Rum and Raisin pudding??? Huh?

I downloaded Yelp to make this review. I will delete it once I'm done. This place is not worth the wait. Rum and raisin dessert? More like a cold brick of paste. Steak and frites? More like crap and sticks. Bouillon Soup? I've seen it in a Campbells can. Yelp did not give me the option to click zero stars. I will go to McDonald's next time.

I got here at the perfect time to beat the crowd. This place simply always has a line. I am enamored with the decor and the salmon was on a bed of pickled cabbage which I liked. I got a glass of champagne which I noticed was smaller than the neighbors glass for some reason. The server lady rushed me which I hear they don't do in Paris. You are supposed to sit and enjoy your meal. I wasn't even half way finished with my meal and she asked if I wanted the check. Seriously? I'm not even done eating? I get it, lines out the door, but I wasn't taking my time. I went to the restroom for a second and when I can back she was grilling me.

Great ambiance. Food was really good and service great. So cool they have left it mostly original inside. Food prices were very reasonable Easy to reach on the subway.

If you're looking for an authentic French dining experience, check out this place! Our waiter only spoke French but was friendly and patient with us. The place itself was big and well-decorated, though they had tables squished close together to fit as many people as possible. I was also blown away by the prices--it's so affordable especially coming from the States. The food was delicious, honestly one of my favorite places in Paris during my short trip there. I ordered the chicken, and it was cooked so well and felt so tender. Highly recommend, but make sure to make a reservation beforehand.

We were lucky to arrive at Bouillon Julien before the crowd formed on the sidewalk and got a table right away. The place is gorgeous to look at with impressive decorations and architecture. Being at Bouillon Julien I felt obligated to try the Bouillon Julien which is a beef broth with meat and veggies. It was rather tasty . The prices and drink selection was impressive as well, hard to believe a glass of wine would go for 3 Euro in a famous well located beautiful place like this. There were not a lot of vegetarian options , and one of my companions had a hard time finding something, but for us meat eaters it was great to sample traditional French food at a fair price.

I'm honestly surprised by the low ratings because I had a great time and excellent food while here. First of all, the restaurant is beautiful. It's in the middle of a bustling street and there's often a long line outside - but once you walk in, it feels peaceful and relaxing to sit and experience the food. The waiters were all extremely nice and attentive - they were constantly checking up on me and had a dessert menu in front of me before I even needed to ask. The food was also excellent and incredibly affordable: it often shows up on lists for the best bang for your buck food options in Paris and the food quality is excellent. The portions are appropriately sized - and with it being so affordable, you get to dry various different types of dishes. The lychee blancmange desserts is one of the best desserts I've ever had - I still think about it and would be happy to go here again just for that. I had a great time and would recommend this to anyone visiting Paris.

Busy spot for classic French dishes! We came at 6:30pm for dinner with a reservation. We were quickly seated and started with ordering escargot to share. Then for entrees we got the steak frites as well as the fish in cream sauce. Both were pretty good but I the steak (like many in places in Paris) was a bit tough and generally the steak is not a great cut compared to what you would get in the US. We loved the escargot (perfect to be eaten alone or on bread) and the choux was a great way to end the meal! Bouillon Julien definitely gets busy for dinner so I'd recommend making a reservation before coming.

This place was awesome. Seriously. I ate incredibly well, had wine with lunch and the price did not kill me. The waiter was kind, patient, helpful and fast. If you're an American visiting Paris and want 'real' French food that won't break the bank, this place will deliver.

I love paris because of the vibe and decor...

Hello and thanks for reading about my paris journey. Give me some votes if you find this review helpful. . First thing first, bouillion I find that word in paris to be comfort french food which is usually affordable. It's authentic, and usually good, but nothing fancy, but locals loves it and tourists too. This is my experience, I might be wrong about the word boullion. . Ok this location is iconic and soo cool! It's a vibe and a must visit. Inside just makes you awe and make yourself think am I I'm a dream or is it real? Yes I slapped myself and it was real. I was very blessed to come here around 2pm on a weekday. Luckily there was no wait and scored a table real quick. . Boy believe me them prices was super low for appetizer, main dish, dessert, drinks such as wine. I ordered the 6 course meal including 2 wines for like only 40 euros and in usd 40 bucks. You really get the bang for your bucks. . Salad - lettuce, cheese was amazing, and some tomatoes with light vinaigrette. The sauce is more on the tangy side for sure. It was refreshing and I needed my veggies. . Rabbit tare tare - this was different. It was authentic. It was an experience and a vibe. Not something I would order again. I like to think it was cooked. . Snails - can't go wrong with this anywhere in paris. You will love it. It was a little more on the bland side for the pesto. When I think of pesto, I'm thinking of a punch on flavors and herby with garlicky. . Cheese - it was the hard cheese. It was calm and went well with the white wine. . Cows head with white mayo sauce - texture was amazing. I'm not a big mayo fan, I do like mayo but not overload. I had to brush some of the mayo sauce on the aide while eating it. . Red and white wine for different pairings - can't go wrong with any wine. It was so cheap I could easily have 4 glasses but everything in moderation I told myself. . Overall I really loved the building and the decor inside. I wouldn't have thought there's a place like this until I witness it. Highly recommend for local affordable French food. Thanks for reading and have a yelptastic day!

