Stopped by here for dinner, with coworkers, and the food and drinks were enjoyable. I started off with a lemon drop (made with tequila) and their shrimp cocktail. I didn't have to wait long for the items and the shrimp was tasty with the different sauces. I also shared a table side guacamole but it was a little too chunky for me. Other than that, the flavor was there. For my main, I ordered the blackened gulf fish with sides of roasted potatoes and veggies. The fish was delicious and veggies enjoyable; however, I did have to send the potatoes back due to them being cold. I did receive another order and it was warmer. We visited Boudro's during our weekend trip to San Antonio, riding high on a coworker's recommendation and glowing social media reviews. Unfortunately, our experience completely missed the mark. To be fair, the ambiance was nice, and the service was okay. I ordered the Prickly Pear Margarita, which looked cute but tasted like a mocktail--it did not appear to have any alcohol in it. From there, the food was simply horrible. We started with the famous tableside guacamole, which was incredibly runny and completely lacked salt. For the main courses, our waiter informed us the catch of the day was Drum. However, our table received three completely different types of fish (all claiming to be Drum), and one of them tasted completely rotten. The vegetables accompanying the fish were cold and bland. Someone else ordered the shrimp and grits, which ended up being a bowl of sauce severely lacking in actual shrimp and grits. Finally, the steak for the steak frites was ordered medium-well. Despite sending it back several times, the kitchen repeatedly sent it out medium-rare. Overall, we did not have the experience we expected. Nice spot right off the river. Can be a bit annoying if it's packed with ppl walking by. The service was okay but water refills took a while and sitting in the heat was uncomfortable. The salad was great, tasted like homemade dressing. There are river tours that park or go by. Ducks that swim up. The restaurant location is nice outside. Ate here around 1130 am on a rainy Monday, we were easily seated outside, we enjoyed the tableside guacamole, and the lunch menu which included 10 oz sirloin and the smash burger (my two kids split it). Decent service and good location, but the food was below my expectation overall. We ordered the black and white soup, prime rib and chess pie. The soup never arrived, but we didn't say anything because the prime rib with fries and veg looked like plenty of food for us. The prime rib was flavorful, and was a big portion which was expected for the $48 price tag. Veg was mid and I wasn't wowed by the seasoning on the shoestring fries. This place was absolutely packed and had a great energetic vibe. The dining area is a little tight, but not so cramped that you're bumping into people. I'd definitely recommend making a reservation because it gets busy fast. The prices are on the higher side, and my husband felt his Old Fashioned was a bit watered down compared to similar drinks we've had at other restaurants. On the plus side, our server was friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome throughout the meal. We ordered the pork tenderloin, ribeye, and shrimp and grits with a creamy gravy sauce. Every single dish was delicious. I'm pretty picky when it comes to steak, but the ribeye really impressed me: it was cooked perfectly and full of flavor. The shrimp and grits were another standout. The creamy sauce was rich and incredibly tasty, with just a hint of spice that added flavor without being overwhelming. As someone who doesn't enjoy very spicy food, I thought it was just right. Our trip to Boudro's was fantastic. The inside was like a wine cellar feel. It was so clean. You could smell that staff took time to ensure the place was clean. Besides something swimming in our water and the waiter only putting more ice. The duck gumbo was FANTASTIC! I'm a gumbo snob and it was delicious. No notes. Then I had the blackened fish which was also amazing. The potatoes could have been cooked harder and the spinach a little longer. I would definitely come back here. I always feel very badly when I don't do a review of such an excellent restaurant and frankly Boudro's is an example of an exceptional restaurant. Firstly, the ambience is incredible. We were right on the river walk, but walked through the entire restaurant on our way to be seated and every bit of it is as lovely as where we ended up sitting. The Riverwalk, however, is a people watching place and so there really isn't any place in this particular restaurant which is not gonna be pleasant. Secondly, the service is exceptional. This is a very busy place. However, the waiter was simply incredible. Very attentive, very informative quite humorous. He was frankly part of the river walk entertainment. Extremely accommodating and instructive as well. You can't hope for much more from a server in Restaurant than this activity. The food is really quite good. How are the drinks. Extremely dependable and the portions are generous and equally wonderful. There are many places to dine in San