multiple tables, he made sure to check in on us frequently. We started off with the seared scallops for appetizer. It smelled fishy but the taste was anything but. Tasted amazing with their red pepper vinegrette and the white corn pozole was subtle and not overpowering. Steaks do take a while to cook so keep that in mind and order an app or don't come here too hungry. But it's def worth the wait. The lobster was overpriced and overcooked unfortunately. While they did have tables on the water, they also had a covered patio (with fans!!) that we sat at. The service was great! I was not impressed with the food either. Ribeye steak is supposed to be tender but this one was chewy. Crab tostada lacked flavor. The best thing tonight was its bread/baguette.