Beautiful restaurant with delicious food. The escargot was amazing. Great prices and great service. My steak was a little tough and the potatoes were a little cold but the flavor was spot on. The house Sauvignon blanc was so good and refreshing. Worth a trip just to sit and enjoy the ambiance and have a glass of wine. Truly stunning restaurant.

This is one of, if not the best bouillon in town. But unlike some others this place is committed to keeping prices low while keeping quality high. The staff here was great and spoke wonderful English. To begin we drank Aperol Spritz and I ordered a big beer. The drinks are very tasty. I finally had my opportunity to eat escargot, so I took it. Honestly, it was delicious! These little snails come in a delicious butter sauce with garlic. Definitely worth a try. For our main dishes we preferred a beer stroganoff on mashed potatoes. My wife loved it and the potatoes. I ordered the bouillon julien which is unlike me since it was soup. I don't regret it though. Great tasty beef pieces with wonderful lemongrass. We ended up getting a sausage with mashed potatoes for our baby. She loved it and we helped eat the rest. The table bread was tasty but nothing special. For dessert, we had the creme brûlée and the meringue with cream. Both were tasty but the crème brûlée was the best. The ambiance here is great. Bathrooms were clean. Service was great! Prices are friendly. I would come back in a heartbeat.

Throughout our trip from Provence, Basque Country and Paris, I joked that they must hate me for ordering my beef med b/c it was so much tougher compared to our beef. Anyway, it's just different. Our server spoke English fluently and was such a hoot...full of personality & joy. Per his recommendation, we ordered it med-rare b/c it continues cooking table side on the sizzling platter. We ate too much. It's a lot of food to split the cote de boeuf btn two. Comes with very good chubby fries and 3 sauces. TBH, I didn't love the sauces. Luckily we walked 6miles that day and skipped lunch. Started with a garden salad, but sadly we had no room for dessert. Reservations via email. We managed to get a 9pm reso, last minute, I bet due to a cancellation. They have 2seatings...6pm & 9pm.

Making a reservation isn't hard but you do need to email them and there's no online booking system. You also have to confirm again 1-2 days before. I understand they are small with a limited number of tables so that's fair and it seemed like everyone showed up even though they don't require a deposit. On a Friday night, it didn't appear there was much chance or walking in although there were like 2 open seats at what would have been a shared table. The menu is small and includes some typical French starters, steaks, 3 non steak entrees, cheeses, and dessert. All steaks come with potatoes, 3 sauces, salad. Service was a highlight. The waiter was personable and funny, had solid recommendations, and made sure leftovers were taken home. Also had a solid wine recommendation after asking some questions. They probably get a lot of people who don't speak French and they had no problem speaking English. The food- ordered a ribeye medium rare. The steak was so so charred on the outside and it almost ruined the whole thing. I really wish they would have charred it way less especially when it was ordered medium rare. There is seared and then there is burnt; this was sadly the latter. The steak itself was fine, honestly nowhere near the best meat I have had but the price is quite reasonable for how much you get. I would say the steak was maybe 6/10 for me, largely due to the cooking. The fries were phenomenal. Definitely a highlight and really tasty and with a great texture. Salad was good, pretty typical. I wanted to like the sauces more but found them just okay. The best by far for me was the blue cheese sauce but even this one I thought the flavors could have popped a little more. Atmosphere was fun, there were a few bigger groups (6-8 which is the biggest they accommodate) but it never got unreasonably loud. Overall I wanted to love it but was a bit disappointed even though the service and fries were both great.

We were so looking forward to the frog legs, onion soup and other delicacies pictured. We got there and the sign was just as it was with the same name -- Au Pied du Sacre Coeur. We should've noticed something was wrong when no one was inside. When the waiter (lone person working along with cook) gave us the menu, my wife and I stared at each other completely confused. The menu looked nothing like the ones on this website and featured Italian food items, like spaghetti, arroz con pollo or mozarella. I asked him about frog legs or the onion soup. He looked confused and just said no. Out of respect for him, we just ordered the charcuterie, which featured stale bread and a few slices of meat taken from my local grocery store in the U.S. Also -- they claimed to not accept any international credit cards. WHAT HAPPENED? Are all these reviews fake? Most likely, they underwent new ownership right when we visited. But new visitors -- please beware. Do not trust any of the reviews before mine. If I was mistaken, please post photos and just tell me that I was part of some elaborate joke to ruin a lunch for me and my wife.

That's not acceptable. The food, however, was. Hence my difficulty in giving one rating. Our 3 dishes tried were indeed solid. Generous servings of seafood in the bouillabaisse, and I have no qualms whatsoever with my cuise de grenouille and foie gras salads. Bread kept us alive. The free Cote du Rhône glass was appreciated for check-in! Our server had his head permanently at a 30 degree angle, staring at his mobile. Tis a shame. But he was friendly ( oh, and easy on the eyes). I liked the quiet location out of the chaotic fray, like up the street, with all its smoking and volume. PS This is lover's type of location. Even the dark end of the small street feels illicit!