Antonio. However, this is an experience not to be missed and I mean that quite sincerely. We came here twice on our trip to San Antonio when we were here yesterday we had the tableside guacamole and the sauce and chips. My dining companions had the lemon drop martini and a margarita while I had a nonalcoholic beer. Trying to stay a little sober so I don't fall into the San Antonio River. We had dinner at Boudro's because it came so highly recommended on Yelp. We got a table outside and it was very nice and our service was amazing from Drew. The guacamole tableside was good, but not a huge portion. I ordered the filet and my husband ordered the blackened prime rib. I ordered my filet medium and it came very rare so they took it back and brought a second one out that was just as rare. I ended up not eating an entrée for dinner and just ate the sides. My husband said his blackened prime rib was decent, but it was rather thin and they had butter on top of it, which did not even melt because it was not very hot when he received it. They did comp my steak and offered a free dessert because of what happened. If we lived in San Antonio, I think we would give them a second chance. read more

When we arrived we were told they try to give prime seating to those with reservations, so even if you aren't sure you'll need one I suggest snagging one! We enjoyed the table side guacamole, the crab and shrimp enchilada plate, & prickly pear margaritas. Leaving Bandera, Texas and heading to Austin-Bergstrom Airport, I had just a couple hours to show my sister-in-law the San Antonio Riverwalk. We found this spot with easy river access, and it exceeded every expectation. The staff was unbelievably friendly from the moment we arrived. Parking was a block away ($25 for two hours), and the elevator down to the restaurant was easy to find. We got a beautiful table right on the river and enjoyed drinks and appetizers. The tableside guacamole was hands-down the best I've ever had, and the shrimp cocktail served in a cucumber boat with sauces right in the boat was both creative and delicious. From start to finish, the staff treated us like VIPs--even guiding us back to the elevator when we left. Amazing food, stunning view, and incredible service, definitely a must-visit on the Riverwalk! Now to start, this is on the Riverwalk, so of course its busy with tourists and if you sit on the water's edge like we did, you'll have a constant stream of humanity walking by you. Great for people watching, bad for a private dinner. We didnt mind and enjoyed watching all the different people walking by or taking the boat tour. We had reservations and luckily did get the water side table. Which was great for the reasons mentioned above, however it did mean slightly delayed service as our waiter, Tracey J, was running from the water to the kitchen and seemed to have a section that spanned the entire dining area. You can tell he was hustling, so nothing bad to say about him, Im sure its not his fault he was tasked with such a disparate area. We started with the tomato salad, which was fantastic and she got the double rib pork chop and I got the grilled prime rib. We honestly should have just shared one entree, these are true Texas sized portions! I cant decide which one I liked more, the sauce on the pork chop was amazing and my prime rib was cooked perfectly. Even the grilled veggies that came with both were delicious! They cant validate for the parking structure across the street, which isnt their fault since it's now a private structure, so expect to pay $20-$30 for parking which is about the going rate for the Riverwalk on a Friday. Came here for a business dinner during a conference a few weeks back and I still think about the excellent grilled prime rib I had here. We got to try most of the appetizers which were all pretty good as well, but that prime rib was definitely the best thing I ate that week. We were in town for an event and decided to check out the Riverwalk. It was still early, around 4pm and there were not many people around. We stumbled upon Boudro's which looked like a great spot. However, being right in the water, we didn't want to sit where thousands of people would be walking by in a short time. We spotted the Boudro's terrace Bar, directly above the bistro. We went upstairs and there were several tables still available so we were able to be sat right against the railing overlooking the water. All the chairs had blankets for the chilly weather and the patio was decorated for the holidays which is a nice touch! Our server was Miguel. Miguel was very friendly and professional. He always had a smile throughout the evening. Miguel took our orders for drinks and brought out a basket of warm French bread & butter. I ordered a dirty martini and my husband ordered a red sangria. The martini was very good. Not filled to the rim but ice floats on top. The red sangria was not as good. My husband orders them frequently and he said it had a strange flavor. We shared the field mushrooms at 22.50 - with grilled baked polenta, goat cheese, Roma tomatoes and chipotle-thyme demi-glaze. These were absolutely delicious. Miguel also offered us a prickly pear margarita that someone cancelled from their order. We took it! It was very, very good and quite festive looking. We peaked down below at some of the entrees people ordered. They were plated nicely and looked delicious. We thought we would come back for dinner at some point. I would recommend Boudro's but come early if you don't have a reservation or you probably won't be seated. Boudro's is the sister restaurant of my favorite restaurant in San Antonio, Zinc Bistro. However, they sadly never reopened Zinc after the pandemic. The prickly pear margarita wasn't as good as it used to be, or the bar tender just had a bad day. It had this strong, solvent- like taste. Food was decent, price has gone up a lot since the pandemic sadly. Same dish I ordered 6 years ago had gone up $23, the surf and turf was $42 dollars 6 years ago, now $65. Crazy inflation. I absolutely loved my meal here. My bf and I split the filet and a nice salad. We each had a glass of wine, Cab for me and Sauvignon Blanc for him. We ordered the steak medium and it was cooked perfectly and tasted even better. Every bit was perfect. We got squash, zucchini, green beans and onions in the delicious sauce. It also came with a corn pudding. Our waitress was super nice and helpful and didn't make us feel silly for splitting a meal. We're not large eaters and a 10 ounce steak was plenty for us. We were looking for dinner on Monday night and saw a staircase that led upstairs to a Terrace bar and grill. Turns out that the restaurant below also has a terrace location up above. They also have a small indoor bar up there as well. We had the pleasure of meeting Jason, our bartender who was just incredibly friendly and provided the best service while we were there. We started with basic drinks - my husband, getting an old old-fashioned and myself starting with a in-house made ranch water. The ranch water was actually really delicious and I ended up ordering another one. My husband did order another old-fashioned but this time he remembered to ask for gentleman's ice. That would be the only downfall that we saw was that his old-fashioned was served with a bunch of ice, and unfortunately, it takes away from the flavor and waters down the drink fast. We decided to have dinner there and And really enjoyed our experience. My husband got the ribeye and said that it was very delicious and really enjoyed the red wine reduction that came with it. I got their shrimp and grits and let me tell you - I cleaned that plate! The shrimp were nice and tender and the grits were steel cut grits so they're a little bit larger but the flavor was delicious and they had this nice savory kind of spicy sauce that came with it. It literally was delicious and the perfect size for dinner. We really enjoyed our experience here and would definitely come back. per a recommendation, I brought an out of state friend to Boudro's for lunch on a Wednesday afternoon visit to the Riverwalk. We ordered their chicken enchiladas And the tomato salad. The salad was decent BUT, the enchiladas were the worst that I have ever tasTed. First the side of black beans had no seasoning whatsoever, not even salt. But the enchiladas, the chicken was dry, the filling lacked any taste or personality and the sauce was blander than any baby food that I had ever tasted. I did share my extreme disappointment with the server, she heists but acknowledged that this dish wasn't what they are 'know ' for, but still, why have something so awful on your menu. She comped us with a dessert but, I don't think I ll ever go back. read more

If I could give this place 1000000 stars, I would. I'm going to cut to the chase - BEST STEAK I'VE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE! I ate at this restaurant since it was recommended by the hotel I was staying at. This place did NOT disappoint one bit. For starters, I got the Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail and Guacamole for 2 (prepared fresh table side). The shrimps were delicious, especially in the sauce that isn't marinara. The guac was perfect, lots of chips came with it. While the server was freshly preparing the guac, he was explaining their menu. My main dish was the 10 oz Texas Filet. Instead of fries, I got veggies. Oh my goodness...I can't stop thinking about it. The steak was PERFECTLY cooked (rare, per my request) AND FLAVORED. THE FLAVOR OF THE ENTIRE DISH IS OUT OF THIS WORLD! The chimichurri sauce is perfection in every way. Warning, you will have garlic breath after devouring this meal, but it is well worth it. The fried jalapenos that came with the dish were sooo good that I had to ask for more. I've been talking about this dish for days now. The Chicken Fried Ribeye is also spectacular! For dessert, do NOT skip getting the bread pudding. The keylime pie is good, as well. All in all, I WILL 10000000% BE RETURNING! This was the most disappointing meal I've had in years. We brought a group of kids and adults. There was a total mismatch between the price and quality. Every dish was soulless. Lots of food left on the table. I had the crab tostada and I'm fairly certain it was microwaved. This is a tourist trap.
